Ireland legend Tony Cascarino has urged Liverpool to replace Daniel Sturridge with one of Europe's most coveted strikers.
The tedious 'Sturridge doesn't fit' narrative is full swing, and Cascarino is the latest pundit to jump on the bandwagon.
When asked this week about Sturridge, Cascarino told British newspaper The Times:
“I don’t think Sturridge has a future at Liverpool. He doesn't fit into Jurgen Klopp’s team. I would get the striker from Borussia Dortmund, Pierre Emerick Aubemeyang. He is lightning quick. He would fit".
As it happens, Dortmund are reportedly willing to sell Aubameyang. Last week, the club's Chief, Hans-Joachim Watzke, conceded that the club 'will' discuss a possible transfer, and according to Sky Sports on Wednesday:
"Borussia Dortmund have slapped an €80m price-tag on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and are unwilling to sell the Gabon forward for less than that".
Even with Jurgen Klopp at the helm, this transfer appears to be a pipe-dream...unless, of course, Liverpool win the league, which may be enough to steer players of Aubameyang's consistent quality in the direction of LFC.
That said, Real Madrid are also in the picture, and it's hard to envision a situation where Aubameyang - hailed by Jurgen Klopp as an incredible player - will reject Anfield for the Bernabeu.
