Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has named the same team that started against Aston Villa last week for today's crunch clash with Everton at Goodison Park.
FULL TEAM: Mignolet, Skrtel, Sakho, Can, Clyne, Moreno, Lucas, Milner, Coutinho, Ings, Sturridge
SUBS: Bogdan, Gomez, Rossiter, Allen, Ibe, Lallana, Origi
EVERTON: Howard, Galloway, Funes Mori, Jagielka (c), Browning, Barry, McCarthy, Naismith, Barkley, Deulofeu, Lukaku.
SUBS: Robles, Gibson, Oviedo, Kone, Lennon, Osman, Holgate.
* Lallana has the right to be disappointed today. He scored on Thursday, and now he's dropped to the bench, which is (IMO) bad man-management. Why should he continue to put in the effort if he's never rewarded for it?
* Good to see Sturridge starting again. The striker has a great record against Everton, and after seven days of recovery time, he should be raring to go.
* The even better news is that Sturridge will not go on international duty after the game, so there's no chance of injury before the Spurs game.
* Gomez is on the bench for the fourth league game in a row. He's clearly a victim of the formation switch, just like Javier Manquillo last season.
* Everton are missing some big players, including Baines, Mirallas, Stones, Coleman, and Cleverly, which is massive boost for Liverpool.
* Everton's bench is also pretty weak, so if Liverpool can get into the lead, Martinez has very few top quality options to bring into the game.
* Even with these advantages, though, Everton are on fire creatively this season, and are currently averaging two goals a game, with Lukaku already on 8 goals/assists for the season. The Belgian has directly contributed to more goals than the entire Liverpool team put together (!)
