Transfer Stunner: Liverpool willing to do £50m deal for 'incredible' attacker if an offer is made

Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling continues to stall on signing a new contract, and although the Reds seemingly want to keep him at Anfield, it is claimed that the club is actually willing to sell...for the right price.

According to The Telegraph on Wednesday evening:

"It would take a bid of around £50 million – enough to secure a ready-made replacement – to change [Liverpool's] stance on Sterling and there is no indication that any team in Europe currently value him at such a level".

There's a stultifyingly simple reason why no team in Europe values Sterling at £50m: He isn't worth it, and he's achieved absolutely NOTHING significant in the game.

Sterling could've distinguished himself somewhat this season by making a difference to Liverpool's charge for a Champions League place, but when the going got tough, the allegedly 'incredible' attacker disappeared without trace.

Forget £50m, though - Ex-Red Jamie Redknapp believes that Sterling could be worth even more than that in a couple of years. In a recent interview, he claimed:

"There's no reason you can't put clauses in a contract these days. If he [Sterling] carries on progressing and someone offers £80m in two years that triggers a clause - fine".

£80m? I confidently predict that is never going to happen. In what universe is Sterling worth more than Luis Suarez, who cost Barcelona £65m?

As much as I detest Suarez's negative antics on the field, he is a champagne footballer who's proven his worth time and time again (47 goals/assists for Barca this season), and Sterling will never (IMO) reach that level of footballing genius.

Additionally, Memphis Depay - who smashed 35 goals/assists this season - will reportedly cost Man United around £25m, and we're to believe that Sterling is worth twice as much as him? Come on, let's be serious for a minute.

The only person who thinks Sterling is worth £50m+ is...Raheem Sterling.

  1. It depresses me massively that we didn't sign delay. I seen this quote in the mirror and it couldn't be more true "The aim of that recruitment system seems to be to buy players the manager won’t use for more money than anyone else is remotely interested in paying for them, whilst missing out on the ones worth having."

  2. In the last six years LFC have only won the League Cup under Kenny so to hold anything against Sterling for not achieving anything is unfair IMO.

He has only been part of the 1st team for 3 seasons but he definitely is not worth £50m. But then again, Lallana was not worth £25m so at the end of the day it is what the buying club is willing to pay.

I still would not sell Sterling. With him being only 20 he can develop into a very good player. Last season Sterling excelled in the no 10 role with two strikers ahead of him. This season he has not been utilised there. Instead it has been expected of him to fill in for Sturridge and Suarez while Lambert, Balotelli and Borini have been on holiday.

    ReplyDelete
  3. The way I see it is that if we don't sell sterling he walks for free when his contract runs out, so why not sell him now to the highest offer ?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Sell. We dont need bad eggs

    ReplyDelete
  5. Sterling if sold will have a say of where he will go. LFC cannot just force him to join club A who offered more compared to club B who offered less. If Sterling wants to join club B then it will be down to LFC to negotiate on a better price.

    ReplyDelete
  6. And his end product is pOor left nd right

    ReplyDelete
  7. He is our highest scorer this season and only behind Hendo when it comes to assists.

We paid £20m for Markovic who is nowhere near the end product and is 21. Sterling is miles ahead of Markovic.

So we get rid of Sterling and sign who to replace him? Milner?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Every team always puts a players price up. It's not like Rodgers is going to turn around and say "Yea, we'd probably sell him for £5 million...Why not eh."
It's obviously a tactic to put off other clubs.

    ReplyDelete
  9. this is true, but don't you recon that he wants to leave anyway

    ReplyDelete
  10. He wont develop with that dirty selfish attitude. Sell now. Were bigger than that spoilt brat who cant finish from 2 yards.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Maybe sterling is a f**l maybe not; one thing is for sure we need more high value/high technical ability players as a team.
We can't just let players go for no reason other than they have suddenly acquired a tsunami of self esteem - all of the players in the champion league have that....
I personally think sterling has faded badly this season and should hold himself in check....someone influential around him needs to nail his feet to the floor....tell him to sign new contract and then prove himself in next 6-12 months and bug*** off for the release clause....
....as far as £50-£80mill is concerned, apparently he's met with Bayern Munich.... Ribery/Robben seriously look how they play.... Almost exactly like older versions of sterling...in todsys money how much would a ten year younger ribery/Robben lovechild cost to buy.....you can start to see why some might regard him as quite valuable...
...anyhow he should learn from Suarez; sign a new contract - play - increase value - go for the release clause.....

