'He Cannot Play': Klopp confirms' amazing' £25m Liverpool star will miss 'West Ham/Leicester because of rehab 'interruptions'

Same sh^t, different week. With almost six months of the season gone, Daniel Sturridge remains on the sidelines, and according to Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, there's still no timeframe on the striker's return to action.

When asked today about Sturridge's injury situation, Klopp told reporters:

"He [Sturridge] cannot play tomorrow [or] against Leicester. I don't know what happens after this to be honest".

Klopp also outlined the frustrating stop-start nature of Sturridge's rehabilitation:

"He's still working; sometimes it's better and sometimes it's a bit worse because there's always interruptions through a few different issues where we always have to wait for what will happen. That's how it is".

Whenever I hear about these ongoing injury woes, I'm reminded of the following statement from Scott Schrimscher, the US fitness specialist who claimed to have solved Sturridge's injury issues. Back in January 2015, he raved:

“Daniel has an incredible work ethic and is wonderful to work with. He is a class act and has a bright future ahead".

Bright future? A year later, and Sturridge - recently described by Lucas Leiva as an 'amazing' player - is struggling more than ever, and is incapable of remaining fit for for more than a few games at a time (!)

Just imagine where Liverpool might be if £25m-rated Sturridge had been fit for most of the season. Sturridge basically guarantees goals (his LFC history proves this), and if he wasn't made of glass, its conceivable that the Reds might be 8-10 points better off right now.

Right now, a new Sturridge-like striker has to be Liverpool's number-one transfer priority. Even if Sturridge miraculously returns to fitness this season, Klopp cannot go into next season relying on him in any way. Rodgers made that mistake, and it killed Liverpool's 2014-15 season.

History is repeating itself somewhat this year, too, and a proper solution needs to be found.
