Contact Made: After Teixiera fail, Liverpool make €18m offer for 'excellent' international attacker

With the the deal for Alex Teixeira seemingly dead in the water, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly turned his attention to a different attacking target.

According to TalkSport today:

"Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race to Spanish attacker Nolito, [and] the club has submitted an €18m bid for the Spanish attacker".

If this story is true, it looks like the Reds have activated Nolito's release clause, which currently stands at €18m.

Some info about Nolito:

* 29 year old left-winger, who can also play on the right. Current Contract expires in June 2019.

* 35 goals/22 assists (52) in 89 apps for Celta Vigo (One every 119 mins). Four appearances for the Spain national team.

* This season: 13 goals/assists in 15 games (One every 101 mins)

* Dec 2012: Agent confirmed Liverpool's interest in a transfer: "Clubs like Valencia and Liverpool are interested in him [Nolito] but there are still no concrete proposals".

* Nov 2015: Celta coach Eduardo Berizzo raved: "Nolito is good enough to play in any team, including Barcelona."

* Nov 2015: When asked about his future, Nolito told reporters: "I have my feet on the ground. I intend to disconnect from the stories around about my future. What will happen will happen".

* Jan 2016: Berizzo told reporters: "I have no notification from my club that the exit of Nolito is true, but if it happens, we need to have the capacity to replace him".

* Jan 2016: Sergio Busquets' assessment: "Nolito would bring us [Barcelona] a threat in the flank as he is doing at Celta. He is an excellent player."

Nolito is a tough, robust player, who's suffered only two injuries in the last ten years. However, it wouldn't be Liverpool-related without some kind of hamstring injury, and like Teixeira, the Spaniard is currently out injured with...a hamstring injury (!)

A viable alternative to Teixeira?
