The Dani Alves transfer saga continues! With Glen Johnson almost certainly leaving at the end of the season, and Javier Manquillo out of favour, Liverpool need another right-sided defender, and 'great' Barcelona star Alves is once again being linked with a move to Anfield.
According to The Mirror:
* Seven clubs are to 'make offers' for Alves this summer, including Liverpool and Manchester United.
* Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, and Inter Milan are also interested in the coveted Brazilian.
The story so far:
* Mar 2012: In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Rafa Benitez revealed: "Daniel Alves was our first option on the right side. The problem that we had was that I had to decide to bring Alves as a winger when he was an offensive full-back"
* May 2014: The Telegraph claimed that Liverpool were considering a bid for Alves.
* Sep 2014: A statement on the official Barca website confirmed Alves' departure: "We are delighted that Dani is here, and with the performance he has provided for the club. Both sides have reached an agreement though that his contract will end in 2015"
* Oct 2014: Alves himself confirmed his Nou Camp exit: “Next year I'm moving to England. I'm going to play at the home of football. This will be my last season at Barcelona.”
* Dec 2014: The Daily Express claimed that Brendan Rodgers wanted sign Alves on a 'short-term deal'.
* Mar 2015: Reports in Spain claimed that Glen Johnson is being 'released' to make room for Alves.
So, Alves is definitely coming to England, which means Liverpool will almost certainly have a chance to compete for his signature. His agent, Dinorah Santana also confirmed this month that a deal with an unnamed club is close to being completed. She told reporters:
"We are close to signing with another club, we are in advanced conversations."
Could the club possible be Liverpool? In my view, it's doubtful. The Reds are in good form this year, but if Chelsea or Arsenal come calling then it's probably game over.
Additionally, for the elite of the European game, Anfield is not a prestige destination, and it's unlikely that Alves will go from Barcelona to Liverpool...
Unless, of course, LFC offer him an obscene amount of money, in which case, he'll probably sign without hesitation, claiming that Anfield was his first-choice, and he's attracted by the club's history etc.
Is Alves a significant *defensive* upgrade on Johnson, though? Offensively, he's a definite upgrade, but I don't see the wisdom in replacing a 30-year old defender on a massive salary for another expensive, older defender who'll probably demand an even bigger chunk of change.
Indeed, according to reports in February, Manchester United have offered Alves a €21m salary package to sign for the club, which Liverpool cannot - and should not - match.

So this we have been linked with :
ReplyDeleteFalcao , Mata , Chech , Turan now Alves
FSG might as well call Lfc
Liverpool OAP center
20-25
anything below or over is a no-no,
Why don't Lfc actually sign genuine lfc guys ?
ReplyDeletePlayers like Hyppia when he joined a real LFC fan even Bellamy or Jari Litmanen. they do not see lfc as a stepping stone like boyhood manc Sterling.
Schniederlin,Kjaer and De Bruyne ,Will Hughes all admit to being Lfc supporters as kids.
sell Henderson,Sterling two guys who do not acre about lfc but the £ sign. ,
buy lfc fans De Bruyne and Schniderlin and Hughes.
So if we include the three boyhood Lfc fans in midfield we get:
ReplyDelete........................De Bruyne...................Coutinho ....................Ibe
..................................................Hughes....Schniderlin
looks good to me.
I want lfc fans playing for lfc .
Give me Jay Spearing over boyhood manc Sterling every day.
No player should even be considered unless they have a Liver bird tattooed on their left buttock
ReplyDeleteI am the most passionate lfc fan in the world .
ReplyDeleteAnd i do not have tattoos.
Sterling and Joe Allen are boyhood man united fans .
I can understand everton like Carragher , Fowler
But Man united way too far
No wonder Sterling is treating us like he is .
He wants a 110k raise when he only performed for less then half the contract he has already finished
And they're prepared to play for a fish supper and their bus fare home
ReplyDeleteSorry you will never play for Liverpool as long as I'm in charge[
ReplyDeleteIs that not what football is all about .
ReplyDeletehaving guys you can relate to .
Players like Gerrard who love the club.
Is that the multi millionaire Gerrard?
