'The Pharaoh to Anfield'? Liverpool chase 'amazing' £20m attacker who's 'like Suarez'

Liverpool are once again being linked with a move for 'amazing' AC Milan star Stephan El Sharaawy, and according to his agent, the Italian attacker is open to a Premier League transfer.

When asked this week about El Sharaawy's future, his agent (and brother) told reporters:

"Would Stephan like to go abroad? I'd like to see him play overseas, for example in the Premier League. He has grown so much both physically and technically. A change of air could do him good. It could be an option."

Liverpool were last linked with £20m-rated* El Sharaawy in 2012, and at the time, Reds legend Steve Nicol raved:

"El-Shaarawy is like the Luis Suarez of Milan. Without him, goodness knows where they would be".

Soon after, Milan CEO Adriano Galliani went one further, and suggested that El Sharaawy is one of the best players in the world:

"El Shaarawy is playing better than we expected him to. I don’t know how many forwards of his age are scoring goals so consistently. The only other player like him in the world is Neymar"

High praise indeed, but over the last couple of years, El Sharaawy - who cost Milan €20m - has failed to live up to the considerable overhype. Some info about the Italian forward:

* 3 goals in 17 appearances this season.

* 27 goals/14 assists in 101 apps for Milan overall (goal/assist every 2.4 games)

* 1 goal in 11 apps for the Italy national team.

* 7 injuries over the last 3 seasons including THREE separate metatarsal fractures)

* 316 days on the sidelines; 57 games missed since season 2012/13.

* Nicknamed 'The Pharaoh' on account his Egyptian heritage.

Given his injury history, going ahead with this signing is a massive risk, but he fits the profile of the kind of player Rodgers (and his ego) would go for: young; massive potential; out of form, and in need of a kingmaker to unleash his talent etc.

Like with Balotelli, Rodgers is seemingly attracted to players he think he can 'rescue' and turn into superstars, but this deal is a risk that just isn't worth taking, and for that reason, Liverpool should avoid El Sharaawy like the plague.

That said, El Sharaawy and Balotelli worked well together at Milan, and back in 2013, the young attacker raved:

"We understand each other perfectly and have done good things in each game we have played together. He [Balotelli] always tries to help me. He has great technical qualities and has linked up very well with the rest of the team".

Hmmm. Perhaps El Sharaawy is the key to getting the best out of Balotelli?

  1. No way. Injuries, out of form and too costly. None of the AC Milan players are good tbh.

  2. @efenoticas.................................saying Carlo Ancelotti has an offer from Liverpool?.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Ancelotti says he is 50-50 on AC Milan's offer and will respond by June 3. Maybe he is waiting for Liverpool? Although I would prefer Klopp. Actually, even Rafa is good.....oh wait!

    ReplyDelete
  4. even AC Milan has offered him a job. I didn't know that club can offer jobs to ither managers before sacking the one at the club.

    ReplyDelete
  5. There's nothing on that twitter feed that references Ancelotti - have a look; perhaps I missed it.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Metro running it???.

    ReplyDelete
  7. He has been injured so much he should be known as the "Mummy"

    ReplyDelete
  8. He just came back from injury so "Mummy Returns" is more appropriate

Hell no. Another overrated light weight.
I would go for Vietto. He is like Suarez not this pretty boy.

    ReplyDelete
  10. One of the Italian journalist tweeted that we approached Ancelotti while he was still at Madrid and was about to get sacked. But he told Liverpool that he is taking a break.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Vietto is cheap too right? 10-12mn or something?

