Season Over? 'Amazing' €53m Liverpool star on crutches after injury shocker; Klopp confirms hospital 'scan'

Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho appears to be facing an extended spell on the sidelines.

Coutinho had to be stretchered off after suffering an impact injury against Sunderland, and according to The Guardian:

"Coutinho left Anfield on crutches and will undergo a scan to determine the extent of an injury".

When asked after the game about Coutinho's injury, Klopp told reporters:

“It is something with the ankle. It was painful, but he [Coutinho] said it felt better at half-time. I have no idea what it is. We will have to wait for a scan.”

So, how long (potentially) will Coutinho be out? Comparisons:

* Nov 2014: Jack Wilshere suffered ankle ligament damage, and spent 3 months on the sidelines.

* Apr 2016: Divock Origi suffered an ankle injury (no surgery) and was out for one month.

* Oct 2016: Breel Embolo had surgery on ankle injury, and is expected to be out for 6 months.

Fingers crossed that Coutinho has suffered an Origi, and not an Embolo (!)

* Coutinho: €53m-rated (CIES Football Observatory). Hailed as 'amazing' by Joel Matip.
