'Terrific': Redknapp hails 'magic' £20m attacker admired by Klopp. Liverpool free to sign for £12.5m

In May 2015, Liverpool were linked with a move for Stoke City winger Marko Arnautovic, and with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp a confirmed admirer of the powerhouse attacker, it's entirely possible that Liverpool may reignite interest this summer. Ex-Red Jamie Redknapp is also a big fan of Arnautovic, and he's once again praised the big attacker for his attacking contribution this season.

In his pre-Stoke press conference in January, Klopp enthused:

"Marco Arnautovic has made really good development. I know him from Germany - he’s a big talent, and now everyone can see how strong he can be".

In his column for the Daily Mail this week, Redknapp - who previously described Arnautovic as a 'magic' player - enthused:

"Arnautovic is a terrific player and...the best thing about him this season is that he’s learned to find the target. He has nine Premier League, whereas in his last two combined he scored five".

Overall, Arnautovic has 14 goals/assists in 31 games this season, which is a decent return, but it's not worth £20m£20m, which - according to Redknapp - is what he's worth.

If Arnautovic was English, then the extortionate premium attached to buying British players may push his fee to that level, but I can't see any top Premier club paying that kind of money. Luckily, according to The Telegraph:

"Arnautovic...has a £12.5m buy-out clause in his contract that can be triggered in July and leave the Potters powerless".

Like Andriy Yarmolenko, Arnautovic is tall (6'3) and strong, and he'd be a marked (and welcome) contrast to the smaller attackers who are regularly bullied off the ball for Liverpool. Additionally, if Liverpool go in for him again this summer, then £12.5m is a far more attractive transfer fee.

A viable transfer target this summer?