    ReplyDelete
  12. How about Lacazette or Lacazette and Vietto and Martinez, that would show some real intent, hope it starts happening soon though.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Should have kept hold of aspas instead loaning him out, he's had a good season, he must be having a right laugh at us

    ReplyDelete
  14. Laca who .......He'd never come and play under rodgers in a million years.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Now just sit back and think about this logically - until we know who our Manager next year will be then all these stories are make believe. This review scheduled for next week sounds like the blind leading the blind - An American popcorn seller will be questioning B R and the mind boggles what the outcome will be - its not looking good thats for sure

  16. Coke of Saville looked CLASS

    ReplyDelete
  17. Alexandre Lacazette, a fantastic player who fits our system a treat, peerless stats and youth on his side, it's who I think we should sign.
I've seen him and us mentioned in the press quite a bit before as well.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I dont' follow the reasoning. Paul Gascgoine is English, so this would be an argument for signing Andy Carroll? And look at the wonderful French players Houllier signed - Le Tallec, Cisse, Diomede, Sinam-Pongolle

    ReplyDelete
  19. Latest report is 14.5M, which is still a great price.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yh I know who he is. He's perfect for us. But he'd never play for us under rodgers in a million years.
We missed the boat not signing him before he blew up this season because now everyone wants him we won't get him.
I've said it time and time again

If we get lacazette and aubemeyang playing with sterling with coutinho behind them we'd be the team to watch.
We should have signed him 12 months ago

    ReplyDelete
  21. You do make a good point actually, Cisse was worth the entrance fee though, takes a mean penalty.
We should go for Germans then, their the best at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think if FSG were going to sack BR then it would have been done already.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hope he is physically strong enough for EPL or else he will be nicknamed 'Diet Coke'

Can't remember the last time I read a rumor and was excited about it. if things go the way they are, I am just going to sit and read the news as opposed to watching them make a mess of the club I grew up watching.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have my doubts on Lacazette. Haven't been impressed from his youtube videos as the defence of opposition was horrible most of the times. 35mn is too much...I wanted us to buy him last summer when quoted price was under 15mn.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hey, we are also signing Bolton's backup keeper. Cheer up.

What is it about LFC and potential transfer stories with injury prone players..... are we that hard up....?

    ReplyDelete
  28. He's a good striker no doubt but he's no where near the kind of striker we need. Under rodgers he'll be another wasted bag of money. Rodgers never exercises patience with strikers and looking at cb's high profile drought mid season he'd be dropped on the bench and what would u think that would do to his confidence.
Rodgers needs a quick mobile striker with pace to burn and an eye for goal. He looks like an in form Balotelli to me. A young target mam full of confidence.
We usually have problems with those. Last confident in form target man Carroll who couldn't stop scoring against us didn't work out well for us and mind u it's not because he was English.

If you'd have said Gianluca Di Marzio, I would have taken notice...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Its rumored that as per the Anfield expansion plans, Liverpool will have its own in-house state of the art hospital. Maybe that has something to do with it.

    *smiley face*

    ReplyDelete
  33. You still noticed.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Totally agree regards price, 35mil is definitely too much but then I think other teams would pay it so maybe it's just market value - albeit a ridiculous one.
I think Robo said a similar thing to me about the defence making him look good and I do value both his and your view and perhaps I shouldn't be quite as keen - it's just a gut feeling though and you could slant it that Lacazette himself is making the defence look poor.
To me he looks like a slightly better version of Studge and maybe a bit happier to use either foot, I also think he has the required ego and mentality to go very far indeed - hopefully as far as Anfield :)

  35. Stan Dinaround9:47 pm, May 28, 2015

I do know that Gianluca has an amazing record of calling transfers and managerial appointments before they become public knowledge.... If and when he mentions Ancelotti and LFC, I will take notice.... But at the moment, I still think FSG will stick with what they have.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Too big a risk for 35mn and I don't think he is better than Sturridge. Fitter, yes.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah Class A........Not for me though - he gets right up my nose.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Stan Dinaround9:49 pm, May 28, 2015

But £40m for Sterling is a fair price...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Stan Dinaround9:49 pm, May 28, 2015

Is that Saville Row, or Jimmy Saville?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yes, I think they are afraid that big name managers might not agree to their operational structure (transfer committee)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Dude...he is ENGLISH

    ReplyDelete
  42. Don't get me wrong - I like and rate Studge a lot and sincerely hope he remains at LFC for many years, but even if Lacazette just remained injury free most of the time then that in itself is a bit of an edge over Studge IMO.

