Liverpool have signed three players since the end of the recent train-wreck of a season, and new reports suggest that the Reds are considering a summer move for Paris St. Germain left-back Lucas Digne.
According to French newspaper L'Equipe this week:
* Liverpool have made an official 'enquiry' about Digne's availability.
* Roma are also interested in the 21-year old, who is allegedly valued at €20m by PSG.
In December, Digne's agent, Mikkel Beck, blasted PSG for condemning the youngster to constant bench duty. He told Le 10 Sport:
"I know he is unhappy on the bench, and he wants to play more. However, his anger and frustration give him the strength to try even harder in training, or when he has the chance to be on the field"
Some info about Digne, hailed as an 'immense hope of French football' by PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi:
* Left-back who can also play left-midfield.
* Cost PSG €15m in 2013.
* A measly 44 appearances in 2 seasons for PSG (average of 22 apps per year)
* 8 apps for the France national team.
* 2013: Helped France win the U20 World Cup.
* Recently lost his place in the France team as a result of reduced playing time at PSG.
* Only one significant injury so far (sprained ankle last season)
* Liverpool were linked with Digne back in 2013, and after signing for PSG, he rejected the suggestion that may regret the move to Paris. He told reporters: "I knew that I would be competing with big players if I chose PSG. I think it would be sad to have any regrets after just one month".
* When asked in May if he regretted his decision to sign for PSG, he told reporters: "No. I showed that I was ready to tackle a huge project at age 20, which shows I have the character to succeed at the highest level"
This seems like a strange link considering the Reds already have Alberto Moreno in the squad, a player who only signed for the club last summer:
* If Rodgers is genuinely interested in Digne, then it suggests a lack of confidence in the Moreno's ability to be Liverpool's long-term solution at left-back.
* With Glen Johnson now gone, and Javier Manquillo failing to hold down a regular place, Liverpool are in desperate need of a right-back, it's possible Rodgers is planning to play Digne on the right.
* It could also be the case that Rodgers is thinking of moving Moreno to the right, and using Digne on the left. Both ideas are nonsensical (IMO), but given the manager's frustrating propensity for square pegs in round holes, it's definitely a possibility.
* It's also possible that Digne is a potential replacement for Jose Enrique, who is too injury prone to be a serious option for the Reds.
In my view, left-back is not a priority position for Liverpool right now, but overall, the club is admittedly short of top-quality full-back options, and given Digne's perennial bench status at PSG, he may be amenable to a move.
On the other hand, he has 7 trophies to his name in two years, including two league titles, and there's little chance of him replicating that success at Liverpool (under Rodgers).
Worth pursuing?

What about Moreno competition?must it always be doom n gloom headlines for fans or player?
ReplyDeleteSNIPING*
ReplyDeleteIt could also be the case that Rodgers is thinking of moving Moreno to the right, and using Digne on the left. Both ideas are nonsensical (IMO), but given the manager's frustrating propensity for square pegs in round holes, it's definitely a possibility.
makes no sense imo moreno is good enough not his fault liverpool have no defensive strategy... thats what u get with no DEF Coach...
ReplyDeleteI think we're fine with Moreno, on a side note Aspas sold to sevilla who have apparently sold on to Celta Vigo
ReplyDeleteHes definately not good enough. His awareness is so poor he shouldnt be allowed to play football, especially not as a defender. He has good work rate and pace but hes very wasteful in crossing and possession. Always under pressure on his left, abit like sakho(good player). Morenos mistakes are too costly, especially the 2 mistakes against united, they were just silly and criminal.
ReplyDeleteAnyone but moreno. We need new full backs for sure. Maybe we should go for Coentrao. Hed be cheap and is top class and experienced.
Buy reus for 40m to replace overrated sterling, yarmolenko to play right for 20m, and play ings or origi uptop.
...........milner/hendo....can
Yarmolenko.......coutinho.....reus
...........................ings
Ings or origi may not be world class but at least they come with pace, something lambert borini balotelli lack. And our play needs pacey forwards for coutinho/hendo passes. To be fair i know we need aworld class striker, but if we put quality and goals on our wings, ings and origi will succeed without so much pressure on them.
Were not fine with moreno. At the start of the season he never tracked jovetic run and he scored. He never learnt his lesson and mata punished him, and mata nowhere near as fast as moreno.
ReplyDeleteIf we go into the season with moreno 1st choice, I wont be happy.
