Transfer Solution? 'Fantastic' star admits he'd 'love' to play 'at Liverpool' and replace Mignolet

With the January transfer window less than a week away, Liverpool continue to be linked with a whole host of new goalkeepers, but there's one particular 'keeper who's determined to oust Mignolet from the number-one spot, and he's already at the club.

With 11 clean sheets already this season, on-loan Liverpool 'stopper Danny Ward is having a superb season for Aberdeen, and when asked about his Anfield future this week, the 22-year old made it clear that he's gunning for Mignolet's place in the starting line-up. He mused:

"[It's my] ambition to be Liverpool's first-choice. I have a self-belief where I think I can play at the highest level. Ideally that's at Liverpool, and long term, I would love to be their No 1".

Ward - described as 'fantastic' by Aberdeen team-mate Scott Brown - recently spent a couple of days training under Jurgen Klopp at Melwood, and after working with the German, he noted:

"[He's] a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed the sessions and the players are enjoying working with him".

Aberdeen are currently second in the Scottish Premier League table, just a point behind league leaders Celtic, and Ward's stats this season are certainly impressive:

WARD vs. MIGNOLET

Goals Conceded

* DW: 28 in 27 games (1 every 86 mins)

* SM: 23 in 23 games (1 every 90 mins)

Clean Sheets

* DW: 11 in 28 games (40% of games/1 every 220 mins)

* SM: 8 in 23 games (35% of games/1 every 258 mins)

Shot-Stopping

* DW: Saved 65 of 93 shots on target (70%).

* SM: Saved 40 of 63 shots target (63%)

Over the summer, Liverpool handed Ward a new 5-year contract, which suggests that the club sees him as an option for the future. A possible challenger for Mignolet next season?