Exactly my thoughts, FSG want a manager they can "control"

    ReplyDelete
  44. I am not even imagining next season under Rodgers I am convinced that his meeting in the states will result in him being sacked.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Unfortunately, Liverpool is out of control under these control freaks.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I definitely think they like a good 'yes man' but you'd have to be a control freak who likes to be tested to sanction signing Mario.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Not a given that 'we' need to know who the next manager is before signings can commence.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I read that Rafa had three conditions before agreeing to Madrid.

    1) he will bring his coaching staff
    2) total control over transfers
    3) total control over youth system

That explains why FSG doesn't consider Rafa

    ReplyDelete
  49. Indubitably.

    ReplyDelete
  50. It's understandable. It's one thing for a club like Real that can afford to just fire the guy if his plans don't work. For us, if things don't work out we'll become more midtable than ever. FSG can hold some aspect of control (and responsibility to us fans if it goes wrong) this way.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yep we may have missed the boat but I'm still hoping FSG will dig deep and make Lyon a ridiculous offer they can't refuse and then I can dream about us being the team to watch again as you mention.
At this stage it's still nice to dream ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  52. He liked butt of everything. I mean bit of everything.

    ReplyDelete
  53. They can if it works.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Lambortelli

    ReplyDelete
  55. You are doing it right.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Not really a laughing matter in fairness. ..

    ReplyDelete
  57. ooooh after we evaluate I really hope we inquire..I love to hear of Liverpool inquiring...Then we'll sign Ings..

    ReplyDelete
  58. ahha..You beat me to it. I wanted to make a mummy joke, but yours is better..tip of the hat (and I'm not even wearing one!)

    ReplyDelete
  59. We do back surgery now?..I suppose we do need a supplementary income the rate we're going

    ReplyDelete
  60. Can't see it FSG making it happen; hypothetically though Jamie - Klopp or Rafa?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Who's familiar with ausburg defender
Rb Baba rahman. Would he be good for us
Every time I've seen him he's been pretty solid.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I think Rafa or Klopp would be a better choice than Ancelotti. However, will FSG approve a manager like Rafa? He will require a total control over clubs transfers and will be very different to BR (yes man). I really don't think FSG will give that kind of authority to a single person. But if they allow Rafa to operate as he wants then I am all for it.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I think Rafa is a slightly safer bet as he is familiar with the club, city and some of the players too. Also has good experience in EPL with Liverpool and Chelsea. With Klopp..i fear a year of transition...AGAIN!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Really? Really. ..???

    ReplyDelete
  65. Well jk what if the wanna move back to Spain if they had to leave liverpool. I mean the way I see it most Spanish people love living in Spain. Just ask de gea's wag wink wink.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Or Suarez' wag.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Aubemeyang is a more likely bet
But I doubt he'd leave a mid table team for another mid table team at this stage

    ReplyDelete
  68. Baba Rahman. Great name.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Honestly though why don't we try signing players straight from the south American market. Most clubs don't regret it. Lucas hasn't been a bust why not take the plunge again.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Rafa is our guy. no1 wins Champions League in here first seaon with Liverpool. only Rafa. this guy benitez has brought me the most joy ever as a liverppol and to actually mastermind that CL win from 3nil down he deserves anoher chance. hes a true legend and signed some truly world class players despite having not the same money as that dolphin Brendan Rodgers.