We should even try for felipe luis. He seems to have found the perfect partnership and linkup play with coutinho. Felipe luis a top player. Chelsea just want the money they paid. Hes experienced, a title winner and incredibly fast and not wasteful
moreno was good at sevilla (won the europa league), Lovren was good at southhampton... the difference between now and there sudden drastic dip in form is the lack of a defensive coach.... so i don't agree with u that moreno is not good enough...ings imo is not good enough for this LFC team and don't get me started on 29 year old james milner wouldn't be anywhere near my starting 11.... reus signed a contract recently so doubt he's going anywhere... maybe when Klopp comes that may change.... i agree with the pacey forwards and i would love aubameyang at LFC he is so underrated.... i agree with the yarmolenko link and imo he should be worth a punt... also if LFC was going after free players why not konoplyanka??? I hope we do some real transfer business as I for one am not pleased at what we have done so far
ReplyDeleteincredibly fast??? thats a bit of a hyperbole
ReplyDeleteSorry but I have lost all faith in BR's style of management onfield. LFC is a graveyard for young players unless the incoming young player is capable of playing good at at least 3-4 positions within his very first season. Else he will find himself frozen out of the squad as soon as he realised it's not even the end of his first season at a new club, probably a new country, ja, In Lazar Markovic I'm talking about.
ReplyDeleteSome of the good examples to look at: Lazar Markovic: left winger, right winger & right wingback; Raheem Sterling: left attacking midfielder (13/14), right winger, right wingback, no.10 & striker. Jordan Henderson: left midfield, right midfield, central midfield, attacking midfield, holding midfielder, basically anywhere in the midfield and last but not least, right wingback.
I'm not a football person, technically. I don't know how a team can excel in a 3-5-2/5-3-2 formation when one doesn't even have proper wingbacks on both sides. If the manager is so hellbend on the formation, he should get players in their natural positions to do the job. I will be really surprised to see positive results onfield when we have 'makeshift' players running all around the field. Placing in the table at the end of the season speaks louder than any words.
I don't mind having players from teams of lower stature. But I'm very concerned about having a clueless manager experimenting with formations and players at the heights of the season (I won't use the word tinker because from left winger to right wingback is not considered a tinker, at least to me). Before BR is sacked, news about any incoming players won't excite me to the least bit. Anyway, there's certainly nothing exciting here to talk about with the management's persistent go-English policy.
Rodgers claim to fame is that he develops young players ?
ReplyDeleteAt the rate he is going he will end more young players careers.
Even Sterling has turned on him ?
Moreno was in the team to score goal , ala Spurs ?
ReplyDeleteYup, starting all the way from Sahin to Borini to so many others. BR is a die-hard perennial atheist of the soccer term, natural position.
ReplyDeleteJaimie...LFC won`t sign anyone that`s worth more than whatever they end up paying for Danny Ings.....all incoming are going to be `freebies` at the rate we`re going...FSG just don`t want to give Rodgers any money(after the Tottenham transfer experiment from last season )...his only spend will come out of any player sales eg.Sterling....and what little he gets,he`ll blow again no doubt......roll on Jan and Jurgen Klopp !!!!!
ReplyDeleteReus? Hahaha. Dreaming. #1) Never have spent £40m on one player. #2) FSG don't buy top class players. #3) If you think Reus would join Liverpool you're as delusional as the mancs...If we're playing football manager Lacazette, Kondogbia and Clyne is all Liverpool need to challenge at the top.
ReplyDeleteYet another prospect. Now t makes sense, that is the only market we can shop in 'the young player market' and this market is becoming a very expensive exercise for LFC. Burn down the academy...
ReplyDeleteThen the player makes a name for himself using us as a stepping stone and then shows us the finger in the end.
Enough is enough. We need ready made players, we have more than enough prospects. Enough is enough.
Sterling has proven that helping young talent grow is not very rewarding !
ReplyDeletemake sense
ReplyDeleteMoreno has made costly mistakes this season but the approach for Digne is about providing competition not ditching him which makes sense as long as we get a decent right back like Montoya or Clyne. Still no suggestion of us looking for a solid defensive midfielder to provide a shield for the back 4. Totally underwhelming so far.
ReplyDeleteMoreno is not consistent enough and not very good defensively. We definitely need a competition at LB position. We have 3 young RB's and our primary focus should be to add depth at LB position.
ReplyDeleteexactly my point u don't just lose talent overnight... lallana was great at southampton, balotelli has scored the least goals under BR as compared to any other manager, mafkovic was a beast (and did score as a result of being in his right position in the internationals) at Benefica whats the difference between then and now... the manager.. Brendan Rodgers... he needs to leave the sooner the better
ReplyDeleteSpot on mate in everything you've said.
ReplyDeleteAnother prospect who most likely will struggle as much as Moreno.
ReplyDeletethank you red magic appreciate the comment
ReplyDeleteNeeds to be competition at LB,Moreno costs goals and gets caught out to much.
ReplyDeleteWhat else did he do? Overall, he was bloody average. He seems to forget that he's also meant to defend.
ReplyDeleteI think Moreno needed the season to bed in he is young and i believe will be a very good player.
ReplyDeleteYes he has been a bit poor defensively but he has a good attacking edge.
Defend ,whats that ,we just out score opposition .
ReplyDeleteIngs is young and will only improve on what he does this season he fits into our set up and to me rather him than Lambert or Borini.
ReplyDeleteBR doesn't care about defense... if i recall properly... in a press conference last season he made a snide remark with respect to the number of goals we scored by stating it was due to the defensive coach (i think not 100 per cent sure).... oh how that has come back to haunt him
ReplyDeleteAt least Moreno shows some potential i am sure he will be a better player next season but he needs to play as a full back not a wing back.
