Done Deal: 'Spectacular' playmaker with 'tremendous drive' confirms he's 'signed' for 'Liverpool' on 'professional contract'

With only five months of the season remaining, Academy players like Jordan Rossiter, and Jerome Sinclair are still waiting for new long-term contracts, but that's not the case for Herbie Kane, who has confirmed this week that he's set for an extended stay at Anfield.

On Friday, Kane tweeted:

"Happy to sign a long term professional contract at Liverpool!"

Some info about Kane:

* 17-year old midfielder. Signed as a 14-year old from Bristol City.

* Description on the official Liverpool FC website: "Lively player in the middle of the park. Capable of scoring spectacular goals, he will be a regular member of the U18s squad in 2015-16".

* On his form last season: "I’ve got 15 goals for the U16s and U18s at Liverpool this season. I want to start scoring and assisting more for the team to help us win as I hate losing".

* U18 Boss Neil Critchley's assessment: "Herbie's got tremendous drive and determination and he gives you everything he's got in every single training session. He's a delight to work with".

Who is the next Academy player who deserves an extended contract?

Joao Carlo Teixeira's contract expires in the summer, and in my view, he should quit Anfield and go somewhere else in search of regular first-team football.
