Anfield Boost: Great news for Jurgen Klopp as 'unbelievable' €7m sensation finally returns to Liverpool action

With the packed Christmas schedule just around the corner, Liverpool have received a timely injury boost this week.

According to the Liverpool Echo:

"Joe Gomez returned to a Liverpool team in a behind closed doors friendly at Melwood on Sunday. The 19-year-old defender was a half-time substitute".

The Echo also confirmed:

"Sheyi Ojo has returned to full training at Melwood, and he is now ready to return to action".

Ojo's return comes at just the right time, and he now has six weeks to get up to speed so that he's available (if needed) to provide cover when Mane heads for the African Cup of Nations in January.

As for Gomez - he is reportedly a January target for Huddersfield Town and Liverpool fans seem to approve of the idea of sending him out on loan to build up fitness. In October, I conducted a poll asking fans the question, and the results were emphatic:

* 85% of participants voted YES to a January move for Gomez.

Klopp appears to rate Gomez, and his programme notes a few weeks ago, the German enthused:

“We will look after [Gomez] because we believe him to be special and someone who has a big future with Liverpool. We believe he has all the attributes to be a top player for Liverpool".

That may be true, but after such a long time out injured, €7m-rated Gomez obviously needs game time to regain proper match fitness, and short of a catastrophic injury meltdown, there's little chance of that happening at Anfield.

As such, a loan deal appears to make sense, and with Liverpool stipulating that players must play 75% of games for their loan clubs, Gomez will potentially get plenty of action at a different club.