Benteke has a release clause for 32m. sounds good to me, hes top class and has scored against all the big clubs in the PL including twice against chelsea, 5 times against Liverpool, 5 times against Everton, 2 times against United, 1 against man city, 2 times against Arsenal, 4 times against Spurs. hes devastating and in his 3 years in the PL has always turned up for the big game, and no matter how much you try you cant stop him. we need a player who can affect our big games and get us those wins. Benteke can get 30 goals at LFC 1st season.

looks like were going to making a big for Nico Gaitan, theyve given us a price a 21million. and we bidded 10m for Clyne. dumb rodgers, wish they would just sack him, not even £12m, something reasonable.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Jaimie...during the press conference de laurintiis said that Rafa can take him to perez to get a good contract from madrid. I think its 99% done...not sure if he would choose Liverpool over madrid

    ReplyDelete
  72. I agree his wife is more likely to agree to a move back to Spain.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Ne neither.
If u asked me to chose between another season of rodgers and the plague. I might choose the season but I'd seriously have to think about it.
Death by football. Out of his own mouth smh

    ReplyDelete
  74. Klopp anyday or DeBoer. Rafa had us playing boring-ass football.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yes am all in for Benteke. About Clyne..I read that Southampton rejected our 10mn bid....will probably increase it to 20-25mn by August and sign him. No worries. In couple of years we might also buy their academy.

    ReplyDelete
  76. He would have done more than balo, borini and lambert, he's scored 11 goals while being on loan, what's our strikers scored ???????

    ReplyDelete
  77. Being reported that we had an "official" 10M bid for Clyne rejected. Encouraging that we're after a legit RB, but doubt it's true anyway...

    ReplyDelete
  78. If we are going to a have new manager at all then why not Rafa, a lot of plusses as you say and he would put the cat amongst the likes of moanhio etc and maybe get the better of one or two more than Brendan has in the tactics department.
As Jamie says he must have added some new tricks to his repertoire since he was last with us.
Only problem is that nagging 'you should never go back feeling'

    ReplyDelete
  79. I don't understand all the fuss about De Boer tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Unai Emery also would be good.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Really what does it mean?
I only know him from watching the afcons he had a very positive tournament. He's also a very good crosser of the ball .

    ReplyDelete
  82. He will be a massive upgrade on BR. no doubt.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Behave where he went wrong he's incredibly stubborn I don't want to go back to the days of ultra defence boring football. He's had his time he won us trophies but let's not tarnish what was achieved before, bringing him back won't garantee any success the rest of the league has moved on since he was at the helm here

    ReplyDelete
  84. I read that even Jorge Jesus is holding out on contract talks with Benfica as he is looking for a Liverpool job.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Maybe, for me I'd like a Brendan Benitez mutation that retained the best of both of them, better tactics but with a bias towards more attacking football.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Plenty of top candidates available. I'm not such a big BR hater myself, but the time seems right for us to part ways. Plenty of replacements for us, and plenty of job openings for him. Win-Win. Plus, he might relieve us of the Welsh Xavi ;)

    ReplyDelete
  87. just saying the name will sound good during commentary. Haven't seen him play so can't judge.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Rafa sounds good to me.or klopp or ancelotti.i would be happy with any of them as long as they sack Rodgers. I haven't been this depressed since half time in the champions league final 2005.please go brendan! !!

    ReplyDelete
  89. He has scored most of his goals against lower league clubs

    ReplyDelete
  90. but he NEVER ran more than 10 feet ata time. With his physical gifts, he should have been a runaway freight train. Instead, he was a well built, immobile, scowling mannequin..............

    ReplyDelete
  91. One of the best articles in a long time, Kudos.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Praying right along with you Logan sir!

    ReplyDelete
  93. I remember when we bought Allen and his first few matches. I actually thought what a great signing it was..a real bargain. But then he suffered an injury and never really looked the same again.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Klopp all day long..................

    ReplyDelete
  95. It could be perfectly possible, he loves Liverpool just as Madrid, if no more.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Everyone would love that but BR's style of play is not consistent enough to label it as attacking. Yet.

