Confirmed: £66m Liverpool-trio will miss Augsburg; Klopp admits it's 'not not good' for 'ill' Lovren

On Thursday evening, Liverpool face Augsburg in the Europa League, and ahead of the tie, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that several senior players will definitely miss the game.

In his pre-match press conference today, Klopp told reporters:

"Joe Allen is in a good way but not available, Adam Lallana is not available for tomorrow.

"Martin Skrtel is not available. Dejan was one day in training, now he’s ill, that’s not good".

Allen et al were not available for the first leg in Augsburg, and even if they were fit for tomorrow's game, it's unlikely they'd come straight back into the team.

Bar Lallana, of course, who is clearly a Klopp favourite.

Given the renewed defensive solidity over the last two games, it seems likely that Klopp will stick with the same team that started the first leg:

* Mignolet, Clyne, Sakho, Toure, Moreno, Henderson, Coutinho, Can, Milner, Firmino, Sturridge.

My apathy towards Emre Can aside, it's probably the right decision to go with the same team. Good results start with a solid defensive base, and as the old saying goes: 'if it 'aint broke, don't fix it'.

Whatever happens, after an entire week off, Liverpool have absolutely no excuse for poor performance against Augsburg tomorrow, and given the respective financial power of each team, anything but a win for LFC is surely unacceptable.

^ Allen: £20m-rated. Lallana: Cost £26m. Lovren: Cost £20m.
