Brendan Rodgers calls it 'bitterly disappointing', but Liverpool's 6-1 annihilation at the hands of footballing superpower Stoke City is infinitely worse than that - it's absolutely catastrophic; a total humiliation, and is, by far, the most inexcusable LFC result in my lifetime.
The only thing worse than losing 6-1 would've been seeing Raheem Sterling come on as a substitute and soil the occasion even more.
Kudos to Rodgers for sticking to his guns on that point. The Mercenary should never play for Liverpool again, and the sooner he leaves, the better.
I could easily tear the team and the result to shreds, but to be honest, there's no point.
Liverpool's problems are blatantly obvious, and fans - myself included - have been highlighting the issues all season.
There's plenty of time for the inevitable inquest, and I personally prefer to let a day or two pass before sifting through the wreckage.
I also prefer to concentrate on the sole bright spot in the game: Steven Gerrard's final goal for Liverpool.
6-1 is a horrible way for one of Liverpool's greatest every players to go out, but it's pleasing to see the captain go out with a goal.
Gerrard may not be the genius player of old, but Gerrard is still (IMO) head and shoulders above every other player in the squad, and even at 5-0 down, he was still leading by example.
This team is totally beneath Gerrard, and the most damning indictment of the current squad is that Gerrard - despite being on his last legs (in football terms) - is Liverpool's top goalscorer this season.
With Gerrard leaving, Liverpool as many of us know it, is finished. It's not the end, though, irrespective of today's disgraceful result. The club will rise from the ashes once again, and a new hero will inevitably emerge at some point.
That said, Gerrard deserved better than this.
Hendo, Lallana et al inexcusably let him down against both Crystal Palace and Stoke, and underlined once again why they will never come close to matching Gerrard's impact and success at Liverpool.
Despite the last two disastrous games, though, the Gerrard can leave with his head held high, and he can expect a hero's welcome when he inevitably returns to manager the club at some point in the future.

says it all really, that our oldest player is still the best. every other player sharing that coach with him today should be ashamed of themselves. ok, brendan has contributed massively by not knowing what he is doing. as much as stevie must be upset at leaving, i bet there is a part of him that is also thankful that he is going. an era of relying on our superstars has ended today. now the players have to rely on themselves collectively...without stevie and unfortunately without brendan. he has reached his glass ceiling and that's as far as he is capable of going.
ReplyDeleteSteven Gerrard was so slow today that it was painful to watch.
ReplyDeleteyes and still our best player. thats how bad we are.
ReplyDeleteNo. He was part of the problem.
ReplyDeleteof course he was! he has carried us for years, he can't do no more. name abetter player today from that shambles?
ReplyDeleteIf that is your positive then you are totally missing the point. This result shows why Sterling wants to leave the club if Rodgers is still in charge ( a point which wasn't highlighted by the mainstream rags when the story broke out about him wanting to leave the club)
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes down to it all the sterling stuff along with Mario bashing has been a nice smokescreen for Rodgers to hide behind this fog of settling for mediocrity.
The big positive in my opinion was that both players played not part in this shambolic performance which has exposed Rodgers for being out of his depth at Liverpool and has made his position at the club untenable.
Seriously?
ReplyDeleteYou're calling out Stevie?
Seriously?
You can't admit that BR is the problem?
Seriously?
Lallana. Our pressing was non existent because Stevie played. I was all for him staying another year but he needed to be a power sub which he didn;t want to become and to be a starter he needs more than he can give. he had 6 minutes of good running all together pulling the team twice during the game- that ain't enough...
ReplyDeleteThe only positive to come from todays debacle would be the obvious sacking of the imposter masqyerading as the manager of LFC,
ReplyDeletelallana was too easily bullied today. i like him but he wasn't at the races today (just one of eleven).
ReplyDeletei fully expect that to happen asap. nice fella, just not a top level manager.