    ReplyDelete
  97. How do you know?;)

    ReplyDelete
  98. Maybe some of the football wasn't that exciting but there was also some excellent football. When stevie and torres linked up it was a thing of beauty . Also, hammering Madrid in anfield. Juventus. Winning in Barcelona. How far we are away from that now ...

    ReplyDelete
  99. True, may have been different with a striker this season though.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I don't but it is my opinion based on what I have heard. Time will tell though ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  101. He is moving in with her.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Wow, For a moment there I thought this post came from Stuart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Yes, ever sice I saw Carlo smoking, I've been more reluctant. Although a fantastic manager and a likeable gentleman,he seem more of a luxury coach, not LFC material IMO

    ReplyDelete
  104. Hmm, Southampton, Sunderland and Man City have all better utilized Lambortelli. BR have strikers but he couldn't get the best out of them.

    ReplyDelete
  105. You heard it from his wife?;)

    ReplyDelete
  106. Not sure it's really the ticket to blame BR for the amounts we offer, don't imagine he's directly involved in those decisions.

    ReplyDelete
  107. That's one hilarious conclusion

    ReplyDelete
  108. By luxury I mean spending money and getting result and the media atrention, not the smoking part;) maybe I wasn't clear, My bad;)

    ReplyDelete
  109. Getting the best out of Balo is simple. Let some other club do it. I've seen 'the Pharoah.' All velocity and no vector...pass.

    ReplyDelete
  110. But that's my point. He's nor immobile. He's a super athlete. He's just to lazy. Just read an interesting Tweet from James pearse that he wasn't even turning up to training half the time

    ReplyDelete
  111. Timing though, if they all went back to those clubs you mention would they do better at present and even if they would it doesn't mean they are cut out for a team of our standing and the resulting pressure to perform it brings.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Emery has had a lot of luck his way.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Ya got it. Its just that..'ever since i saw him smoking..' line was a bit funny..

    ReplyDelete
  114. he was kinda embarassed the moment he noticed the camera's on him;)

    ReplyDelete
  115. Yes they will do better. Borini had a good performance before he came to Liverpool. Then he had a bad first season at Liverpool...he went to Sunderland where he again performed well...came back to Liverpool and is enjoying free wages. He was also BR's signing. I think BR has to be blamed for the form of our strikers and lack of options despite spending good dough.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Now please its about time we get serious: what was the highlight of Aspas's display that got him the trophy last night? I heard he delivered a fabulous corner kick?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Question is..Would Benitez tolerate such transfer decisions from committee if he doesn't rate the player? No. Do we want a manager like Benitez who takes full responsibility and get the players he wants or a yes man like BR?

    ReplyDelete
  118. I would take Rafa back yesterday..

    ReplyDelete
  119. His corner kicks alone are worth 10mn - SAF

    ReplyDelete
  120. Yes..They will because it makes sense $$ wise and on the pitch..I firmly believe that they would have come out and publicly backed Rodgers if they wanted him to stay

    ReplyDelete
  121. give benteke the number 9 an lets lift the league. the whole league absolutely fears this guy. hes so deadly and strong. i remember when he just outpaced Chris Smalling and then just threw him to the ground and then set up Wiemman with inch perfect pass. he so good with the ball at his feet and in the air and he got agility and flair, not like Lambert who is a big statue. Benteke would be good at any club....he can take free-kicks, score headers for fun, strong, quick, work rate and score powerful shots with both feet, and makes good runs and movement. amazing . highly experienced and still only 24. hes scored 3 times against reina and twice against mingolet.

only greats come to anfield and dominate. that day we were sheer favourites with Suarez on form, and benteke got 1 assist(outrageous backheel) and 2 world class goals (one from 25 yards and one where he dribbled pass skrtel held off allen and smashed it past reina)

    ReplyDelete
  122. But that is all circumstantial and supposes that BR has the power to affect such decisions as well as assuming Rafa would have the same powers if given the job.
My assumption is that neither would have or would be given, that amount of influence within the Club.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Except Borini (Roma), Balotelli (Milan) did not come from smaller clubs. Arguably even Lambert came from a rival club ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  124. They're all smaller clubs :)
Even if some of the clubs they came from were on a par with us then they were probably leaving because they didn't make the grade anymore, so why should BR suddenly be able to improve them, and you did mention Sunderland, Soton and Citeh, tiny little clubs compared to us ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  125. Ask Robbie Keane how it would work out if Rafa didnt want you

    ReplyDelete
  126. Rafa has to come back! Cannot see it happening though along with every current player we are currently being linked with!