    ReplyDelete
  12. Lol, do these TV stations ply their pundits with drink, drugs and/or a combination of both?

Maybe, but they definitely encourage sensationalistic claims, such as putting £80 milliion into the same sentence as Raheem Sterling.

Even Carra has turned into a hyperbole machine (hyperbolic chamber?)...smh

Tbh, I'd be pleased if we got £30 million for him. Just think how many over-rated or under-developed players we can buy with that.

    Lol, two, probably smh again

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hey man, I feel your pain, but don't let the Depay debacle despress you.

Imho, he was ALWAYS going to sign to play for LvG.

    ReplyDelete
  14. My thoughts exactly.

    ReplyDelete
  15. He said he is waiting till the end of the season. I reckon it is to see what FSG have planned regarding the managerial situation.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree. Markovic absolutely useless. What a ripoff. Sterling 20times better. But id still sell sterling for 50m. We can get konoplyanka for free, buy son heung min for 15m and use rest of money to get striker like lacazette or higuain. Sterling inconsistent and overrated. Sterling cost £10m. Trust me. £50m is a dream

    ReplyDelete
  17. "...tsunami of self esteem"

    Quality writing.

I wish we could make him sign a new contract because then his sell-on fee would be that much higher.

Disagree with you on the Robben/Ribery/Sterling comparison though. I've not seen anything from Sterling that suggests he can approach that level of class.

To me, Robben and Ribery are naturally gifted footballers, whereas I view Sterling as more of an athlete, first, footballer, second.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Class act to the end Stevie G, nice final press conference. He's advised Raheem to stay and develop. If he goes, so be it, we have some good academy players coming through, we just need to ensure we add some experience.

    ReplyDelete
  19. He ain't going to win anything with LFC in our current state of affairs.

City are rumoured to have an interest. +1 for City as they increase their home grown quota and +1 for Sterling as City are in a position to win trophies.

If they offer Sterling the same as what LFC did then why should he stay at LFC?

Who is gonna pay for the dud?

In JKs words, "The only person who thinks Sterling is worth ANYTHING is...Raheem Sterling. And BR"

    ReplyDelete
  21. Our chances of getting Lacazette are nil. Why would he want to join LFC when he can cherry pick his next team.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Haha, I maybe over exsadurated my depression. More pissed off.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Just because he's our highest scorer this season doesn't mean his end product is not poor. There are a good few players around the Premier League that have outscored Sterling and out-assisted Hendo, and we'd laugh many of them off the park if they demanded 100k a week to sign for us. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Charlie Austin, for instance.

    ReplyDelete
  24. In fairness he has not played in his more suited attacking position, also Can needs to be moved into midfield. Am all for flexibility but need to give players a go in their preferred positions. I think a few of them might develop next season.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lol, careful with those "exsadurations," they sound painful ; )

    ReplyDelete
  26. Clearly you do not read news headlines !
BR has said that Sterling will stay at Liverpool on 35kp/w for the next 2 years rather than sell to rival club .
IF Liverpool gets 50m from abroad when he will get sold !!

    ReplyDelete
  27. what are you smoking? don't go for the cheap weed. that's how you get this ridiculous thoughts of even comparing a wank to players like Robben and Ribery
    sell Sterling, buy quality
    YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  28. Exactly. Sterling has 7 league goals this season, and that's worth £100K+ a week? In a delusional parallel universe, maybe, but not in the real world.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Madhav Chaudhari1:54 pm, May 14, 2015

Totally agree with whats been quoted. Dont know how many gems are going to land up with LFC this summer.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yet we can pay £20m for Markovic and £25m for Lallana who have contributed f all but take stabs at Sterling for being expected to fill the gaps Suarez and Sturridge have left? What is the bet that if Suarez was still playing for us that Sterling would have had a great season?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thats NOT changing !

    ReplyDelete
  32. Madhav Chaudhari1:55 pm, May 14, 2015

    Oooppps. Missed that guy. :D

    ReplyDelete
  33. Why do you constantly peddle the myth that Sterling somehow irreplaceable? He adds very little to the team overall, and his goals/assists ratio is easily replaceable.

As for Milner - I'd rather chew broken glass than see him in a Liverpool shirt, but I'd rather have Milner than Sterling at this stage.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ok, first, thanks for the compliment....

