Shock Transfer: Liverpool to make £10m bid for £75k-a-week midfielder who loves Coutinho.

Despite being (arguably) oversubscribed in the position, Liverpool continue to be linked with central midfielders, and the latest name to enter the fray is Manchester City star Fernando.

According to Italian newspaper Tutto Mercato:

"Liverpool will make a £10m summer offer for Fernando, who is also wanted by his old club Porto".

The Liverpool Echo further adds:

"Klopp is a big admirer of Fernando, who he sees as the ideal signing...but the Reds boss is reluctant to pay over the odds".

Some info about Fernando, who is reportedly on 75k-a-week at City:

* Defensive midfielder, whose current contract expires: 2019. 4 goals/assists in 64 games for City.

* three injuries in the last 18 months: 2x groin; 1x hamstring (18 games missed overall).

* Manchester Evening News assessment: "Fernando's time at City has largely seen him fail to impress [and] his lack of mobility has undoubtedly held him back".

* On life in the Prem: "It’s really hard. I haven’t reached my level here yet and the language is a problem. The Premier League is very challenging".

* On Coutinho: "For me, he is the best Brazilian playing in Europe at the moment.”

So, let's see: a player who lacks mobility; finds the Premier League 'really hard', and has never been capped by Brazil?

What's the point of spending £10m on a 28-year old Brazilian DM with mobility issues when Liverpool have Lucas...a 28-year old Brazilian DM with mobility issues? Thanks but no thanks.
