Grobbelaar claims: Klopp has signed a 'potential' replacement for 'brilliant' €23m Liverpool star

Liverpool legend Bruce Grobbelaar has given new Reds 'keeper Loris Karius his seal of approval.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo today, Grobbelaar - a vociferous critic of Simon Mignolet - raved:

“Karius has impressed me. He was voted second best in the Bundesliga behind Neuer so he's no rookie. He’s got very good feet. I hope he can [be] No 1 for many years. He certainly has the potential to do that.

This is a far cry from Grobbelaar's view on Mignolet. Last season, he scathed:

“I’ve got a goalkeeper in Canada, a 24-year-old, who [is] better than Mignolet, and just as good of a shotstopper. He is more of a package than Mignolet”.

Grobbelaar is currently the goalkeeping coach for Ottawa Fury F.C. (in the North American Soccer League), and he was referring to Canadian 'stopper Marcel Debellis, who honed his game at Italian Fourth Division club AC Bellaria and Serie B side Ascoli. Ouch!

It's obvious from Grobbelaar's comments that he wants Karius to be Mignolet's long-term replacement at Liverpool, and based on the German's initial form, there's a strong chance that will happen.