...second, when Sterling is on form/on fire/concentrating/not thinking of money (take your pick) then he is really very good indeed. It wouldn't take the worlds best coach to 'educate' him into one of the world's best players.
Yes he is an athlete but when he gets going the boy glides and passes people easily - his main failures are giving the ball away and huffing and puffing instead of retrieving...and also having issues with end product....BUT...if one assesses last year when he was enthusiastic and had suarez and studge with him he really did shine....so doesnt that somewhat smack of being bothered...?
...and would you if you were twenty and had to 'carry' a club the stature of LFC on your shoulders as a striker when the other 'strikers' in the team just are not good enough.....?
..I believe he is a very good footballer when he concentrates and really its a shame that we probably wont get to see the best of him in a red LFC shirt......

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks bro.....

....can you get me the really expensive stuff....?

...then I can talk the same sh** as you..... ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Liverpool DO NOT want to sell Sterling ,
They have made him an offer of 100k p/w that he has rejected , so what must they do ?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Liek 'Rodgers Out', your 'Sterling is the bomb' line is just the latest crusade you're on, and no matter what the stats/reality, you will stick to it, not(IMO) because you actually believed it, but because you just don't want to change your mind, and hope to be proven right, so at some undetermined point in the future, you can gleefully state: 'I told you so'.

And that's fine, of course, but Sterling is not the superstar you make him out to be, and the factual stats prove that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. ...its ok hug kiss....opinions are like ar**holes remember.... :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. You might start chewing the glass now because it appears he is what we will get. Already Depay gone to the Manures Lacazette going to chelski and no Pjanic stories anymore. We wont even get the australian keeper Ryan

    ReplyDelete
  40. Madhav Chaudhari2:01 pm, May 14, 2015

Issue could not be that he land up with LvG, but what Mr. Rodgers quoted, "It wasnt something we were ever interested in"

    ReplyDelete
  41. I am pretty sure there is a solution to the Sterling drama and we will know what is happening once the season has ended.

If Sterling wants to go then the club have no choice but to get rid as he only has 2 year left on his contract plus he is on about £40k a week so his contract is worth bugger all when we plan on selling him.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Jainie its not really about HIS value or not or really what he brings to the team (for me personally he only delivers if surrounded by better players) no this issue is one where LFC have to show they are also a force to be reckoned with and have to show that they can negotiate with players/agents/parents et al..

...thus far with some of the farces that have played out with overpaying, being gazzumped, held hostage etc...LFC have to 'win' this one one way or another or its going to give a very bad message to the world that we can't run a business.........

    ReplyDelete
  43. What is that solution ??

    ReplyDelete
  44. I never once said Sterling is a superstar but if the club is signing the likes of Markovic at £20m and paying way over the odds for Lallana who are no better than Sterling then you sit with one hell of a problem.

    ReplyDelete
  45. ...clone him and flog the other one........

    ReplyDelete
  46. You're more than welcome, my man : )

Last year it was much, much easier for Sterling, though. We had arguably the best player in the world, and another 20 goal man In Stuzz doing the bizzo.

So, at best, sterling was really ever only the third most concerning player for the opposition.

It's a whole new world when you're the main man and defenses are setting up to stop you.

When defenses were collapsing around Luis, everyone else had more space and more time. Without Suarez, things got tougher for everyone else this year, leadinjg to Sterling looking a little less impressive.

Couts bucked this trend with an awesome year, but then Couts, for me, is a proper footballer.

He was beginning to show some amazing form the previous season, but sadly, that progress was derailed for the rest of the season when Ashley "Scumbag" Williams cynically clattered him at Swansea.

Couts never fully regained his mojo after that, not until this season where he elevated himself once again.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Never once said Sterling was irreplaceable. We will not be able to find a 'cheap solution' to replace Sterling.

    ReplyDelete
  48. When men get jilted the "I was never interested in the first place" line is often heard.

That said, I have not and am not saying that we were or were not in for him.

I was merely attempting to cheer up the guy who said he was depressed and seriously worried about us missing out on targets, when in actual fact (in my little mind) Depay was always going to want to play for his fellow countryman, someone who is a legend in the Netherlands

    ReplyDelete
  49. We will have to see, IMO if Rodgers stays then Sterling will be off as he can go sign for another club who will offer the same as what LFC did and have a chance to win trophies.

