Liverpool return to Premier League action against Southampton on Saturday, and at least one Reds player will be forced to miss the game.
According to the Daily Mail:
"Adam Lallana is set to miss the Southampton game. Lallana aggravated a groin problem [and] was assessed by Liverpool's medical staff on Wednesday. He should be able to start training at some point next week".
If you believe the hysterical reaction of some LFC fans, Lallana is so important to Liverpool that the team will collapse and die without him in the starting XI.
Newsflash: This is absolute nonsense. Lallana is not indispensable or irreplaceable - he is just one component of a *team* that's currently functioning at a high level, and the Reds will be just fine without him.
Isn't that the way it's supposed to be anyway? The ideal scenario is to create a team that isn't reliant on just one player, and based on this season's evidence, Jurgen Klopp has (so far) achieved that.
It'll be the same in January when Sadio Mane goes to the AFCON. Fans are predicting that Liverpool will suffer in that period, but as with Lallana, I doubt the Senegalese attacker will be missed as much as everyone seems to think.
^ May 2016: Linked with a £20m summer move to Spurs. Hailed last month by Jurgen Klopp for his 'brilliant' performances.
