'New Busquets' to Anfield? €8m Bayern Munich powerhouse wants Liverpool transfer; Klopp 'likes' him

Based on recent developments, Jurgen Klopp appears to have failed in his attempt to sign German attacker Mario Gotze, but there may be a consolation prize, as one of Gotze's Bayern Munich team-mates is reportedly keen to sign for Liverpool.

Bayern midfielder Pierre Hojbjerg is allegedly one of Klopp's 'new targets', and according to German football expert Lee Price, the author of Jurgen Klopp's recent Biography:

"Hojbjerg would relish the opportunity to be developed by Klopp [and] Liverpool is the perfect option. Hojbjerg is a class act with bags of potential. He's just the type of player Klopp likes."

Hojbjerg - described as the 'New Busquets' - confirmed last month that he wants out of Bayern this summer, and when asked about his future plans, he told Danish newspaper BT:

"I want to leave and find the right place. It's clear that it won't be a top club, but I want a place where there is a perspective".

Some info about €8m-rated Hojbjerg:

* 20-year old central midfielder, who can also play as an AM or a DM. Has also played on the left/right wings.

* Only 25 apps for Bayern in the last three seasons (Averaged 40 mins if playing time per game).

* 2015-16: Spent the year on loan at Schalke (2 goals/assists in 30 apps).

* ESPN Scouting Report (excerpt): "Tall and solidly built. Technical ability is unquestioned. Composed on the ball. Fine passing range. Intelligent in his positioning".

This has all the hallmarks of a Jurgen Klopp transfer (cheap, young, big and strong etc), but it's not a signing that will excite the fanbase, or immediately push Liverpool to the next level. Plus, Hojbjerg is yet another central midfielder, and with Can, Henderson, Grujic, Allen, Lucas, Brannagan, Stewart, and Chirivella, the club is (arguably) oversubscribed in that area.