The Americans need to realise that LFC's value is depreciating under the current B Rod's regime!

Interesting, how people have begun to turn from B Rod! Without Suarez, Liverpool have been pretty lacklustre this season!

Pray for a miracle...if we can win in Istanbul, then there is a chance Liverpool will embrace Rafa once again!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Just not feeling the Benteke love myself, don't see him continuing his form and reaching a higher level.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yohan Cruyff smoked 20 a day, he was the best player in World, he was even known to have a smoke at half time.

    ReplyDelete
  129. The thought of a Rafa return makes me want to throw up. He's still that stubborn, divisive, anti-football manager that was sacked in '09.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Agreed, 100%,
So thats Stevies, Raheem, and Rafa's house for sale,

    ReplyDelete
  131. Like a lot of the F1 drivers - James Hunt et al and they were likely a lot more talented too. Now you look at it - dreary as dishwater.
George best, didn't exactly live the healthy life either and IMO would rival Cruyff; Seems to be the way in a lot of sports now.

    ReplyDelete
  132. El Sharaawy isn't good at all. More waste of money.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I really don't know what would be the best move for our club right now. I've staunchly defended Rodgers for months however judging from the last few games, he seems to have lost the dressing room and while I still believe he's a talented coach, it's hard to regain control of a dressing room if the players have stopped playing for you.
With regards to who should replace him should he go, I wouldn't be opposed to Rafa coming back but I think Klopp fits the current profile of the club and FSG better. Ancellotti, while undoubtedly a top coach, is not used to the kind of project he would have to take on at Liverpool, however like Rafa, I wouldn't be opposed to his appointment. If none of those 3 are available, I think we'd be as well sticking with Rodgers

    ReplyDelete
  134. I don't know if he has lost the dressing room but i suspect a bit of a clear out followed by new players increasing competition and a re-affirmation of BR's position will focus their minds very quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Expect we're on the same page mate, although I'd go with only just missed out on top four rather than mid table.
I find this period each year a time to dream, hope and pray!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Actually to say our value is depreciating could not be further from the truth. FSG have massively increased our commercial value, have paid off all the high interest loans we had under the previous regime, are extending the stadium and there's a record breaking TV deal coming into effect for next season. Liverpool football club has never been worth more money than it is right now

    ReplyDelete
  137. I use to do the same now I'm just depressingly pessimistic.
Most times I hear lfc I only hope for the worst.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Most of Rafa's buys yield a profit. Can't say the same for the transfer commitee.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Not disagreeing with the gist of your comment but I am sure I heard they did not actually pay off the loans but just replaced them with their own loans albeit interest free?

    ReplyDelete
  140. Had that ailment every once in a while myself over the years but I just know the return of the good times, they're a coming man, just got to keep the faith.
FSG will see us right, they've got the track record for doing it elsewhere.

  141. Yea. If they're gonna back BR they need to properly back him. Get rid of who he wants rid of and give him a decent transfer budget

  143. Liverpool and Benitez were made for each other. I will never understand fans who said they thought he should have gone when he did. The nefarious duo, H&G, were destroying the life of the club. Everything was negative. How can Benitez create or maintain anything when there is no foundation. The managers that all followed have failed. A final point, when Benitez was at Valencia he had a poor season where he finished 7th. The following season he came 1st. He is a brilliant manager that toppled the two inexorable spanish giants on a shoestring budget. A great wheeler dealer that has all my respect not only for being a great manager, but a really decent honest bloke. Oh, and finally it was Benitez that alerted all the fans to the H&G BS, so of course they wanted him out and would make his life difficult in the process. FSG are mad not to get Bentiez in, Has always been my number 1 choice, ahead of every manager in the world.

