Transfer Breakthrough: Liverpool free to sign 'excellent' international for £12m; Klopp in contact with club

Liverpool continue to be linked with a summer move for FC Koln star Jonas Hector, and according to Koln coach Peter Stoger, the German club is willing to sell...for the right price.

Last week, Bild claimed:

"Liverpool are tracking FC Koln Jonas Hector [who] is seen as a replacement for Alberto Moreno".

Soon after, Hector told Eurosport that he'd definitely 'think about' a move to Liverpool.

When asked on Thursday about Liverpool's interest in Hector, Stoger, told Kicker:

"If somebody should offer us a three-figure million sum, we'd probably sell. If a two-figure million sum is offered, we'd consider it. And if Hector says that he doesn't want to stay, we'd have to face up to it."

This seems to fit with a report in The Mirror, which claims:

"Klopp – who has monitored Hector during this season – has been told Cologne will do business at £12m".

Some info about Hector, who, according to Stoger, is an 'insanely good' player:

* 25-year old left back. Current contract expires: June 2018. Missed only five games through injury for his entire career.

* 10 goals/assists in 124 games for Koln. 10 apps for the German national team. First Koln player to make the national team since Lukas Podolski.

* 2013-14: Rated the 2nd best defender in the Bundesliga by Kicker magazine.

* Nov 2014: Podolski' reaction to Hector's international call-up: “Hector is an excellent player and I think he will get better in the future".

* Jan 2016: Came third in Germany's 'Player of the Year' awards (behind Mesut Ozil, and Thomas Muller).

Liverpool fans got a look at Hector in action this week during England's 302 victory over Germany. A viable replacement for Alberto Moreno?
