Transfer Battle: Liverpool still keen to sign 'sensational' €40m playmaker; Klopp to fight for deal

Earlier, this month, Liverpool reportedly sent scouts to watch 'sensational' Borussia Moenchengladbach (BMG) star Mahmoud Dahoud, and new reports this week suggest that the Reds will face stiff competition for the coveted midfielder during upcoming transfer windows.

In August, Dahoud's Agent confirmed Liverpool's interest in €40m-rated Dahoud, and according to Sky Sports:

"Liverpool are set to go toe-to-toe with Juventus over Borussia Monchengladbach wonderkid Mahmoud Dahoud next summer".

After winning five titles in a row, Juve are one of Europe's top teams right now, and like Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and PSG, the club can basically guarantee Champions League football every single year.

The same cannot be said of Liverpool, but if Jurgen Klopp gets the Reds into the Europe's premier competition this season, then (in theory) it will become a lot easier to attract players like Dahoud. The question, who if Liverpool sign Dahoud, whose place in midfield will come under threat?

* If Jordan Henderson remains captain, then he will stay in the team for most games (whether fans like it or not).

* If Klopp sticks with a 433 formation, that leaves Can, Grujic, Wijnaldum, Stewart, Lucas, Lallana (if he stays in midfield), and Dahoud fighting it out of for the other two places (or, just one place in a 4231).

This level of competition may be sustainable in the Champions League/Europa League, but without European competition? Forget it.
