The rumours linking Ezequiel Lavezzi with Liverpool simply refuse to die, and new reports this week suggest once again that the Reds are close to sealing a deal for the Argentinian attacker.
In October, The Mirror claimed that Liverpool were planning a gigantic £30m January offer for Lavezzi, and according to Friday's Daily Express:
* PSG want to replace Lavezzi - and his huge wages - with Andriy Yarmolenko
* The Argentine attacking is consequently 'heading to Liverpool' in the summer.
It's easy to see Lavezzi's appeal to Rodgers:
* Versatile, and can play as striker, or out wide.
* Works very hard on the field, and is good defensively.
* Has pace, which is always a plus for any attacking player.
Lavezzi is the archetypal Rodgers player, and Argentina boss Alejandro Sabella underlined this last summer, when he highlighted his positive influence. He enthused:
"Players like Lavezzi are always very positive, because they keep players happy. They keep a nice atmosphere in the group. And Lavezzi is an excellent player. He never makes negative comments, and he is always supporting the team."
Creative stats for PSG:
* 27 goals/19 assists in 124 appearances,
* Goal every 4.5 games.
* Goal/assist every 2.6 games.
With Sturridge's susceptibility to injury, it's a priority to have another quality forward player who is seemingly impervious to injury, and Lavezzi - nicknamed 'The Beast' by the Argentina media - certainly fits the bill:
* 312 appearances in the last 7 years.
* Averages 40 games a season.
* Missed only 12 games through injury in the last 10 years.
An enticing record, but PSG reportedly want €19m (£14m) for Lavezzi, which is (arguably) way too much.
Liverpool legend Phil Thompson is a fan of Lavezzi, and in January, he called for the Reds to sign the attacker. He told Sky Sports:
“With Brendan playing Raheem up front on his own, I would like to see an experienced striker come in, like Gonzalo Higuain or Ezequiel Lavezzi. They’ve always been my favoured targets".
If Lavezzi is genuinely 'heading to Liverpool' this summer, then it'll probably be for a smaller fee as I can't imagine FSG sanctioning €19m for a player who turns 30 in a few months.

No he is old.
ReplyDeleteAnd he is not good enough , simple as that.
No end product.
Better off promoting Harry Wilson, Sergi canos or Jerome Sinclair
We should sign :
ReplyDeleteLacazette
Depay
Reus
De Bruyne
Pogba ( Gerrard replacement)
Carvajhl ( if Danilo is joining he might leave)
Marquinhos
Hugo Lloris
let psg keep him and we sign Yarmolenko
ReplyDeleteTeam for Arsenal :
ReplyDelete.......................................Balotelli......Sturridge
.................................................
...........................Coutinho ................................Sterling
......................................................................................
...................................Henderson......Lucas
..............................................................................................
.............................Moreno...Sakho......Can.....Johnson
..................................................Mignolet
433
1) Sturridge floating like Suarez does at Barca will be effective as right now he is isolated , worked last season
2) Let Can play at cb , Lovren is awful
You could make that list this summers reality.Show us your Arab money.Turn back into Sheikh Shamsey and give Liverpool a interest-free £250m loan:)
ReplyDeletewhat about messi, cr7 and hazard?
ReplyDeleteCome on that is just plain unrealistic.
ReplyDeleteMy dream lfc team would be:
ReplyDelete................................Augero
...Sanchez..................Coutinho.............Hazard
...............................Pogba......Can
Moreno............Sakho.........Marquinhos....Azepliecuta
Forgot the goalkeeper
ReplyDeletei would have
David De Gea in goal
Nah Sheik Shamsey
ReplyDeleteis only a small time millionaire
he would rather invest in more important things : )
Do you really believe that Liverpool can get 1 of the above let alone 2 ?
ReplyDeleteWas he not available for 8m last summer ?
ReplyDeleteWe should try .
ReplyDeletethe owners are billionaires
and apparently spend massive fees like 100m on red sock players
Liverpool is the tenth richest club in the world

ReplyDeletejust as much as liverpool signing al the players listed above.
yeah you can have that in fifa
ReplyDeleteSturridge doesnt do levitation
ReplyDeleteNon Starter...thats why it not happened every time he's mentioned... Whoever keeps linking him is just lazy.
ReplyDeleteSturridge just doesn't work hard enough to play as Suarez...
ReplyDeleteNevergonnacrackthecode, why, because even you can't work you out...
ReplyDeleteMeeeeooow!
ReplyDeleteTherapy?
ReplyDeleteWould be a poor signing and from what happened bringing in Lambert I don't see us buying in a 30 year old especially one that doesn't score many goals . Instead of bringin in a player that can play here there and everywhere we need a pure striker who is well capable of banging in 20 plus goals a season . A top holding mid wouldn't go a miss either and a top wing back
ReplyDeleteLavezzi is known as" the beast" and BEAST was actively posting on here . That's why I made my comment - as a joke!
ReplyDeletenice but sadley wont happen
ReplyDeleteHaha. Even you, the epitome of cool, are beginning to get frustrated.
ReplyDeleteJamie, you want another want another Suarez?
