Aldo insists: Forgotten £30m Liverpool-duo 'will start' against Bordeaux. BR to drop £20m star?

After two damaging defeats in a row, the pressure is well and truly on for Brendan Rodgers, and the only way to appease the fans and the media is to get back to winning ways, starting with Liverpool's Europa League clash with Bordeaux. Rodgers will be desperate for a good performance ahead of this weekend's home game against Norwich, and according to Reds legend John Aldridge, the team needs to undergo wholesale changes.

In his Monday column for the Liverpool Echo, Aldo urged Rodgers to start the following seven players:

"I expect that Sakho and Toure will start, Moreno too [Combined cost: £30m].

With three games in a week, resting players and utilising the whole squad is (in theory) a good idea.

However, Liverpool desperately need a win, so Rodgers will probably play (what he perceives to be) his strongest possible team, and that means that Toure will miss out.

I'd expect the following:

* If fit, Lallana to come back into the team at the expense of Ings.

* Milner, Can, and Lucas to continue in midfield.

* Moreno to come in for Gomez on the left.

* Lovren [cost: £20m] to be 'rested', with Sakho taking his place.

* Skrtel and Clyne to remain constants in the back four.

* Benteke to start.

I can't see Benteke being rested, especially when Liverpool need a win.

The Belgian has scored two of Liverpool's three goals this season, and if he's not in the team, who is going to score?

The good news is that Philippe Coutinho will be back for the game, and that's a big boost for the team.

If Liverpool lose against Bordeaux, it'll be three defeats in a row for the Reds, and nine defeats in seventeen games overall.

On the plus side, Liverpool have FOUR home games in a row after after this Thursday's game, and a win will set the team up to put a positive run together.

It remains to be seen, however, if this team is capable of stringing 3-4 positive results together.
