Liverpool Nightmare: Rodgers confirms new 'injury' blow for 'tremendous' £65k-a-week LFC star. Transfer imminent?

Liverpool currently have a number of injured players on the sidelines, and the the club's injury nightmare continued against Sion last night, with another experienced member of the squad picking up yet another issue.

In his post-match press conference, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed:

“We’ve obviously got a number of injuries, hence the reason why we needed to protect one or two for this game.

“The only forced injury [against Sion] was obviously Kolo coming off, but with the rest that was the plan before the game.”

Toure can't catch a break at the moment. Against Bordeaux, the Ivorian had to go off early after being clattered by Simon Mignolet, and now he's picked up another issue. Liverpool's current injury list:

* Benteke (£32m)

* Firmino (£29m)

* Henderson (£20m)

* Flanagan

* Toure

* Lovren (£20m)

That's over £100m worth of talent sidelined, but the reality is that even *with* Hendo, Benteke, and Firmino in the squad, Liverpool have struggled this season.

It sounds harsh, but losing 'tremendous' Toure is no great shakes, and with Gomez, and Can in the squad, there's plenty of cover at centre-back.

Toure is currently the subject of transfer speculation, and earlier this week, Antalyaspor Chairman Gultekin Gencer confirmed:

"Our transfer list is thick and includes the likes of Adebayor and Kolo Toure".

Toure - who reportedly earns £65k-a-week at Anfield - has regularly hinted at an Anfield exit over the last year, and after this latest injury setback, he may find it hard to get back in the team, especially if Liverpool continue to churn out poor results.

If that's the case, maybe Toure will decide to jump ship in January in a bid to get regular game time?

Being an ambassador and a role model is one thing, but no footballer wants to rot away on the bench all season, and if Toure decides he wants to leave, who can blame him?
