'I love LFC!' - Midfield sensation confirms he'd sign for 'Liverpool over Barcelona/Madrid' because of Prem 'atmosphere'

Despite signing for LFC in January, Reds fans still have to wait another 6+ months before seeing Marko Grujic in action, and ahead of his summer move to Anfield, the 19-year old midfielder has claimed that Liverpool was always his number-one transfer choice.

In a detailed interview this week with Serbian newspaper Blic, Grujic - nicknamed the 'New Pogba' in Italy - raved:

“I would choose Liverpool over Real Madrid and Barcelona. I love them [LFC]! I love the Premier League because of the energy and the atmosphere.”

Hmmm. Admirable sentiments, and I'm sure Grujic's comments will endear him to Liverpool fans, but I'd take his comments with a pinch of salt.

If Real Madrid and Barcelona had gone in hard to sign Grujic in January, I sincerely doubt he'd be wearing a Liverpool shirt next season.

Grujic also revealed how Klopp plans to use him next season:

"His [Klopp's] vision is that I should be something between a No 6 and a No 10. What they call a box-to-box midfielder".

With this in mind, it's clear that Emre Can's place in the team will be most under threat from Grujic's arrival.

And that's fine with me!

Jordan Henderson is also (ostensibly) a box-to-box midfielder, but he is the club's captain, and if he remains in that role, there's no way he'll be sidelined in favour of a 19-year old with no Premier League experience.

With any luck, Grujic will display all the qualities missing in Can, namely: game intelligence; speed of thought on the ball (and ability to 'see' the game before it unfolds); selfless ability to keep it simple; accurate passing ability in the final third etc.
