Legend raves: Liverpool 'superstar' Sadio Mane is better than 'fantastic' €72m attacker. Agree?

Another day, another pundit raving about Sadio Mane, and this time, it's Saints legend Matt Le Tissier hailing Liverpool's £34m summer signing.

In recent weeks, Mane has been hailed as 'electric'; labelled a 'superstar'; described as 'wonderful', and been compared to Reds legend John Barnes (!)

Now, Le Tissier insists that Mane is better than Raheem Sterling. Speaking to Sky Sports this week, Le Tissier named Mane ahead of Sterling in his team of the season so far. He explained:

"Mane has just a little bit more end product [than Sterling] and seems more in control of himself".

I'm no fan of Sterling, but Le Tissier's statement is simply inaccurate. Since the start of last season, Sterling's end product is actually superior to Mane's:

* Sterling: 14 goals/16 assists in 54 apps (One every 118 mins).

* Mane: 17 goals/12 assists in 48 apps (One every 122 mins)

Plus, this season, Sterling is streets way ahead of Mane in the end product department:

* Sterling: 9 goals/assists in 7 apps (One every 65 mins).

* Mane: 5 goals/assists in 5 apps (One every 89 mins)

In all fairness, one the basis of end product, Sterling - hailed by Pepe Guardiola as 'fantastic' - deserves to be in the team of the season ahead of Mane, but hopefully, over an entire season, Mane will remain consistent, and - with any luck - outscore/create Sterling.