    ReplyDelete
  50. ....My question is how did that get past the moderator....when mine containing the word 'hello' gets 'guantanmo bayed'.......?!?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Lol, my post praising the auhtor yesterday was also deemed unacceptable...funny!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Your all wrong about Markovic. He is a good player that needs game time and encouragement. He has vision, he can see a pass and has game intelligence. Given a chance, which he may only get if Sterling leaves he will be worth 20m.

    ReplyDelete
  53. ...hey hug kiss....#lfc was "never really depressed in the first place"..........

    ReplyDelete
  54. Further baffling disdain for Milner. Signing a dedicated, hard-working and experienced International with more than 50 caps to his name and two EPL titles on a free transfer shouldn't be something to be ashamed of. It could be an absolutely brilliant piece of business, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yes indeed, but was only commenting on his user name and naughty language...his comments were not, even for one second, entertained!

    *Smiling face*

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anyone who wants to belive a player like Lacazette is going to join under Rodgers seriously need to come back to reality.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Nobody will pay £50m for Sterling.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Delusion in the extreme. Glad we agree on this.

    ReplyDelete
  59. As long as we are not paying hims an arm and a leg in wages.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Totally agree with you, good shout. It's just business.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Clearly he is worth more as that was merely the initial offer which he turned down.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Go look at the summer window, we failed to sign any better attackers than Sterling spending £66m along the way.

Fingers being pointed at Sterling when there are far bigger issues on hand.

    ReplyDelete
  63. If, as you correctly point out, we overpaid for Markovic and Lallana, then surely the solution is not to repeat the mistake with another player?

Also, if Sterling was indeed by default expected to fill in the SAS gap this season, he has shown himself to be as yet unable to do so.

I'm sure Sterling would have had a better season because much of his good form last season came when the SAS made lots of room for him to run into.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I don't think we'll go out on a limb for him to be honest

    ReplyDelete
  65. Sterling brought the situation upon himself though.

Regardless of where the club has spent its money over the past few years.

Sterling's the one that told LFC to up the offer, that he's worth more than they're willing to pay.

And then he goes and does an unsanctioned interview before the most important game of the season, and talks about how flattering it is to be thought of highly by Arsenal.

And since he went public with the interview, his performances have suffered.

So here we have a player declaring that he's worth more, but doesn't back it up on the field with his performances.

Of course fingers will be pointed at him. He brought it upon himself.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'd hold fire on the glass chewing even a half empty glass is better than none ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  67. The shame is that by and large, the players we have gone out on a limb for have failed us.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Everyone was having a go at Sterling long before he went public about his situation.

Rodgers was the one who could not stop mouthing himself off in the media about Sterling.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Ok but you are expecting Sterling to pull of a Suarez and without the help of Sturridge?

    ReplyDelete
  70. They have not been able to harm the opposition and we can't t rid of them because they just won't leg it.

    ReplyDelete
  71. We get the message - a manager should never praise an up and coming youngster because ALL youngsters are like Sterling and will do exactly the same thing. Shame you don't have a number of other examples of this happening at Liverpool. Rodgers praises every single player so I guess we will have a mutiny on our hands next season.

Give it a rest about Sterling - it really is becoming tedious coming to this website and seeing Sterling mentioned (i.e., I told you so) every day. Anything else out there?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Harry Shearer just quit the Simpsons.

    ReplyDelete

Harry Shearer, is that Homer, amongst others?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Phew as long as the star is still there - Santa that is

    ReplyDelete
  75. But that's the problem with your point:

He DID do more harm to himself as a result of that interview.

I'm not absolving Rodgers as I certainly think he had a role to play, and mismanaged the situation.

But Sterling only made a bad situation worse.

Sterling could no longer claim "hearsay" or "benefit of the doubt", because he confirmed what everyone already thought... that he wants more money, and that he's flattered by a rival's interest.

There's simply no conceivable way that fans would react positively to that.

Look, I'm not saying that Sterling cannot get the money. Ultimately, the market will determine that.

But for a player to mistime an interview and talk about turning down a raise, how flattered he is by a rival's interest, and then to perform poorly in the games that followed... that part is ALL on Sterling.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I know many have taken offence at the ribery/robben thing but what i meant was they are both fast technically gifted footballers and obvious game changers but...they are thirty years old + and Sterling is only a baby.....

defenders are getting better and the game is changing with the higher competition in gameplay; there is a very real possibility that with his separate components sterling could become fantastic...and I wonder if that is what some pundits are saying when they value him highly....

.....I see and appreciate both sides....but err on the side that he will be worth alot of money and we should play hardball................