  144. If he is to stay then lets hope that's exactly what happens, seems a more favourable scenario to me than the one where the players almost force him out.
Otherwise what happens when the same players decide their not too keen on the new manger.

  145. Yh That's what we all like to think. But I think the fsg are not from around here and think too much with their heads u know. Some times u get the feeling they are only in it to make money of our sporting reputation and then sell us to the highest bidder. They are not interested in buying the top players hiring the top managers and paying the big salaries u know. I keep having this recurring nightmare that 12 months from now Eddie howe or the bloke at Norwich gets the lfc job after a midtable finish with either their respective clubs and we sell off coutinho ibe and sterling if he's not sold this year with ings and another next English big thing.
They don't strike me like an abromovich or perez who thinks with his heart and will chop and change in search for perfection.
I hope I'm wrong and maybe it's the depressive pessimism talking but I can't shake the feeling u know.

  146. The loans are easily repayable by the club as long as there isn't massive interest payments to be made. The fact they own the club means they could start to recoup that money any time they want, most likely gradually as the club's revenue grows. They also have the power to write it off if they so wanted to. It's a far cry from being forced into administration by the bank

    ReplyDelete
  147. FSG won't sanction a move for Rafa, period. He's an independent thinker and a winner. He will not play ball with the board, and the board know that he will leak his dissent into the media. The board have a strategy which is all about keeping LFC competitive without the need to invest heavily on the field (ala City & Chelsea). It's a strategy which Arsenal have tried (we we can see the success they have had over the past decade!), but which might have worked if FFP was brought in hard. Alas, unless there is a change in plan from the top, we're going to stick with our Brendan, who does not rock the boat inside the club...

i found something wrong when zaf iqbal suddenly left the team.. then injuries just exploded at LFC players recovering from injuries got reinjured (flannagan), players continuously got injured who weren't usually getting injured (lalllana) somethings wrong with LFC and this man BR needs to go

  162. Liverpool FC from an accounting perspective has been doing well from the owners side. However, if the inept manager of team continues to replace quality with substandard equivalent and then proceeds to lose 6-1, then who in their right mind bar us passionate supporters would want to come to Liverpool! With poor results, the league position would be in further disarray!

Champions league football yields greater income and requires a top 4 position!

  165. The ONE QUESTION THAT REMAINS UNANSWERED = Most of the players signed last summer had won player of the Season awards at their respective Clubs etc etcv - so how come B R turned them all into useless duds ??????????? Please Explain

    ReplyDelete
  166. My suspicious mind thinks if Rafa wants to come back to live in Liverpool to be with the family, don't be surprised if he ends up at man city! I suspect BR will be given one more season,

Throw in any of the names Liverpool have been linked with, and players would definately prefer working under them than BRogers.

  171. Madhav Chaudhari5:39 am, May 29, 2015

Moved on?? Chelsi brought back Mourinho, AW is still thre at Arsenal, both Manchester clubs prefer Old monks to manage.. There is no moving on. There is moving in right direction.

And Rafa (anyone but BR) seems to be right direction IMO.

  172. Everybody makes mistakes but only fools repeat them over and over and over again and again and again = B R WONT CHANGE BECAUSE HE CANT = STOKE 6 - POOL 1 POOL1 PALACE 3 -this is what you can now expect next season FSG and if you think signing 2 strikers will solve it your even dafter than B R.We need a BOSS

    ReplyDelete
  173. That's the sad truth. Players are expendable, and if they break down, clubs simply replace them. The players' long-term health just doesn't come into it.

    ReplyDelete
  174. We signed 3 Southampton players, was it a 3-way tie at their awards? :)

    ReplyDelete
  175. Yeah. I hope he's given a chance to recover properly.