ReplyDeleteNo I am not calling out Steven. Just stating the plain truth- there was no way he could've carried the team at this low point. He could've if we were as good as Juve- that is why Pirlo is doing that for them- he's been invisible and slow all season but with others being so good he was able to chip in with some Hollywood passes/goals, and when it counted he was the best runner!(vs Real). Steven could've done the same- remeber Basel, but he needed his teammates and the manager on a higher level.
ReplyDeleteDon't know him personally, so can't say if he's nice or not.
ReplyDeleteNot good enough to manage our club, though. That's been proven quite conclusively now.
Continues to break records at LFC our Brendan, worst defeat in 52 years, goes with worst start to a season aswell.... And we all cringed at Roy Hodgson.... We didn't realise just how good we had it.....
ReplyDeleteyou have to ask, why should he carry the side??? that's why we have under acheived for so long, relying on individuals.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually our worst defeat in 62 years,,,
ReplyDelete...but i get your point and feel your pain.
Can we have a proper manager now please FSG??
He was easily bullied after being foulled on three separate occasions(including a pen, by some very brute players and not given any of three), and after playing as centre forward for 45 minutes, and after 5-0 halftime. You do see why that can happen?
ReplyDeleteLast game at Anfield, humiliated...
ReplyDeleteLast game, humiliated...
Job done.
.He could've.. If others were good enough.
ReplyDeletecomes across as a decent guy. i don't like slating any of our managers. sometimes you have to be realistic, he doesn't want failure for us, he wants to win..he just can't do it.
ReplyDeleteOuch!, well there you go. He still manages to suprise...
ReplyDeleteReally? To me he comes across as a little boy who thinks he's all that and a bag of chips.
ReplyDeleteI'd say he was more a headless chicken with his relentless running...
ReplyDeletewho? klopp? great record this season. rafa? awful at the end last time.....next?
ReplyDeleteAnd last CL game, and last FA cup game, last Mercyside derby, manu derby, chelsea, arsenal...
ReplyDeleteSo Klopp is not good based on this season?
ReplyDeletehow do you reach that conclusion?
ReplyDeleteRafa,
ReplyDeleteHarry.
Klopp.
Give me a day and I'll come up with another 2 dozen names.
Give me a week and that list will grow to 50.
To be fair, thats what we're saying about Brendan.
ReplyDeleteAgain, too much sentimentality about SG. Orme, I agree. This has been going on for 2 years. Yes he has been exceptional for us at times but never consistent. Football moved on years ago. The sad fact is that we have been a better team without him. CL and FA cup were years ago - yes he was the match winner in those games, but there have been hundreds of games since then.
ReplyDeleteshouldn't need to rely on that, it's a team game.
ReplyDeleteWe? And doesn't mean 'we' are right..
ReplyDeleteI said the other day we may as well bring old Hodgy Podgy back if we are going to stick with Brendan.
ReplyDeleteOh, just everything he's said and done since he's been here.
ReplyDeleteThe positive point for me is that there is no ambiguity in what needs to be done. No claims of being unlucky or not given enough time. No talk about a need for marquee strikers or being unlucky. This is relegation football from a team who spent close to £120M in summer. Season ended below par from even a position he stated was par a couple of weeks ago. There's no more excuses. No more questions. Just a stark reality. He has to go.
ReplyDeleteOh my.. Not relying on that, quite the opposite. But one is always the leader, I am not saying Pirlo is who Juve is relying, the teamwork is why they are good, that is what I'm saying..
ReplyDeleteYou totally nailed it, my friend.
ReplyDeleteEnd of, nothing else needs be said.
And on that bombshell...
only as good as your last.
ReplyDeleteSo not true...
ReplyDeleteModern day football my friend...
ReplyDeleteSome bad records, some good. One thing we can be sure of is that there's never been a dull moment with BR in charge.
ReplyDeleteStrikes and gutters, ups and downs; that's more than we ever got with Hodgson.
'so' is. with your argument, that means that brendan is having a blip ad all will be fine with him next season?
ReplyDeleteRodgers has had time.
ReplyDeleteRodgers has had money.
We've been anihilated by Palace and Stoke back to back.