    ReplyDelete
  77. Sreling is a spoiled little child and will never make it big time - sae Messi at 17 - Sterling is a joke - cant even shoot straight - cant dribble - cant cross --- CASH IN REDS = NOW

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  81. I don't mind Milner, just fear he'll be another Joe Cole.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Still not yet made your mind up about Sterling then?

    ReplyDelete
  83. All he did was let the club know that he will leave. Why else would he have the interview and how is that going to harm his situation when he will have every other manager, club etc watching the interview. The fact that LFC had no control of the situation is quite laughable. Here is LFC being rejected by a kid at £100k a week and cannot be convinced to put pen to paper. Why is it only looked at because of money? Does a player not have ambition? What is his chances of wining something at LFC currently?

Sterling would most likely be the highest paid 20 year old in the world by accepting £100k a week. Why does he have to accept an offer with no guarantee of success when he can join another club who will offer the same or more and will have a chance to win trophies.

    ReplyDelete
  84. That's ok. We could do with a Messi.

    ReplyDelete
  85. He wants BR to dump on him.

    ReplyDelete
  86. ......lets deed-poll him and change his name from james milner to 'hamez Meeniez' and then take another vote.....

...what you reckon of the difference.....?

    ReplyDelete
  87. I'm not saying he has to accept LFC's offer.

If another team is willing to pony up the transfer fee and pay him what he wants, bless his heart.

I don't have a problem with him asking for a raise or trying to get more money. That's simple capitalism.

For every action there is an equal or greater reaction, and Sterling's actions have consequences that he has to live with.

He has to live with the consequences of his playing performance (good and bad), signing a new contract, rejecting a new contract, mistiming an interview, talking about a rival's interest and how it flatters him, getting caught with a drug, etc.

These are all things that Sterling has to deal with because of his own actions.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Is that the dimension where Sterling is worth more than Suarez?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Sterling's interview will not harm his reputation as everything that was said before the interview had just been repeated even by the lady who interviewed him. It will also not harm him when teams like Madrid have shown an interest.

The club could not even control the situation before with Rodgers having verbal diarrhea and even after the interview which is a much bigger problem as the world is watching and laughing how a 20 year old kid is rejecting us at £100k a week which was well known before the interview.

He was not even kicked out of the team! Like I said earlier, their are far bigger issues at the club. If Sterling does not sign then he will move on. It is that simple and LFC will spend the money from the Sterling sale on who?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Oh yes indeed YNWA. Remind me what the W stands for again

    ReplyDelete
  95. 1. Sterling looked bad in the interview. If you don't understand why that hurts him even after I've explained it, I can't help you and I'm not going any further with that.

    2. Let's see Madrid show real interest first other than Zidane stating the obvious innocent answer from a loaded question. Any major team in the world is going to have an extensive scouting network.

    3. You keep trying to spin this into a Rodgers issue. I've agreed it's also a Rodgers issue. Move on.

    4. There are far bigger issues at the club, but that's not what I'm discussing with you. My original point, and the subject which we are discussing, is Sterling himself and how he has mismanaged the situation.

You evidently feel he hasn't mismanaged the situation. I feel he has, and is partly culpable for the situation he is in.

    We simply disagree (as usual).

I'd like to know who the undermining scrote is that keeps making it public knowledge that contracts are being refused everytime a negotiation is under way...... The key word in these situations is "negotiation" because they are negotiations, and no-one has to except the first offer... These deals have been going on long before Sterling was ever born, but now we make a huge deal about somebody trying to negotiate a better deal for themselves..... The person leaking these negotiations needs to be found, and removed from the club... end of.

  114. D'oh-n't be that way.

    ReplyDelete
  115. You're right, make her tell your boss!

    ReplyDelete
  116. Who stands to gain most from it being leaked? That's usually the answer.

The best saying you can bank on (pun intended) is...

    ...FOLLOW THE MONEY!

Remember when Ashley Cole said he nearly crashed his car when he was offered £65k pw?
    Everybody lost their mind.
LFC fans said they didn't want him when he became available and called him Cashley. I would put up against any LB we've had before or since. Especially since we are paying Johnson £120k pw to be a crap one

    ReplyDelete
  118. That's a fair assessment IMO, although I feel Lallana was worth the money myself and hopefully this coming season he will remain unfettered by injury and show us his true worth. Fingers crossed we both get our wish in retaining young Raheem then.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Stevie G is now advising Sterling to stay - NO NO NO NO NO ------ GO

    ReplyDelete
  120. I agree... and for that matter, all you have to ask yourself is "who benefits by leaking the details"?

