Boss Confirms: 'Amazing' £12m attacker wants to 'join Liverpool'. Klopp called him on Saturday

The Piotr Zielinski transfer saga continues! On Thursday, Rai Sport journalist Tancredi Palmeri claimed that Zielinski's 'priority' is to sign for Liverpool, and new developments this weekend suggest that Zielinski is indeed pushing for a move to Anfield.

Last month, Zielinski's agent admitted that the Pole's proposed transfer is 'at risk, but according to The Guardian today:

"Liverpool made a £9.5m bid...on Saturday...for Piotr Zielinski, with Jürgen Klopp also speaking to [Zielinski] on the phone. Udinese want £12m [and] Napoli have offered £8.7m plus add-ons".

In an interview this weekend, Napoli Chief Aurelio De Laurentiis has also confirmed Liverpool's offer:

“Liverpool have made a bid and Zielinski wants to join them [Liverpool], but we are trying to convince the player to join us”.

I'll believe it when I see it. Liverpool have been here several times before, with players allegedly desperate to sign for the club, and then ending up elsewhere. It won't surprise me in the slightest if Zielinski ends up at Napoli, who can offer Champions League football.

To be honest, I won't shed any tears if Liverpool lose out on this deal. Zielinski is (arguably) not an upgrade on the club's current attacking players, and if the club is to progress from 8th place mediocrity, then significant upgrades are required.

How good can Zielinski be if he can't get into Poland's team to play (with respect) international minnows like Northern Ireland?