ReplyDeletei understand your point but ok the argument is ings will be 3rd or 4th ranked striker at the club... if that was the case why not promote yessil or sinclair and save the fees (tribunal fee may come back to bite us)... why go for ings if he is not a pegged on starter... this smacks of another comfort buy by BR.... short and english just how BR likes his players.... we need to drop BR the sooner more fans realize this the better
ReplyDeleteIt is a strange window so far i am not sure where they are going with it.
ReplyDeleteI realize the actual window has not opened yet but a quality striker and a D.M should be high on the agenda.
Moreno-killer? Phew, for a moment there I thought Raheem the Ripper had struck again.
ReplyDeleteI think Moreno will eventually morph into a great left back for Liverpool; in all fairness he probably didn't know what hit him when he was thrown into Liverpool's shoddy defensive unit last season, but he seems to have all the tools required to become a success. Individual errors became a feature of his season, but by then uncertainty seemed to have spread through the ranks like a disease. He's young and will hopefully learn from those mistakes. Nonetheless, the idea of strong competition in his position (and every position) is appealing and something the club should strive for, but not at the expense of filling the weakest positions first. If we were to invest in another LB my feeling is that it should be a player with experience, not another young player.
RB is clearly a priority, maybe Clyne, though I'm not sure my wounded pride can take another summer of being fleeced by Southampton. Montoya seems a solid, if unspectacular option.
Yeah but not everyone is a big a##hole like Raheem although 40 mill is not a bad reward.
ReplyDeletei hope so too a quality striker and D.M are needed... but i don't know if that will be the case BR is seemingly pushing out our only quality D.M out of the club (Lucas)... and so far the only midfielder rumours going about is for Kovacic a CAM.... idk whats going on theres been no real rumours about a quality striker neither (Benteke is not what LFC need)... so i am clueless right now also theres no news on the firing off Marsh or Pascoe on the LFC website and no rumours on repacements... right now i think we are in shambles.... we need a quality striker, quality CDM (although i do like Emre Can), quality RB and maybe a RW.... oh and a new manager
ReplyDeletesell him NOW
ReplyDeleteYour right about Reus but the 3 youve picked wont be coming either.
ReplyDeletePerhaps waiting for Sterling's future to be sorted first. I imagine his fee will heavily influence our targets and budget for those positions.
ReplyDeleteCould well be i see City are spending up maybe we could squeeze Fernandinho and 25 mill from them.
ReplyDeleteClyne might
ReplyDeleteHmmmm probably get fleeced again mate.
ReplyDeleteSupposedly City are preparing an improved offer of £40 million as we speak, which seems a crazy amount to me. I hope we
ReplyDeletefleece them for every penny we can get but I just can't realistically see us being offered much more than that, so maybe it would be foolish to turn it down.
Which quality striker are hoping for? Sorry to ask but there's absolutely no need to think of that. Higuini ( our only realistic target ) is joining arsenal whilst Martinez will soon to be confirmed a Milan player...i keep hearing some pundits who haven't got any kind of football brain kept saying milner And CO are the best lfc can do.., it's a total nonsense!.ings & Bogdan are the best BRENDAN RODGERS CAN DO..look at Ac Milan, they are in a worst situation than us so how they have to managed to sign him is what I don't know.
ReplyDeleteRe lfc : when you're signing ings, Bogdan etc (after a disastrous season ) it just shows how intent the manager is in making sure this club play in championship in two seasons time.
Yeah we are pushing it why shouldnt we? everyone fleeces us, i know its rare but a player plus cash deal would cut QPR out of a bit of dough.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, I'd forgotten about that damned sell-on clause.
ReplyDeleteMilner and Ings should be an improvement on some we should be shipping out Bogdan well i will put a wait n see on that.
ReplyDeleteWhat striker you ask well dont worry about who we can afford but who will come theres your answer.
'The Book on Footballing Success'
ReplyDeletewith contributions from Bob Paisley, Bill Shankly, Alex Fergeuson, Brian Clough, Fabio Capello, Carlo Ancellotti, Jupp Hynckes, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho......... Rodgers has other ideas and plans on writing his own book!
Extracts included are
'never change a winning formula'
on that one let's put ingredients into that formula that don't work like strawberries in a meat gravy or a top hat in a stew..
'experience is a vital part of a winning team'
lets build a team of unproven inexperienced players and anyone over 27 are just to old get rid off them as they are to old...
'Spend wisely and bring in the right man for the job'
let's hammer square pegs in round holes and pay over the odds for a player who hasn't done enough to warrant the price tag....
'Show guidance, leadership and confidence'
lets make bold and foolish remarks without the means to back it up, that back fire, call everyone amazing even when the team gets a bloomin good hiding and the player clearly isn't amazing...
Rodgers and FSG are still intent on writing things the book their way............
He must've been smoking the same shit as the rest of the defence. I was still impressed by him though, in patches. I think he'll turn out to be one of BR's best acquisitions in the long run.