    ReplyDelete
  176. sad to say it ray but i've supported BR and will continue as long as he is in charge...credit where credit due...not all of us can head a corporation as big as LFC..takes balls and gumption to stand in front of fans as well as putting a team together and leading them out week after week...
we must also remeber we played terrible, no strikers..amnd still we only missed out by a few points on champs league...just sayin'...

..anyhow, my point, why did i say at the evry beginning 'sad to say it' - because everything was fine with me until i read Sanchez admitting one of the big reasons he joined arse was cos of wenger..apparently he's is a legend! anyway regardless what I think ..many say a manager's pull has little to do with it but truth be told looks like it does...

..so either we have to appoint someone a bit higher with clout to attract players...or the manager better start winning and creating a name for himself.., or hate to say it maybe fsg might deem it necessary to change to one one with bigger name...

..all depends on how much 'yes' they want to hear and how much they want to get away with 'not' buying top players and going for their 'youth development' philosophy instead...in which case BR will stay...

    ReplyDelete
  177. i was one that wanted Rafa to go last time, but now after 5 years I think he has learned how to be a better manager, He wont have the rifts he had with players last time I think he has cooled his ego, but still he can offer a lot more than this incumbent manager we have now.

Lazar was playing decently in portugal.
Lallana was crisp and creative at Southampton.
    Dejan was rock solid.
    Lambert had a fine season.
    Moreno was class act.
    Balotelli was average.

And suddenly they all turned to sh*t.

    That's a miracle called B-Rod

LFC desperately needs to get rid of this moron.

    ReplyDelete
  183. When he had good squad in LFC he was success. When LFC sold key players he lost the ground and was sacked. You can see what he is now doing in Italy with a little bit more then average squad? Nothing special. He is fourth with 25 points behind Juventus.

And what do you think he will do in LFC with average squad and no strikers? Worse then Rodgers.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Tim Sherwood on Benteke

Sherwood has also noted that Liverpool’s number of crosses this season – 409 – is the lowest in the top division. “We cross more balls into the box than any other club in the league and Christian has said that he feeds off crosses,” Sherwood said.

“There’s no point going to a club where they don’t cross the ball."

Carrol mark 2 if Benteke had to join us.

  185. No half decent manager would come to Liverpool while. There is a transfer committee and the club will only spend on 'potential'. Who would allow themselves to be judged on outcomes over which others have control? Only a docile yes man, who we have already. I have never rated Rodgers, even last season. I HAVE always rated Rafa who kept the club punching above its weight in the awful days of Hicks and Gillett and was no yes man - which was why he was sacked

    ReplyDelete
  186. I have always said that Rodgers at least deserves another 6 months based on our 2013/14 season. Many say it was Suarez that did that for us and obviously his play was vital but Rodgers has to be given some credit too.

However I do have some growing concerns that Rodgers is losing some of the dressing room and in desperation is making more strange decisions (very much like Benitez's last season).

Therefore if FSG were to make a change this summer I would have sense of disappointment for Rodgers and the Liverpool way (not constantly changing managers), especially a manager who brought us so close to that elusive 19th title. On the other hand I would also have some understanding of the decision and now instead of that underwhelming feeling of when Rodgers was first appointed, I would hope for a more proven manager again.

Finally on to Benitez, a manager that although his football is not as good to watch you do feel he would at least get us challenging more consistently with the other top teams. My big fear for Benitez though is our youth which is blossoming with emerging talent to which he his often credited with starting. Changing our academy is one thing though, being brave enough to bring them into the first team is another!

    ReplyDelete
  187. Wow I actually agree with you! :)

    ReplyDelete
  188. That's the thing. He may not have gotten the players he wanted, but the players he ended up getting are actually pretty good. Suddenly they all implode (bar Lallana). I don't think he's used this squad optimally, imperfect as it is.