If you find this good enough for our once proud club, well, I just don't know what to say.
We deserve better than this,
He has not been the best for a number of years now. Stop buying into this - where is the evidence? He should have been an impact sub over the last two years. The other players know this. BR has continued to play him (a couple of months ago 3 games in five days!) - why?
ReplyDeleteYou have to be seriously worried for this transfer window after that performance.... You'd have to be mental to want to play in this team, especially if Brendan is still boss.
ReplyDeleteSo essentially it's mainly Rodgers' fault right? Not a 35 year old hero fighting vainly to keep it all together.
ReplyDeleteIt took Rodgers this long to drop Sterling after being the 'bad egg' of late.
ReplyDeleteBeen relying on Sterling to get the goals all season. Then again does not start with a dedicated striker and it is foot in mouth.
Rodgers going going gone and Sterling stays. Watch this space...
namely?
ReplyDeleteIf the defence had done its job he would have been the match winner today '-)
ReplyDeleteI did start thinking the same...
ReplyDeleteI am not saying nothing remotely similar. Though I might think that, but is not the part of the my logic- you've just made that up.
ReplyDeleteAnd according to you, here are some bad managers- now- Ancelotti, A year before he came back to chelski Moaninho?
Hahaha, honestly?
ReplyDeleteYou had your head in the sand for the last 3 years?
Buddy, can't tell you anything : )
Shoot yourself quick
ReplyDeleteOf course.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah. and I've got Charlize Theron coming round to wash my hair tonight....
ReplyDeleteStill managed to reach the German Supercup final beating the Bundesliga champions on the way. Even in a shit season where he's been depleted of his best players he still manages to produce a team that can compete.
ReplyDeletekeep brendan then, simple really
ReplyDeleteYour hair will have to wait. I've not 'finished' with her yet.
ReplyDeleteSor..............beeeeeeeeeeeep!
ReplyDeleteGod i loved her in Aeon Flux.
ReplyDeleteHey, what am i doing on here when i could be watching Aeon Flux...
Don't let her she did mine and now I look like Fellaini
ReplyDeletehahaha.. A really awesome answer..
ReplyDeletenot your 'buddy'. if you are going to argue a point back it up.
ReplyDeleteI know. I was going there- solely on this season merits he is a lot better than average..
ReplyDeleteJaimie you are right about Steven Gerrard. He is by far the best player in our squad. Both Lampard and Gerrard scored today and I think it did tell a story. Lampard scoring a goal in a typical Lampard style with his off the ball run in the box. Lampard and his team won comfortably against a tidy Sunderland. I think that was a story of Lampard's career. Scoring hundreds of goals in a winning team with quality all around him.
ReplyDeleteSimilarly even Gerrard's goal summed up his Liverpool career. He wasn't always surrounded by winners. He was playing against a midtable team but Liverpool were still struggling. He was the only shining light for Liverpool and capping his performance with a clinical finish. He is a beast. He has always been a player who carried the club on his shoulder. He has won us many games..he has lost with us but he stayed with us. I think Gerrard deserved better but he remains in my eyes...the greatest ever EPL player. I wouldn't swap him with anyone in the world. It was good while it lasted. Thank you Stevie G...for the final time. It was a pleasure.
Like you up there with -keep your Rodgers na na na-?
ReplyDeleteSorry, don't argue with...er...with people like you : )
ReplyDeleteRodgers reason for not starting with Sterling
ReplyDelete"It's been a difficult few months for him and we felt other players might be able to contribute that bit more," Rodgers said.
In the last match of the season after losing 6-1? And he says that? The man should quit football management and study for stand up comedy.
Thats cool, I have the Ross Kemp....
ReplyDeleteHe'd sell out Wembley with that sort of material
ReplyDeleteLook. the Ross Kemp look..... phew, that was close.
ReplyDeleteI'd gladly look like that dork if it meant getting Charlize to "run her fingers through my hair"
ReplyDeleteGold, pure gold.....
ReplyDeleteHahaha..........................................