ReplyDeleteJust been reading that we'd like a deal that would include players being swapped with Sterling, Dzeko and Jovetic were mentioned. This would reduce the amount we'd have to give QPR. Makes sense to me, I personally would prefer Dzeko.
ReplyDeletehahahahahah
ReplyDeleteFernandinho may be surplus to requirements i would try for him.
ReplyDeleteMilner is a big step up on most of the midfielders we have..
ReplyDeleteNever really been a massive fan of his myself. I think our main priority has to be sorting out our striker problems, hopefully sell Lambert, Borini and Balotelli, we've already brought in Origi and Ings. If we could add another experienced striker such as Dzeko I'd be optimistic. Probably dreaming though, BR would probably ask if Shaun Goater is available.
ReplyDeleteI said `most of` and at the moment he is better than emre can.he's a huge step up on allen and Lucas and I personally would have him before henderson
ReplyDeleteNever said dominate...
ReplyDeletea two year old in trainers is better than joe allen i agree with that... but better than Lucas Leiva and Emre Can...... your having a laugh... if he is so good then why does he not start for City or Engalnd on a regular basis... actions speak louder than words and James Milner (29 years old) will not improve this LFC team one iotta... but hey guess we need a new RB right BR
ReplyDeleteNeither of them would be my first choice, I'd of probably picked Martinez from Porto but it looks like that ship has sailed. If we ended up with Jovetic I wouldn't be upset, the only thing that's put me off is like you said the injury record, we already have one sick note striker so don't need another. If city are desperate for Sterling and I really don't understand why, fleece them for everything we can.
ReplyDeleteEDIT: now saw the jordan henderson comment.... how is he better than hendo when he has had less assists than hendo for the last two seasons??
ReplyDeleteSo that is what Rodgers has been doing this entire time - editing Wikipedia pages
ReplyDeleteI like emre can.think he has bags of potential but he still has a lot to do.I know he was played out of position.I like Lucas as well but milner has more to offer.and most of the Liverpool team wouldn't start for city..
ReplyDeleteShould have bought Ricardo Rodrigeuz before he really took off. Oh Well!.... LFC won't be paying the £30m it would cost to buy him now.
ReplyDeletewhat does most of the LFC team not starting for city have to do with the argument? are u implying that because milner is not good enough for city that he is good enough for LFC? that is accepting mediocrity and imo is a big reason to date why BR is still at our club this tendency to accept sup-bar standards at the club... again i disagree a 29 year old Milner is not better than Can or Lucas and u are yet to tell me how a lower goal/assist milner for 2 seasons is better than hendo.... where are the facts to show me that milner is as good as some fans are making him out to be... i had this same argument with another fan about joe allen and how they proclaimed he was better than leiva.... well we all see what happened there... but i guess u will use the same arguement as those joe allen fans... a lack of understanding of what milner's footballing 'talent' can provide
ReplyDelete:-) That sort of praise is reserved only for the finest players, so Kovacic should be well pleased to be joining an exclusive club that includes Iago Aspas, the lady that makes the tea in the Shankly Suite, and my nan.
ReplyDeleteHad more games for City with their squad than Can, Lucas and Allen did with our squad.... What was that about actions? Not to mention Cities absolute desperation to keep him, and don't even bother trying to claim Home Grown quota's... The wages they offered him, they could fill that quota no problem.
ReplyDeleteI said he (IMO)was better than most of the midfielders we have. Everything isn't about stats.I think he's a better all-round player than Henderson and more consistent. Henderson had a good season but has a lot of improving to do.milner has different attributes to his game.and by the way (IMO) means in my opinion.so if you don't agree that's fine.
ReplyDeleteI hope so, wouldn't want him getting on the wrong side of some here... He'll probably chuck himself infront of a train just to get away from the abuse.
ReplyDeleteWont happen either, we have all been crying out for a DM ever since Brendan rocked up, but he just doesn't think defensively... Attacking players are the only players he ever wants, and normally only attacking midfielders....To think the bloke was a defender.
ReplyDeletewhy mention the home grown quota's then? it is obvious they we're trying to keep him if u recall under the FFP in 2014 i believe city was already warned about there low quota of engish players then this season they lost micah richards and milner... they we're desperate to keep him and its not a far stretch of the imagination to believe that to do so they tried to show him he mattered by playing him more they tried to do the same with adam johnson i think.... but hey sorry i forget james milner is obviously the english xavi LFC need.... ridiculous... start more games than allen, lucas and Can.... question how much lay off time did milner get for injuries compared to these three players for 2014/2015? how much times despite being fit has BR started these players despite Can and Leiva having better games at times than Gerrard (the Chelsea game comes to mind when Can was surprisingly dropped for the next match).... despite my name i am not a troll and i follow LFC vigorously
ReplyDeleteupvoting your own comments i see
ReplyDeleteReplacing Enrique.
