Done Deal: Liverpool agree cut-price transfer for 'wonderful' midfield playmaker. Deal being finalised this week

Liverpool's academy set-up fails again! In December, contract talks with Reds youngster Jordan Rossiter were reportedly 'continuing', but it now appears that the'wonderful' midfielder is on the verge of leaving Anfield.

According to the Liverpool Echo:

"Jordan Rossiter will leave Liverpool this summer to sign for Rangers [and] the Reds will receive just £250,000 in compensation. Rangers contacted Liverpool on Friday [and] talks will take place over the coming days".

£250k? What a joke, especially for a homegrown player with obvious talent. That said, this is am example of what happens when a young player is overpraised, and that's certainly been the case with Rossiter. Examples:

* John Aldridge: "I like [Jordan] * Rossiter. When he was 15 he was playing for the U18s, which is a tremendous accolade for the lad. He’s a great talent"

* Jamie Carragher: "I like the look of him [Rossiter]. He's got a bit of character and steel that me and Stevie have had. He's not shy, will put himself about and clearly is a good footballer".

* Kolo Toure: “Jordan Rossiter is a great player. I really like this boy. He scored a great goal and showed the strength of Liverpool Football Club. Every day when he comes to training he gives 100%" .

* Robbie Fowler Fowler: "Jordan Rossiter [is] potentially a young Stevie G. He's a very good player".

The brutal truth (IMO) is that Rossiter will not be missed. After all, how can Liverpool miss a player who has barely featured in the first team? He may develop into a top class talent at Rangers, but that will only come with regular first-team football, and with the intense competition, he probably won't get that at Anfield.

Plus, Liverpool have Cameron Brannagan, who appears to have moved ahead of Rossiter in the pecking order.

That said, perhaps it's worth including a buy-back clause in any contract with Rangers?