ReplyDeletestrange boy!?
ReplyDeleteIndeed, thank you Stevie lad...thanks for the memories : )
ReplyDeleteSeriously, what an awesome post, thanks man, that was beautiful : )
ReplyDeleteHe is not the best player in the squad. Yes, he has more determination than the others. But so would all of us if we played. He has been over-hyped for years now.
ReplyDeleteOpinions. .I guess.
ReplyDelete:-)
ReplyDeleteI think I've seen that. Isn't that about a group of sexy assassins trying attempting to overthrow the government by sh@gging them to death? Oh no, wait..........that was Aeon Fux.
ReplyDeleteThe plot sounds good ; )
ReplyDeleteSince when did Hodgson become a benchmark for comparison?
ReplyDeleteTactical "unaware"
ReplyDelete'This team is totally beneath Gerrard'
ReplyDeleteJK, you have by far the best site. Even though I and others disagree with you, all opinions are valued by you. Remember the run we had before the ManU home game? most punters/journalists were saying that we were playing the most attractive football and very few analysts were giving ManU a chance. We lost and capitulated from then on. The good run was mainly without SG. We've done this year in year out. We believe the hype then collapse after losing to the bigger teams. SG comes back for the last 8 or so games, believing that he is the saviour - what happens?
...oh god 'thrashing BR'....that brings up so many dodgy images...
ReplyDelete....I'm a bloke...what do you expect...its always going to boil down to s3x.....can't you remember your teens or something....
....Sunday, randy, Sunday.........
Is this what it feels like when you get 'bummed'...because this hurt so bad
ReplyDeleteAfter Man Utd...we lost to Arsenal 4-1...Stevie G was out due to suspension. Last season we played amazing football with Stevie G playing a pivotal role. I mean who has 12+ assists playing so far behind?. ..its crazy. Stevie G is not the player he was few years back but I would take 10% Stevie G over 100% Allen any day of the week.
ReplyDeleteThe amazing part that everybody, including JK, were saying Gerrard has no place in the team. I was the one saying he has, though reduced, and now I am in position to have to highlight Gerrard's faults as somehow he became 24 again..
ReplyDelete...people tell me amitriptyline, alcohol and a good lube help....
ReplyDeleteVerbally thrashing BR...this should be fine I guess..;-)
ReplyDeleteHe didn't! Just responding to the comparison made above Chirag, which seems unduly harsh, even on BR :-)
ReplyDeletesorry chirag, I'm just trying to control my rampaging hormones......
ReplyDelete...humour and s3x seem to get me through most things relatively unscathed...
...what's happening with this meeting; any clue...?
...ps that post above about Stevie G was poetry bro....thanks.......
Good article and makes sense to focus on what a great player Gerrard has been for us, but "The club will rise from the ashes once again, and a new hero will inevitably emerge at some point." - I really hope FSG don't assume this stance is a given.
ReplyDeleteI'm pigheaded, not delusional.... I have tried to fight his corner, Villa was starting to turn me, but these last two games are the nail in his coffin.
ReplyDeleteI'm not at the experimenting stage of my life yet.... but good to know just incase (I think??)
ReplyDeleteChirag, so would I. We need a strong manager who is capable of ruling over sentiment and not over-hyping players in public.
ReplyDeleteStep forward Igor Biscan
ReplyDeleteThanks. This meeting is just normal business IMO. I think that tweet mentioned this meeting was scheduled before the match. I think it will be touch and go. It was clear that KD would be sacked at the end of the season and I don't see such clarity this time around which makes me think that BR might get time till November.
ReplyDelete......I'm afraid to say its not experience talking....
ReplyDelete...not that I have anything against whatever anyone wants to partake in try or do....its all good with me...
...but for me, I kind of wince when I see it as I'm trawling through the internet 'researching'.....
...it all looks very kinky...:-)
....oh I love kinky but the line kind of gets drawn around about there..... ;-)
Yes, Igor sounds good
ReplyDelete..cheers..