ReplyDeletemy comment got moderated i think.. sigh... in a nut shell i was stating.... of course the home grown players is not why MCFC wanted to keep him when they were already warned in 2013 i think that they had a low quota of english players.... also how much times has milner been injured over the season compared to allen'levia and Can, and 14 of his appearances in the EPL we're substitutions btw (i could be wrong to tired to double check).... but hey praise Milner the English Xavi
ReplyDeleteDon't know why my last comment wasn't allowed to be posted and I didn't even call you an opinionated w@nker!!!
ReplyDeleteSo its a bad thing that he doesn't get injured?????
ReplyDeleteThis gets me how did AC Milan sign Martinez with no European football what so ever and are in a bigger mess than us.
ReplyDeleteSurely we can get some one with decent credentials to play up front surely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think with the right coaching Moreno could be a great left back.. shame we don't have any great coaches...
ReplyDeleteMilan's shares were bought by a billionaire that works with a company that owns rights for both Martinez and Kondogbia. And many others....
ReplyDeleteReminds us of Gunner's 40M+1 offer for Suarez 2 seasons ago!! ;)
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love Italian football.
ReplyDeleteAnd Juve paid pennies for most players in their team, or on a free transfer.. Yeah, love them!
ReplyDeleteAnd Juve paid cents for most players in their team, or on a free transfer.. Yeah, love them!
ReplyDeleteYes champions of low cost transfers.
ReplyDeleteI think our handling of young player's leaves a lot to be desired, no real structure,no real plans for integration and the icing on thee cake is obligatory play them out of position in a system no one understands
ReplyDeleteIf dinge was 29 he would have been suitable with Enrique being the player he is. But at that age it makes no sense with Moreno already showing a lot of potential
ReplyDeleteIf it was up to me we'd get Garbutt in to compete with Moreno. I think between the two of them, they'd get the job done and let us focus on more pressing areas.
ReplyDeleteOnly prob is convincing Everton.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the long unbeaten run second half of the season. Sterling was striker, Can at cb, and Marko and Ibe at rwb. That wasn't positive results? In the last two games we got drilled with everybody playing their normal positions except Can. Johnson has been garbage all season and it seems likely that that manquillo has a 20 game clause in his loan deal. I don't see how this argument about square pegs round holes is valid. Just seems like an excuse to slate the manager.
ReplyDeleteGerrard: “I can picture him now with Lucas [Leiva], Joe Allen and [Jordan] Henderson and I can see them doing a good job.”
ReplyDeleteAmmunition for JK...
kanwar the man that wanted suarez out at any cost ope your happy now you clown
ReplyDeletegilstrap get your self on the echo or Tia miles better sites and no adverts for the s"n
ReplyDeletealso your posts are not deleted or censored by a power crazy coward like jamie
and a half, hahaha..
ReplyDeleteback for one day only by popular demand
ReplyDeletebut my second post got moderated see nothings change
some people still power crazy
minus 20% to QPR .
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that is one of the biggest problems at Liverpool at the moment , NO leadership .
ReplyDeleteWhat happens on the field reflects the change room .
You are calling him a clown, what did you expect..
ReplyDeletesay what you see thats my motto
ReplyDeletehow this site now everyone still think rodgers is a god
kanwar still blaming suarez for everything
i have seen a few of the posters on other sites and they are deluded still want to give rodgers more time
and i doubt it was because of calling him that
To be honest I don't think BR got the praise when he was worth it, now everybody want his head. Except a few, unless we find a better which is umlikely..
ReplyDeleteyour kidding right he did not get the praise
ReplyDeletehalf of the liverpool sites were claiming he used to have a morning walk across the mersey
his ego went into overdrive infact his ego was nearly as big as jamies and that some ego
*gets popcorn*
ReplyDeletehaha...relax brother!!
ReplyDeleteTevez for 10million I'm hearing, not a bad solution - still think he has a season or two and hatful of goals left in him, can't knock his all round work rate either, which would really help out team overall.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...i don't think moreno is not good player.1 season he get a lot of game to involve.
ReplyDeleteMight be right but I remember people talking we're sh!te till 6 games before the end not believing in top4 let alone the title...
ReplyDeleteName one club with a specialized Def coach...
ReplyDeleteWe need a capable coaching STAFF... one guy won't change anything. Sure we might get someone who is better at working with the defense, but rarely do teams get someone specifically for that job only...
Anyone has the balls to upvote him?
ReplyDeletei would not get to excited jamies probaly hiding as soon as he sees it i will be gone then he will come out fighting when i cannot defend myself
ReplyDeletehe cannot handle the truth
He'll just delete you..
ReplyDeleteTrippier perhaps, yes I know I've said it before but if we don't grab him someone else will and I think it's a sound investment. Add Montoya maybe and that's the right side depth sorted and perhaps Digne and Moreno on the left.
ReplyDeleteAlso, agree with what you say, how Moreno was meant to know what he was doing from one minute to the next last season is anyone's guess - several changes of position, tactics, role, formation and the same for the players around him can't have helped, think he'll improve this season.
Tevez for £10million, I'd buy that for a dollar.
