Coach confirms: 'Amazing' €53m attacker wants to play 'for Liverpool' and win the 'Champions League'

Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho seems to be destined for Barcelona, but according to his former coach, Reds fans have nothing to worry about.

When asked this week about the Barcelona speculation, Rodney Goncalves - who worked with Coutinho at Vasco da Gama - told The Telegraph:

"Whenever we speak he [Coutinho] says he's very happy at Liverpool and [wants] to win the League and Champions League [at LFC]. His ambition is to be one of the top 10 players [in the world]".

Goncalves further added:

“He knows that if he continues to give great performances for Liverpool, he will always be selected for Brazil.”

Coutinho is living the dream right now:

* Automatic first-choice for Liverpool FC,one of the world's biggest, and (historically) most successful clubs.

* Working (and learning) under one of the world's most revered managers, and playing alongside top quality players (including fellow Brazilians).

* A regular starter for Brazil, and nailed on to be an important part of the national squad at the next World Cup.

This might be enough for the vast majority of footballers, but is it enough to make Coutinho forget about the lure of Barcelona? Time will tell.
