Confirmed Liverpool team: 'Sensational' attacker dumped from the squad; £18m star ignored; midfielder out;

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made three changes for today's Premier League clash with Southampton.

FULL TEAM: Mignolet, Flanagan, Lovren, Sakho, Clyne, Can, Allen, Lallana, Coutinho, Origi, Sturridge

SUBS: Ward, Toure, Benteke, Henderson, Skrtel, Smith, Ojo

SOUTHAMPTON: Forster, Clasie, Fonte, Long, Davis, Tadic, Romeu, Martina, Van Dijke, Pelle, Bertrand

* Club captain Jordan Henderson drops to the bench, which is probably a good idea given his ongoing heel issue.

* Origi comes in for Roberto Firmino, and unless Klopp goes with two up-font, it looks like he'll be played slightly out of position as a wide player.

* Jon Flanagan replaces Hendo as captain. Personally, I would've given it to Sakho, who arguably deserves it after his imperious midweek performance at Man Utd.

* After being largely ignored over the last month, it's good to see a couple of academy players back on the bench.

* For whatever reason, Klopp has dumped Jordon Ibe from the matchday squad. Ibe hasn't started a game since Jan 30th, and after being a sub/subbed off or in six of the last seven games, he appears to be out of favour.

* Daniel Sturridge hasn't scored a goal in nearly 7 hours of open play. He's due one, and hopefully that will be today.

* In the last two games, Clyne's passing accuracy has been a pitiful 40% (worst of the season) and 59% respectively. Clearly, that needs to improve today.

Probable formation:

--------------- Mignolet
Flanagan -- Lovren -- Sakho ---- Clyne
------------- Can ---- Allen
----Lallana --- Coutinho ---- Origi
--------------- Sturridge