One could argue it's the club, making Sterling out to be money-hungry or (in Jaimie's terms) a mercenary.

One could argue it's Sterling's crew, making the club look like they are cheap unwilling to pony up for one of their up and coming players.

In my opinion, I'm guessing it's the club. It's all part of one large propaganda machine to get the fans on their side and pressure the player.

    ReplyDelete
  121. 'please don't'
When do I get my chequebook and pen?

    ReplyDelete
  122. I am very much with Jamie on Sterling.

He has had a great chance to prove himself this season and has utter failed.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Liverpool won't sell him for anything less than 40mn

    ReplyDelete
  124. They're probabaly all whispering in each others ears, with agents and other insider dealings and what not, using the press for their respective leverage/gains.

Manipulating the media, along with negotiating for players, along with successfully identifying talent, along with our worrying desire to keep re-jigging the team every few months, thus thwarting any real cohesion are definitely weak areas for us now.

    ReplyDelete
  125. ...and all the journalists who awarded him the Golden Boy trophy. And all the journalists who put him in their "Top 10 Youngsters in the World" lists. And the OPTA people who put him in the top 10 attackers in the Premier League. But other than that, yeah, no one.

    ReplyDelete
  126. This is some deep meta.

    ReplyDelete
  127. What evidence to suggest he will be better if surrounded by better players?????????.
He runs at defenders and loses the ball again and again and again! ,his finishing is second to none

    ReplyDelete
  128. Don't wish this to sound flippant but , - last season, he contributed greatly to us 'finishing second'

    ReplyDelete
  129. Well done everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Do I hear 85 for Sterling...

    going once.....twice...

    ReplyDelete
  131. 50 is a good price tag, sell him if the offers come, if not then wait until the contract expired, and let him go for free, it's better than try to meet their demands.......

In the interest of balance after yet ANOTHER negative Sterling article from JK:

Sterling has achieved nothing of significance in his career because he plays for a team which has achieved nothing themselves

He has comfortably outperformed Coutinho, who is thought to have signed a £90k pw contract recently. Pro rata on his key results on goals, chances made, key passes and successful crosses WOULD put him over £100k if Coutinho's wage is deemed acceptable
He has played in a wide number of roles and to my mind always gives 100%
He has achieved more than players paid over £100k in his own team. 11 goals in all competitions this season
Against that, he has indeed disappeared when we really needed a spark of genius. Although that could equally be said of Henderson and he too was granted £100k status
He is a POOR finisher; £100k players work harder at their weaknesses
Him and his agent have been PR disasters for the club

    ReplyDelete
  133. No, I expect him to be able to score from 2 yards out

    ReplyDelete
  134. There is no point in trying to have a discussion with Logan.

    4. WW" = BR's fault

    5. Every single Natural Distance, War, terrible thing to of ever of happened in the history of the known Universe = BR's Fault

    ReplyDelete
  135. The only way this situation makes sense is if he has the same agent as Sterling.

    ReplyDelete
  136. So from this we can see that BR is in fact God.

    ReplyDelete
  137. kopaloadadis edited his comment. His original comment ended with 'Is there any other news out there?'

    ReplyDelete
  138. Yes it was second to one

    ReplyDelete
  139. Who said that?

    ReplyDelete
  140. Aah...well I stand by my comment about Harry Shearer then.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Seems a bit harsh on the other one though. Harsh but fair.

    ReplyDelete
  142. All fair points.

One note: I believe Couts is on 75k per week with the adjusted deal.

    Except us finishing 2nd.
    That was Suarez's fault.

Ha Ha for a blind dog he's looking straight at the camera...

    ReplyDelete
  145. I don't think any stupid team would pay 50 for him, Once we receive a 30 m offer, I'll get the cab.

    ReplyDelete
  146. You can't say he offers nothing "Overall" then only pick.two parts of his game. Also when he is creating and scoring more than anyone else he is offering something. The fact that the team average is low is a factor but we would be below where we are in the league without his contribution. Can we be sure someone else would have done it for us? Looming at the team you cannot say for sure. Sterling is not irreplaceable at his current level but that doesn't mean he doesn't add to our current team. For someone who hates hyperbole you can be guilty of it yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  147. And we'll probably spend that on duds at inflated prices as well .........damn

    ReplyDelete
  148. Do you write for Christmas crackers?

