Thommo: I'd 'love' to see Liverpool sign 'fantastic' £50m goal-machine who's 'like Suarez'

On Wednesday, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp delivered a glowing tribute to Chelsea striker Diego Costa, and according to Reds legend Phil Thompson, Costa is cut from the same cloth as one of LFC's greatest goalscorers.

When asked on Wednesday about Costa, Klopp told reporters at his pre-match press conference:

"He [Costa] is world-class. He’s a real warrior on the pitch. He was nearly unstoppable at Swansea".

Thommo also appears to be a fan, and in his column for the Liverpool Echo, he admitted that he'd 'love' to have Costa at Anfield, and further enthused:

“He [Costa] is fantastic. He goes over that line quite often but he does bring something special. [He's] like Luis Suarez: everyone hated him but we loved him.

There are obvious similarities between Suarez and £50m-rated Costa, but when it comes to overall talent, and goalscoring ability, Suarez is (IMO) light years ahead.

I was one of Suarez's most vociferous critics during his time at Anfield (I make no apology for that, and my complaints remain valid), but I've always acknowledged his footballing genius, which remains on display at the Nou Camp.

Could Costa go to Barcelona and massively improve a team that contains the likes of Messi, Neymar, and Iniesta? No chance. That's exactly what Suarez has done, though, which is why - on a footballing level - he's currently one of the best players in the world.

On a related note: I'd rather have a consistently fully-fit Daniel Sturridge over Diego Costa. Same level of goals, but none of the disciplinary hassle.