ReplyDeletebothered
ReplyDeleteyou cannot say what you think anyway its a dictatorship this site only came back to wind him up i would have been banned no matter what i said
To be fair Logan's the only one left still showing staunch support for Brendan.
ReplyDeleteIf a compelling argument for why Brendan should definitely stay, is put forward then yes, clickety-click on the upper from me :)
ReplyDeleteThe Authors on LK are quick to write players off and don't give a lot of credit.. To suggest Manquillo had problems holding down a place is ridiculous, he was purely just fighting to get in the team, his first year in the premier league, at his age and with the language.. Give him a chance.. And Moreno -he had a good season when you consider Brendan used him as left back and left wing back, its a new league to him, he often had to worry about Sakho and Lovern, not saying he never done wrong but he is another youngster who learnt loads last year.. The guys need support from their own fans..
ReplyDeleteAuthor..
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good read, think I saw it on the shelves the other day, was it called "I did it my way" by Mr B.R Rodgers (his middle name is resplendent)
ReplyDelete...Read how up and coming, forward thinking, super Manager Brendan, 'Brod' Rodgers stuck two fingers up at the establishment, shunned the way of old purple nose and went on to blow every stinking, miserable utd achievement out of the water...
was that the one, I bet it was ;-)
I'm not commenting on either way on the Author bit but agree wholeheartedly with the rest of what you say.
ReplyDeleteany young player would be mad to want to come and play under rodgers ......for me the wheels have well and truly come off
ReplyDeleteWell you deserve to go.
ReplyDeleteI rarely agree with Jamie's views however I respect the man as he sticks to his principles regardless how unpopular they maybe.
Unlike many other Liverpool Fan sites who shameless suck up and go with what ever is popular with the fans, Jamie has always stuck to his guns to his credit.
Jason... is that you?
ReplyDeleteWe can't but a whole team of ready-mades though, too expensive, too often would need replacing and too boring.
ReplyDeleteYou changed your name to, introduce yourself.. Wonder what was your relationship...
ReplyDeleteMontoya's representatives said Inter a big club, is a good destination for him if he is a starter. That means that a real big club like us in a better position in a better league with better salary just have to match Inter's valuation.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like Trippier or Clyne, oddly enough. There are some specific things a modern right back has to do well, some particular passes inside they have to be able to make reliably, and neither of them are outstanding at them from what I've seen.
ReplyDeleteOur right back has to be able to recycle the ball into midfield securely as a priority -- it's as important as tackling and covering in that position -- and I wouldn't trust those lads, quite. That's why BR was putting technical players out there this season I guess. Has an obvious downside though doesn't it.
I haven't seen a new right back that really caught my eye for ages. Wonder if it might be worth seeing how Spurs would feel about a £15m bid for Walker, or how hard Everton would fight to keep Coleman since they have Tyias Browning coming through...?
It's not valid, it's nonsense. But you can't win, these are the same people that have been calling for BR to leave from day one, for whatever reason. They got a taste for blood with Hodgson I reckon and now they wander the night, compelled to consume the vital essences of innocent football managers, without which they simply can't survive.
ReplyDeleteGarbutt is fantastic, but maybe too similar to Moreno -- same for Cresswell. But Tyrone Mings would offer variation. Quite a few very interesting English prospects at left-back. But where are the right-backs?!
ReplyDeleteI see Jamaica vs. Uruguay but extremely disappointed, now they let teams from Africa play in Copa America? Whats next England to win the Gold cup? Urghhh
ReplyDeleteI agree you are delusional about Liverpool. Fans need to be clear headed at times. Historically speaking both Inter and Liverpool are there or there abouts. Liverpool couple more European cups, Inter never been relegated so a lot of it comes down to a player's preference.
ReplyDeleteIt went to pot when they put NGCTC in charge of the tournament
ReplyDeleteJamaica... From Africa. erm I suggest you look at a map
ReplyDeleteWe shared many moments... mostly with him calling me derogatory names and going off on tangents that lacked logic as well as proper grammar. Oh how I miss those days... :)
ReplyDeleteGhost, you're not new here, still you don't get it?;-)
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteWhere's he though, seems like this tragedy has taken its toll on the poor kid.
ReplyDeleteHe'll be back soon.. I have no doubt about it..
ReplyDeletewell he did it once, no reasons why he can't do it twice!
ReplyDeleteHe's got more lives than BR
ReplyDeleteguy has a very thick skin(shameless)
ReplyDeleteOutstanding
ReplyDeletewe need a new manager more than anything.
ReplyDeleteBring Klopp or any other manager of his stature.
- Markovic will tear the defenses
- Lovren will prove that he is an animal
- Lallana will prove his creative flair
- CAN will show the glimpses of Ballack
- Balo will be a super sub
We need to get rid of this amateur manager and players will regain their forms.Period.
best post so far. agree 100%
ReplyDeleteHe is a career annihilator.
ReplyDeleteLast season:
- Lovren was beast.