    ReplyDelete
  149. A glue factory might be able to help me to get Luis to stay.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I can't see anyone paying the money we will ask. So that leaves Sterling with the choice of waiting a season where he could effectively lose million on top.of the hundreds of thousands he has already lost. We have some negotiating strength I think.

    ReplyDelete
  151. No great loss. Unfortunate but The Simpsons hasn't been good on a long long while.

    ReplyDelete
  152. True. I just have fond memories of the Simpsons of the 90s. Show was genius then. I stopped watching after the fifteenth season.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Harsh but fair ;-)

  154. Pot kettle black!

Wait, that doesn't work there. Let's try this...

    Checkmate!

Hmm, that doesn't work either. How about...

    Mark my words!

    There it is...

    ReplyDelete
  155. I knew very well we were never going to get Depay just like I knew we wouldn't get Sanchez like I know we won't get Lacazette like I know we won't get Jackson Martinez etc etc . We will probably end up with Danny Ings , Milner maybe another Southampton player though lol

    ReplyDelete
  156. Suarez cost Barcelona £75m. Liverpool did not want to sell him. You are very foolish if you believe the director and Liverpool just agreed to drop £10m from his release clause. Don't be silly.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Can you try to : a:) be moderating your voice b:) NOT be fanatic about Liverpool's pulling of transfers.
And Yes, he went for 81 m euros.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Me. He replied to me, once.

    ReplyDelete
  159. According to Barcelona, Suarez cost £65m, not £75m, as confirmed by one of the club's directors, Jordi Mestre:

"The release clause was 75 million pounds sterling and finally we reached an agreement for 65 million pounds. We were able to lower the price through the good work of our executives and because Suarez wanted to come here. We agreed 65 million pounds."

    http://www.espnfc.us/barcelona/story/1992585/barcelona-say-luis-suarez-cost-65-million-from-liverpool

    ReplyDelete
  160. According to Barca doesn't neccesarily means it is truth, Neymar? Though I believe this one, just saying..

    ReplyDelete
  161. Unless it gets really ugly and he tries to buy out the remainder of his contract, I'm not 100% sure of the technicalities involved but think he could use this to force our hand somewhat.

    ReplyDelete
  162. I reckon we were in for Depay until Sturridge announced he was laid up for another while. What I dont understand is why it took ANOTHER Sturridge injury for Rodgers to realise hes fucked

    ReplyDelete
  163. Especially when you can get Isco etc for 30ish

    ReplyDelete
  164. And that's not defeatist just realistic unfortunately...

    ReplyDelete
  165. One good side thing is we can look forward to is Ibes progression and the introduction of Sinclair. I hope he turns out to be a more cast iron sturridgesque striker. I'm aware he'll go on loan but I'm hoping that he follows the trajectory of Sterling, Ibe and Flano.

    ReplyDelete
  166. ...harsh to flog him, or harsh to 'f-l-o-g' him...?

....'hunches shoulders with a joker-like grin, whilst rubbing hands in glee and getting the whip out......'

    ReplyDelete
  169. Banned for cheating i dont believe a word they say.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Who should we get Logan idea would be nice.

    ReplyDelete
  171. It says on other site that depay wanted Liverpool as Rodgers pulled the plug, because he needed money for a striker, because of Sturridge injury.

    ReplyDelete
  172. When ringing a home escort service, press 0 for kinky requests, then 1 for golden shower, or 2 for brown hail.

    ReplyDelete
  173. A player can still achieve with their team not actually winning anything.

I would not say that sterling gives 100%, he has gone missing in far too many games, has been totally ineffective in many games and has many aspects of his game that needs attention.

He is no where as he thinks he is.

There are many players his age at lesser clubs over Europe who are better.

Fact is if he was any other nationality he would not get anywhere the media attention that he does.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Its the enough to sign a ready made replacement that made me laugh. Were talking about the man who signed Balotelli, Markovic and Lallana to replace Luis Suarez here.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Not saying what you say is not true but Barcelona are not the most transparent or trustworthy when it comes to transfers, taking the word of one of their directors and believing it wholeheartedly would seem foolish.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Correct Coutinho's basic is 75k, i would expect there would be bonus attached to performances however which is how contracts should be in my opinion, decent basic which can be topped up if you are as good as you think you are.

    ReplyDelete
  177. No Mr burns, Skinner and Ned Flanders.
