Last month, the agent of long-time Liverpool target Piotr Zielinski revealed that the Pole's proposed transfer is 'at risk, after two weeks of radio silence, it appears that the Reds are still in the race, and close to sealing a deal.
On May 5th, Gazetta Dello Sport's Nicolo Schira claimed Liverpool submitted a €15m offer for Zielinski.
Soon after, Andrzej Twarowski - presenter of League Extra, a football show on Canal + Poland - insisted that the Reds had reached an agreement to sign Zielinski.
One Euro capitulation later, and Zielinksi's agent told ForzaRoma:
“The Liverpool move is at risk. At the moment he [Zielinski] is totally concentrated on the Euros.”
Well, on Thursday, Rai Sport journalist Tancredi Palmeri claimed:
"Zielinski has given his priority to find a deal with Liverpool, choosing them and refusing Napoli proposal".
I'll believe it when I see it. the allegedly 'amazing' Zielinski recently raved about the prospect of playing alongside Phillipe Coutinho, but if the Brazilian jumps ship, Liverpool will probably become a less attractive option.
Plus, Napoli can offer Zielinksi Champions League football, and in the cold light of day - and irrespective of his apparent affinity for the Reds - that will almost certainly play a major part in his choice of club.
To be honest, I'm not fussed if Liverpool fail with this deal. Zielinski is (arguably) not an upgrade on the club's current attacking players, and if the club is to progress from 8th place mediocrity, then significant upgrades are required.
