Grujic Beware? 'Sensational' £25m Klopp target receives massive boost. Liverpool offer expected in January

The 2016 Golden Boy nominees have been released, and the list contains two players repeatedly linked with transfers to Liverpool.

Reds signing Marko Grujic is amongst the 40 candidates for the Golden Boy prize, but he faces competition from transfer targets Mahmoud Dahoud, and Ruben Neves, both of whom are - like Grujic - central midfielders.

Dahoud

The 'sensational' Borussia Moenchengladbach midfielder is reportedly one of Jurgen Klopp's top targets, and last week, the Daily Express claimed:

"Jurgen Klopp had his scouts check out Dahoud during BMG's recent hammering at Manchester City. Liverpool are plotting a £25m bid when the transfer window opens".

Neves

Liverpool were last linked with Neves in July, with Portuguese newspaper Record claiming that the Reds were willing to meet the Neves' £31m release clause. Jurgen Klopp has also reportedly sent scouts to watch Neves, who, according to Porto B boss Luis Castro, has 'extraordinary mental talents'.

If Liverpool end up signing either Neves or Dahoud, Grujic will have (even more) direct competition in his position, which will inevitably make it harder for him to maintain a regular first-team place.

The question is, with Can and Grujic in the squad, why is Klopp seemingly trying to sign yet another young central midfielder?