ReplyDeleteYes that's what I mentioned in my other post. Lets not target Gerrard today..he did the best he could in his last few games. Won us points against Chelsea..QPR..I think our overall form is down to the manager. He had enough time to fix it.
ReplyDeleteI cry when I take a big po.o... so I could amitriptyline for that.
ReplyDeleteWe're just jesting... if anyone is offended, sorry
I think we won't be spending much this window. I remember BR saying last summer that this was the biggest transfer window for some years.
ReplyDelete...I agree, please everyone don't take any offence if we out of line let us know so we can apologise.....
ReplyDelete..like chewy; sorry in advance.....
I agree. I'm not targeting SG - of course he would want to play in every game - who wouldn't. He's won us probably 20 games in the last 300 single- handedly.
ReplyDeleteRemember the same myself, I just hope like we all do, that there's enough in the kitty for a top class striker at least.
ReplyDeleteLets put it this way...we would be singing 4 times instead of 5 times. .without him :-)
ReplyDeleteI was hoping the one positive would be "and BR has turned in his resignation".
ReplyDelete...right now it feels all that's coming out of anfield is tumbleweed....
ReplyDelete..we need a yay or a nay.....so we can all get on and disagree as usual.......
Yes and I hope we spend it right this time.
ReplyDeleteSome people have even wished him to be injured during the last season or two, very naughty, trouble is sometimes you don't realise the value of something until it's gone.
ReplyDeleteNext season targets
ReplyDelete1) Top 4
2) Domestic trophy
3) Develop young players through Europa.
.
The reason am excluding winning Europa as a target is because it will impact our league performance. However, if we reach to quater finals then we should definitely target to win it as it will allow us to qualify for CL as well.
Alonso being a perfect example.
ReplyDeleteIf there wasn't a high calibre manage available, would people still want BR replaced? Because I can't go back to watching the SH!T like under the 'owl faced Hodge' again. If we had a striker capable of scoring atleast 15 goal, my mind says we would have got forth.
ReplyDeleteIf we aren't going to pay for a striker that can score a min of 15 goal...please get Luis Adriano. Sell Sterling and give that money penciled for to Adriano, his finishing warrant that kinda of money (not Sterlings wastefulness)
Definitly, although if we had signed super Gary Barry it might not have been so bad!
ReplyDeleteKlopp and Rodgers both finished sixth this season and Rafa's Napoli has more points than Liverpool. Still have a soft spot for Rodgers, though.
ReplyDeleteOh man, hang on let me rephrase that - wtf - this is all news to me. As someone whose taken Amytriptyline daily for over fifteen years this is a bit of a shock, they told me it was to help me sleep!
ReplyDeleteAs you say, each to their own but I've always chosen to pot the pink and am slightly perturbed by this new information, perhaps I need to see if other drugs are available then and by the sounds of it I could make a profit on any surplus Amy.
This is Mr 'I'll fight for my life' to stay LFC manager...who know this kick in the teeth, might be the making of BR.
ReplyDeleteIf their isn't a manager that plays with a similar mantra BR like Klopp, Pep Guardiola or Rudi Garcia. We'll have to reset the playing style, taking us back a min of 2 years.
Any news from the FSG meeting today?
ReplyDeleteWhy mentioned Sterling? As if he has anything to do with today's result. Glad he didn't play as he avoided the scapegoat tag. Anyway BR out with the duds too.
ReplyDeleteJamie, Jamie, Jamie... All of what you say about today's game may be true but try and convince me that Steven Gerrard is better than most of our squad and your on a serious loser... This season our individual goal scoring has been terrible so our penalty taker was bound to be top goalscorer...
ReplyDeleteHendo particularly does not deserve to be judged on his last games.
If you love your stats as your goals comment shows try looking into how many games we lose with and without Stevie.....
You live in sentimental land.... You would have let Suarez go for 40m and 1 to Arsenal because you didn't like him even though he was the best player in the league and now refuses to see the MASSIVE flaws in Gerrards game...
Time to say goodbye to a great player once upon a time....
