After an utterly insipid performance against Stoke City, Liverpool face West Ham in the FA Cup this weekend, and after losing twice to the Hammers already this season, can the Reds turn the tide and put Slaven Bilic's side to the sword?
Jurgen Klopp's pre-match updates:
On Lovren and Caulker: "It's good news. Dejan was on the bench against Stoke and is now back. Caulker is available for the FA Cup. He's like a new player".
On Coutinho: "He is close but he's not in the team training [yet]. He [will finish] his last two-three sessions with rehab and then he will be back on the pitch with us".
On Clyne and Skrtel: "No [Skrtel is not fit]. Nathaniel, possibly, but we are not sure. He is much better, it was knee against knee and that's really painful".
On Hendo: "He can be an option. He did really well for the team in a difficult time with a long-term injury, still having problems, only pain but it's always pain".
Given the exertion of the Stoke game, changes will surely be made. Caulker, for example, surely has to start? Sakho and Toure have played 4 games in 12 days, and it seems counter-productive to rinse two players with regular injury problems.
That's what Klopp does, though, both at Dortmund and at Anfield - he rinses players, keeps them in the team irrespective of injury issues. Unsurprisingly, this leads to...more injuries. Possible lineup:
------------------- Ward
Randall ---- Caulker -- Sakho --- Smith
-------- Milner -- Lucas -- Allen
------------- Ibe ----- Teixeira
----------------- Firmino
West Ham are a more potent attacking force than Stoke City, so if Liverpool put in another terrible performance, they're more than capable of winning the game.