- Lallana was classy
- Markovic was talented
- Lambert was a utility striker
- Sterling was the best young player in Europe
This season:
- Suddenly, all of them seemed to have forgotten their craft miraculously and turned to shit !
It's all down to BR's poor man management and bizarre tactics.
do you live in a parallel universe???
ReplyDeletedeluded springs to mind
ReplyDeleteamen to that
ReplyDeletecome on orme please do not do that i would not wish anyone barred
ReplyDeletewell my compelling points are always not show maybe you should type kanwar into the internet now there is an eye opener
ReplyDeletehaha really now how many accounts did he get banned from on twitter
ReplyDeletehe abused people left right and center
it is and you are
ReplyDeletewhat was is name
ReplyDeletehappy days when the truth was told
ReplyDeletegilstrap long time no see:)
ReplyDeleteI did not agree with most of what Jason had to say but one thing he was right about was Rodgers.
ReplyDeleteSame here m8 are you still living the dream
ReplyDeleteand there lays the main point
ReplyDeletewe are a super team that any league would want in
but the longer we go on with a very poor manager and money grabbing owners the more the rest of europe will forget our great history we will end up like newcastle massive in support only
drinking it mate
ReplyDeleteKovacic to LFC done deal. £16.36m and £1.44m in add-ons. Any thoughts, I haven't seen him play?
ReplyDeleteYou'll need a double if Rodgers still at the helm start of season, its getting beyond a joke now he needs putting out of his misery ......funny thing last time we spoke I'd say history would look back on Kenny's tenure a success and Rodgers a failure ......guess what ...I wasright again
ReplyDeleteAnother midfielder ...…just what we need ....where is he gonna play in goal
ReplyDeletei think you will find i was right about a lot of things i predicted 6th this season i also said we would struggle to score half the goal but could see us conceding as many
ReplyDeletethat was the suarez effect the player the british media forced out jamie being the worse
Your posts arnt good enough to upvote
ReplyDeleteIts not a séance
ReplyDeletewhat do me and you know best of leaving it to the experts like jamie
ReplyDeletei will not be back long so i will tell you what happened
jamie sent me an abusive email threatening me so i gave him my address and phone number to make sure i was in when he came round he then sent me another accusing me of being a secret stalker and threatening police action again i gave him my personal details
each time he ignored them yet he put me up as a stalker on his truth site he had my details so that was rubbish
he also banned zantos and anteater for agreeing with me and sent zantos emails yet on this site he as stated they are not barred
Agree with you! I actually had a B Rod. Fan at my house today who insisted all the LFC transfers were not B Rod's! We had a long debate and he refused to accept B Rod was an inferior option!
ReplyDeleteis there any one there obviously jamies not or i would not still be here
ReplyDeletekanwar if your here knock 3 times
never have been always the suarez never the bride
ReplyDeleterodgers wants a box to box keeper
ReplyDeleteblind optimism imo idk why they dont face the facts BR has a hand in most things at LFC... shambloic transfers which in 2014 he said are final on his word.... shambolic season... and now pacoe and marsh sackings
ReplyDeletewheres the s"n adverts and the gory glory man urenited music playing in the back ground not the site i remember
ReplyDeletepoint is we still need that individual at this point in time is there anyone at time that does this service at LFC... No.... thus i dont understand your point as u first agrue name a club with a DEF, but at the same time u say we need someone who can do it????
ReplyDeletei am stating he must have more appearances as he has not been sidelined by injury... comparing milner to Can/Leiva is like comparing Ings to Sturridge... makes no sense an obviously inferior substitue
ReplyDeleteYou just make yourself look like an idiot with this sort of unbalanced crap. I'd make a list of the players who have been improved, have developed, or had their careers turned round over the last three years under Rodgers but I shouldn't have to, should I? Surely you can do it yourself. And then stop posting this hysterical nonsense.
ReplyDeletewheres the advert for the paper that shall not be mentioned and the gory gory manure united music playing in the background not the site i remember
ReplyDeleteall you jest i bet he said he signed sturridge and coutinho
ReplyDeletematt you know the truth you got banned and i stuck my neck out for you
ReplyDeleteis jamie a power mad dictator that followers his posters round what ever site they go on
of course i will understand if you do not reply as you know the consequences
but the truth will come out one day
He was part of this crazy island of misfit toys
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately there were several posters here who have left over the course of time... zelphius, anteater, etc. The list goes on.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree with less..
ReplyDeleteTell me about it. Over stocked in mid... Maybe taking sterlings place
ReplyDeleteBalo has scored the least goals? and that's really a good stick to beat BR with? He didn't even want Mario in the first place.
ReplyDeleteSorry mate, didn't mean to outstay my welcome, you were a bit slow with the old kettle though ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe did finish 2nd though, which was nice.
ReplyDeleteAnd managed.
ReplyDeleteIt's just a pet peeve of mine...
ReplyDeletePeople keep calling specifically for a "defensive coach", but in reality this position rarely exists. Steve Clarke was just a coach. Hyypia would be an assistant. Carra would just be a coach. There's rarely a distinction between purely and offensive or defensive coach. Last season, Villa was the only team to have a designated defensive coach. GK is really the only position that regularly has a specialty.
