After a confidence-boosting win over Premier League champions Leicester, Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge on Friday, and according to Jurgen Klopp, Antonio Conte's Chelsea team have have one big advantage over the Reds.
In his pre-match press conference this week, Klopp outlined a big difference between the two teams:
"They [Chelsea] are so experienced. they can play a really ugly game, but they always score. Experience [can] make you stronger. We are a much younger team. They are more experienced. That’s their only advantage".
Klopp is right about the gap in experience. Chelsea may have imploded last season, but their team is filled with title-winners and Champions League winners:
* Title-Winners: Hazard, Luiz, Kante, Terry, Costa, Oscar, Fabregas, Willian, Pedro, Courtois, Mikel, Matic, Ivanovic, Cahill, Zouma, Azpilicueta
* CL/EL Winners: Hazard, Luiz, Terry, Oscar, Willian, Pedro, Ivanovic
As for Liverpool:
* Title-Winners: Grujic (RSB), Milner, Wijnaldum (PSV), Mane (Salzburg)
* CL/EL Winners: Sturridge (Chelsea), Moreno (Sevilla).
Clearly, there's a massive gulf in trophy-winning experience at the highest level, and that may be telling over an entire season, but it's debatable whether it matters in a one-off game.
