Anfield-bound? Liverpool chase exciting £12m 'talent of the year' who 'idolises Cristiano Ronaldo'

With two months of the new season gone, Liverpool are already planning for the January transfer window, and new reports today suggest that the Reds are tracking one of Ajax's brightest prospects.

According to The Mirror on Saturday"

* Liverpool are tracking 20-year old Dutch star Anwar El Ghazi.

* Scouts from a across Europe are 'flocking' to Ajax games to watch the £12m-rated attacker.

* Everton and Southampton are also interested.

Some info about El Ghazi:

* 6'2 right-winger, who can also play as a striker.

* Ajax: 27 goals/assists in 56 games (goal/assists every 2 games)

* This season: 8 goals/assists in 10 games.

* 2014-15: Scored 8 goals in 150 minutes during pre-season for Ajax.

* 2015: Named Ajax 'Talent of the Year'.

* 4 goals in 12 games various Holland youth teams.

* This week: Called up to the Holland national team for the first time.

* Ronaldo de Boer on the Ronaldo comparisons: assessment: "He [El Ghazi] idolises Ronaldo and is trying to copy him. He is similar in height and style".

* De Boer on El Ghazi's attributes: "Anwar tries to shoot like Cristiano and he has great ability. He is a great header of the ball, he can shoot with his left and right and he can dribble".

* De Boer on where El Ghazi needs to improve: "He is too weak in the legs. His upper body is much more powerful. Anwar likes to emulate Ronaldo, but instead of imitating tricks, he should focus on his body".

* Jaap Stam's view: "He [El Ghazi] has the talent and skills to become a good player, but he needs to concentrate on his work and keep the level up."

Having watched him play on numerous occasions, El Ghazi is a legitimately exciting talent, and most importantly, he's different to all of Liverpool's current attacking player (senior, and Academy).

Brendan Rodgers seemingly has a preference for smaller attackers with a low centre of gravity, and there are consequently very few tall, attacking players at Anfield.

Liverpool need to mix it up a bit, and an attacking player like El Ghazi (or Yarmolenko, another 6'2 attacker) should be a priority.

Worth a bid?
