Boss confirms: 'Incredible' £38m sensation who wants Liverpool transfer may leave. Done deal this week?

The Alex Teixeira speculation just keeps on coming, and Shakhtar Donetsk boss head coach Mircea Lucescu has given the strongest indication yet that the Brazilian will leave during the current transfer window.

Speaking to FourFourTwo on Tuesday, Lucescu admitted that it's 'time for Teixeira to go' and insisted that he won't 'keep a player against his desire'.

Lucescu further enthused:

"He [Teixeira] is worth €50m [£38m]. He’s incredible, very fast, very good technique. I compare him with other players of the same age [like] Di Maria for example at PSG.

"Teixeira can be better. He doesn’t get injured, and every year he gets better and better."

Again, I don't see how Teixeira - who reportedly wants to join Liverpool - is 'worth €50m', especially when - at the age of 26-year - he's never been selected for his national team.

Lucescu can keep saying it but it doesn't make it true. Liverpool have lost on deals in the past by using lowball tactics, but in this instance, the club is (IMO) absolutely right to be sensible about the transfer fee.

Since 2010, FSG have repeatedly spent over the odds on grossly overpriced players (Carroll, Lallana, Markovic, Lovren etc), so surely the group has learned its lesson?

For the right price (i.e. £20m-£25m), I say bring it on. Any more than that, and it's a massive (and costly) risk, especially when Andriy Yarmolenko - who has a vastly superior goals/assists record - is available for a comparatively piffling £14.5m (his buyout clause)