BTW time to say adios to Rogers too
Lfc team going to Dubai tomorrow?!
ReplyDeleteNot convinced it was ever a real entity.
ReplyDeleteThere was no way Rodgers could manage at Stoke and then fly to Boston for a meeting in the same day...
ReplyDeleteHe could, just goes into a telephone box and changes into some spandex and earns himself some air miles, BR is the man that can.
ReplyDeleteNo apparently the meeting was at Anfield with an FSG rep..
ReplyDeletesuperman doesn't lose 6-1 unless he wants to!
ReplyDeleteDistracted by a floozy.
ReplyDeleteLuckily he knows better than to be seen in Spandex.
ReplyDeleteFar be it for me to go against the Logan but what should he of said, what would any manager of said in that position, don't get me wrong this is not a pro-BR argument in one post but I'm genuinely missing your point here.
ReplyDeleteAncellotti ? =No chance
ReplyDeleteKlopp=Very difficult
Rudi Garcia=Likely due to the FSG connection (cheap yes man)
Rafa=Not while Ian Ayre remains + Real Madrid lurking
Sam Allerdichi= God help us
Sometimes humour gets you through s3x, imo!
ReplyDeleteProbably still a 'thing'
ReplyDelete2014/15 season:
ReplyDeleteSo in summary then and I think I speak on behalf of all of us, we won that one and it would only be bragging to further discuss it.
I trust we will see no more mention of it on here and will look forward to discussing our continued reign of outstanding supremacy next season. YNWA
This is a great article which shows that Sterling has a every right to think about leaving the club and this how mercenary tag is a joke as the kid's record in the game so far shows that his is on course to become a world class player.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/may/24/how-does-raheem-sterling-score-against-ronaldo-messi-age-20
Come on now, surely she's all tied up with Emre's hair.
ReplyDeleteIf he does get the chop then that will always be my overriding memory of him, no offence to others who don't like the guy, but I don't think you can fault his effort or intent.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the writing is on the wall then, I'm not far off agreeing myself now and you and Orme are worrying me that change is now imminent and perhaps that's just the way it has to be:
ReplyDeleteBut, and not saying you aren't, but let's at least pay the guy more credit than Woy, I know the argument for the Suarez factor is sound but BR has presided over some pretty favourable records too.
Rafa and Klopp will fight it out for MAdrid, the loser will find a job with another big club in europe. We might be stuck with Allerdichi hehe.
ReplyDeleteHe's already said his policy is to mention Sterling in every thread, and to change his name to The Mercenary.
ReplyDeleteThink there are bigger fishes out there to fry myself...
forgive me man but too much whiskey got to me and I spelt the wrong drug........hehehe ...sorry....
ReplyDelete...amyl nitrite......'slinking away slowly so as not to disturb the natives'..............
sorry chewy and everyone concerned - wrong drug bro.......amyl nitrite......
ReplyDeleteWithout a CL place, I thought Rodgers would have to finish strongly to keep his job, but all he's done is leave a poor taste in a lot of mouths. If he finished with positive results there would at least be some momentum and confidence. Not to be. Whether he has lost the dressing room is another discussion.
ReplyDeleteI love Gerrard but I'm personally glad he's now gone, and certainly not hoping for any future loan moves either. The running effort to score his last goal hasn't been seen all season - just where was it? I'll miss the presence and awe of Stevie but his performance level (and with it, direct leadership) has waned significantly. I'd also put half the squad on notice. Play for the shirt or you're out. It should be made crystal clear, and Rodgers or anyone else should have the guts to do it.
I can't see anything but positives for next season. Gerrard, Johnson, Lambert, Balo, Borini, Coates, Aspas, Alberto, Toure should all be gone. That's a fantastic starting point.
Till the new season :)
Oh thank god for that! I was starting to wonder why they looked at me funny at the chemists, probably my BR tattoo then :)
ReplyDelete...you are a kind and forgiving man case.....
ReplyDeleteMore of a relieved man to be fair, wondered what I'd got myself into...
