Anfield-bound? Liverpool Reps fly out to watch 'top-class' €7.5m striker who's like 'Vialli'. Klopp impressed

The transfer window may be closed right now, but new reports this week suggest that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is already compiling potential future targets.

According to TalkSport:

"Liverpool are interested in [signing] Torino star Andrea Belotti...during the January transfer window. [Both] clubs have been scouting Belotti in recent weeks...and have been impressed by his performances".

Some info about Belotti:

* 22-year old striker, who can also play as a winger, or a second striker. Cost Torino €7.5m.

* Palermo/Torino: 32 goals/16 assists (48) in 103 apps (One every 117 mins). One appearance for the Italy national team.

* Oct 2013: According to Emiliano Mondonico (Belotti's manager at Albinoleffe): "He [Belotti] is a top-class player; a muscly striker with an eye for goal. He reminds me of Gianluca Vialli"

* Jun 2014: Italy U20 coach Alberigo Evani raved: "There are few like him. He does double duty: he is the first defender for the team, and always makes an important contribution".

Do Liverpool need another striker? Absolutely. In my view, Ings and Origi are not the long-term solution, and if Sturridge gets injured again at some point this season, the Reds will be light up-front.

Belotti clearly matches the Klopp transfer template: cheap; relatively unknown; a hard worker who appears to prioritise defensive duty. Liverpool's poor history with Italian players aside, is Belotti worth a bid?