I reckon Allen is getting the boot now.
ReplyDeletei get u but i do like to keep myself informed soooooo http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2810767/Club-club-guide-defensive-coaches-Premier-League.html
ReplyDeleteColeman is mustard, got to be honest and I hate to admit it but he is bloody good. That is worrying me slightly what you say re Trippier and Clyne.
ReplyDeleteLess interested in Clyne myself, as feel we've missed the bargain boat with him but I do rate Trippier - now you make me gauge my recollections though, they are mainly from the halfway line onwards and I think he's very good.
I watched a lot of Premiership and don't recall many others reliably crossing the ball as well as him which I think is a basic we're lacking in. Set pieces, he's similarly good and tracking back and actually defending, again, very good.
Walker doesn't light my tinder to be honest, too keen to get forward and go for glory, don't remember him being a great crosser (I know that's not how we play but would be a nice thing for a RB/LB to have in their armoury instead of always trying to cut inside - Flanno can actually put a decent cross in I seem to remember, man I hope he gets back into the team), maybe a little too like Glen, although as with many others he's been hampered by injury.
Montoya maybe?
last season... and while it was good... its like the chairman for a company stating that profit grew by 5 per cent... this year we madea loss of 8 per cent and will not be able to pay out dividends (champions league in my example haha stay with me) as a result... i know that chairman was going to get the boot
ReplyDeleteSakho stormed out after not getting picked out for the Everton match... the captain of Danish team barely got a start by BR (in a latter interiew basically calling him two faced), Manquillo the most solid RB we have (according to any stat site) can not get a start for us, players are getting injured way to consecutively implying harsh training schedules (2013/2014 there were claims in the media that Moyes training routines were the cause of many injuries).. there is a long long long list that i can use to describe why i think BR is a horrible manager also he didnt want Balotelli in 2014 and 2013 respectively BR stated he has final say on all transfers... i'll leave it at that

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-manager-brendan-rodgers-3572303
its basic common sense in the EPL there are 38 games per season if i am injured does that not reduce the number of games i can play???
ReplyDelete-Lovren was a beast last season, but I think that's more a testament to Soton's staff than anything. Everywhere else in his career he's largely been the same as he is now.
ReplyDelete-Lallana has been pretty classy, albeit not to last season's standards. The problem is he's lacking an end product and becoming too isolated, partially because of our formation change mid season.
-Markovic was undergoing a major stylistic change. Not everyone is going to hit the ground running like Cou. Now, his loss of confidence and timid nature can probably be accredited to BR, but to say Marko no longer has talent is a bit unfair.
-Sterling was the best young player in Europe under BR for 2 seasons. Last season nothing changed except expectation.
I do agree however that everything that DID go wrong is because of BR's naivety in tactics and management. I just don't think everything is so terrible regarding the players you mentioned.
to some individuals who repliied to me i did respond to your comments with links and some witty retorts but it seems they got moderated so sadly my responses have gone up the river as they say
ReplyDeleteLast time someone mentioned an eye opener for me to check out on the interweb, it was all about a Cup and had nothing to do with Istanbul.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll check it out ;-)
Bowlocks this is about the ninth time I've tried writing this post, I'm going to reduce it to this -
ReplyDeleteI have no knowledge of your time on here and the resulting quarrel but the fact you've yet to be silenced suggests it may have been put in the past.
I'm sure there are many new posters on here including myself who will read your views impartially, but obviously we will do the same with Jamie's, seems fair to me.
How do we know that NGCTC is not actually the only poster on this whole site and the other 16million odd are all his pseudonyms, and don't bring geography into this again - you'll only confuse me :)
ReplyDeleteHope so.
ReplyDeleteBe very happy if that's the case, can only find news of a revised offer though. He looks a great player, maybe like Ronaldo and Bale combined but better than both.
ReplyDeleteLot of mine tend to do that and call me cynical but I've got a theory on what's happening to them: I think they're all being harvested for an upcoming Stephen King novel on the history of English Football, it's going to be a horror.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you, we're all in it together! That would be one hell of a ruthless company though and maybe a touch short-sighted too, if it was a bank they'd just give him a huge bonus :)*
ReplyDelete*Sincerely no offence to any bankers, I've known one or two and they work bloomin hard.
Yeah it seems like a lot of people who post on this sight are completely blind and have no ability to rationalize. The handicaps that he is working with are plain to see, but those same handicaps are great for the long term stability and success of the club. The owners have a long term plan for the club but the fans are insatiable. The fans were let down by the players this season not Rodgers. Most of his decisions actually had a positive impact.
ReplyDeletehahaha i get u... some times i draw strange real life situations but imo we can't continue like this and it upsets me when people make excuses to condone this mediocrity... sometimes there apologist comments are as intelligent as the cast on geordie shore
ReplyDeletestarring the fall from grace that is LFC... made to question all u knew dear about footballing culture
ReplyDelete