ReplyDeleteps. as far as the tattoo is concerned is your chemist's name logan...?
ReplyDelete...if so he has a list you know......
Crikey I've just realised the innuendo potential I've just created, I'm out of here before things get messy ;-)
ReplyDeleteNot sure how to put this into words adequately but I can't see many disagreeing with the vibe of your post.
ReplyDeleteI just want to say that although it's been plain to see for a while that Gerrard is not the force he once was - it's surely been difficult for him to make those 'runs' from the deep lying playmaker, false DM, holding midfielder etc etc role, although that then brings BR's tactics back into the equation and it shouldn't, because your post, IMO, sets us all up to move on and look forward and with a genuine YNWA feeling, happy days :)
Lot of truth in that, utd are loathsome creatures.
ReplyDeleteAgree too with most of your post. Sounds quite daft but if I was ever going to feel sorry for a multi millionaire sportsperson who deserved more than he got, it would be our Captain Fantastic.
Many, many, greats before him, but for sheer blo*dy mindedness in dragging our sorry carcasses over the line time and again, he deserves a special place in LFC history and to use the word again I'm truly 'gutted' he never got the league title he deserved.
Your not helping the value of my ebay ad!!
ReplyDeleteAccording to sources at the club *cough cough* that Rodgers job is defibately in doubt, and this before todays farce... Senior officials at the club expressing annoyance at Brendan's arrogance.... Take this with apinch of salt, but it's out there, and somebody is saying these things...
ReplyDeleteGerard gave all to LFC. A poor run for a few games including his last in LFC shirt shouldn't be judged. He is our Legend...period. But I'm not comfortable with BR managing the club next season.
ReplyDeleteYeah ya cross the international date line.
ReplyDeleteBrendon Rodgers' loyalists ..where are ya fellas?????
ReplyDeletePLEASE COME AND PROVIDE SOME FASCINATING STATISTICS IN DEFENSE AND PRAISE OF YA SUGAR DADDY.
And FSG :
I hope now you have woken up from your deep slumber. If am right, then please go and get Klopp. You can't do any better.
YNWA
.
You can always pay his bills.
ReplyDeleteSoft spot :D
Rodgers is blatantly a very good coach and virtually all the respectable players have had nothing but good things to say about him -- Carragher, Gerrard, Suarez have all made a point of praising his work. We had two semi-finals this year and narrowly missed out on CL qualification despite the yawning problems that developed in the squad through injury and form. It's been disappointing obviously, but the coach has done a good job in many respects over a difficult season.
ReplyDeleteStoke was a bad result, but these things happen in football. Man Utd losing 5-3 to Leicester didn't make Van Gaal a bad coach suddenly, or destine Utd to disaster. It's not hard to remember Liverpool inflicting a few heavy defeats on good clubs in the last few years. These things happen. It's not hard to see that there are problems in the squad which are beyond the coach's control and not of his making, unless the frankly silly argument that it's down to "overpraise" of Sterling is accepted.
For me, the fight went out of our team when it became clear Sturridge wasn't coming back, and that Balotelli wasn't going to play for us, for whatever reason -- there's clearly more to be learned about that situation. Then the Sterling affair started to disrupt the dressing room. It's clearly not a good place to be right now. But just pinning that on Rodgers shows a lack of understanding of the dimensions of his task and his responsibilities, what he can and can't control. It also shows a shallow appreciation of how fortunes can change dramatically in football.
Some people are determined to be negative because for whatever reason they always hated Rodgers and resented it when his team did well, so this is a big day for them. The people saying Sterling didn't sign because of Rodgers, don't feel they have to accept that Henderson and Coutinho, much more important players for us, did -- they're just going to overlook that, because this is their big moment, their vindication. Don't pay them too much attention. You'd have to be blind not to see what's about to happen at the club, that's been on the cards for some time. But it doesn't mean that suddenly all the good things that we've seen happen at the club in the last three years are invalidated. I only hope that Liverpool isn't about to get taught a serious lesson about the grass always being greener on the other side... !
