Contact Made: LFC chase exciting striker who wants to 'play for Liverpool'. £9m Offer made already

Last Week, Argentine striker Lucas Alario confirmed that he's interested in a move to Anfield, and new reports this week suggest that the Reds have made contact with River Plate to discuss a possible summer transfer.

When asked last week about Liverpool's interest, Alario told Argentine TV Show TyC Sports:

"Given the choice, I'd like to experience the Premier League, and I'd like to play for Liverpool. I always select them when I play football on the Playstation".

Well, it appears that a transfer may actually be a possibility. According to ESPN this week:

"Liverpool have made enquiries about Lucas Alario, a source close to the Argentine club has told ESPN. Liverpool have been scouting Alario for some time".

This matches a report from Argentine news portal Infobae, which claims that:

* Liverpool contacted River plate last week to discuss the possibility of a transfer,

* The Reds allegedly made an $8m [£6m] offer, but River Plate are holding out for $12m [£9m].

Some info about 23-year old Alario:

* Centre-forward, who can also play as a secondary striker, or a left-winger. Current contract expires in 2018.

* 15 goals/assists in 22 apps for River Plate (One every 117 mins)

* Dec 2015: Played against Barcelona in the World Club Cup Final.

* Apart from a dislocated shoulder earlier this season, Alario has remained injury free since 2011.

Like Marko Grujic, Alario is cheap, comparatively unknown, and under the radar, which means he fits Jurgen Klopp's (historical) transfer template. A viable option?