ReplyDeleteWhy did you have to return? Sigh, more horrific grammar, incredibly ridiculous career mode esque suggestions and vague reasoning from a 12 year old. Sure you're a wind up.
ReplyDeleteI can't deal with this idiocy.
ReplyDeleteIt's no good focussing on his good points
ReplyDeleteYou know there is something magical called a rumour. There is a whole wide world out there.
ReplyDeleteHe could have earn way more elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteFor example Chelsea or Real Madrid.
Plus he gives a lot back, for example he gave 1m to lfc foundation.s
Because there isn't any.
ReplyDeleteJay Spearing over Sterling.Someone clearly forgot to take their medication.
ReplyDelete***Warning*** Nobody can play for LFC without giving up their wages and having our crest tatooed.
ReplyDeleteI missed you man. : )
ReplyDeleteBelieve me I do not feel the same.
ReplyDeleteJK is going to have sore fihgers
ReplyDeleteSo you do not want players like Harry Kane who is doing Spurs fans proud .
ReplyDeleteA boyhood spurs fan.
If we can sign top players like de Bruyne who actually support the club , why not?
i am sick of Sterling taking the club and the fans for fools.
I think he likes me.
ReplyDeleteI make the comment section a bit more interesting, without breaking any rules.
Without me it was mainly Orme talking to himself : : ).
.
"Like" does not even feature in his vocabulary
ReplyDeleteSterling is a a guy who does not like Liverpool and only uses us as a stepping stone.
ReplyDeleteAre you alright with that?
Lying is bad.
ReplyDeleteWow i thought you all missed me .
ReplyDeleteWhen i was gone all you guys did was talk about me,
now that i am back i have got some hostile responses.
The thing is i had to come back. With Gerrard leaving and all , i thought two unbelievable legends leavingis one too many , and i did not think you guys were ready for it.
Just reading about Pako Ayestaran doing well managing in Israel in the Echo. Off topic but maybe contender for future role at club?
ReplyDeleteRaheem Sterling is negotiating hard over a new contract. That doesn't means he does not like Liverpool and he's using us a stepping stone.
ReplyDeleteYou reading too much into this.Calm down and have a drink.
I want to do what Real are doing with Zidane.
ReplyDeleteGet Gerrard coaching reserves then assistant , then first team.
I think both LFC and Gerrard could benefit from some time apart for developmental reasons.
ReplyDeleteMate he is not negotiating any more . Talks are over, even Rodgers said.
ReplyDeleteThey will resume in the summer.Relax!
ReplyDeleteyeah his two years in LA.
ReplyDeletethen he can come here.
It will be nice if he raises his profile there, in 20 years time America will be one of the top soccer countries in the world.
The game is increasing in popularity every day there. They have Lampard,Kaka,Villa ,Gerrard next year.
Once America set their mind on something they do it,
Look why can he not do it like Coutinho.
ReplyDeleteHe is only 20 , if he has two Owen-esque years he will earn that 200k in a while.
It is obvious he is leaving, and making sure lfc sell him by annoying them.
He's not old enough to drink...
ReplyDeleteIf your so confident he's off.Put the house, car and all the money in your bank account on it.You'll make a fortune.
ReplyDelete......................................Key dates
ReplyDeleteJanuary 2013 : Sterling sign new contract , a 40k , which is unprecedented for young players at lfc.
December 2013 : Sterling has his first good game in 11 months vs Spurs
May 2014: Sterling rounds off a decent second half of season ,with a great performance vs Nowrich, however most of his goals were tap ins from Suarze
Augaust 2014 Sterling has a good month
September- December 2014 : Sterling fails to inspire
January 2015 - Sterling has a decent month
Febyary 2015,March 2015 - Sterling underperforms again
SO THROUGHOUT MOST OF HIS CURRENT CONTRACT HE HAS UNDER PERFORMED , AND HE HAS THE NERVE TO ASK FOR A PAY RISE? A 110 K PAY RISE?
Nobody likes you. You're the most annoying and clueless person in this.forum.
ReplyDeletePossibly the only thing close go being true you have said today.
ReplyDeleteHe has outperformed numerous people on far more money than he is getting. As hard as it is to accept I can't see anyone would rather Gerrard be in the team than Sterling. Sturridge is on big money and he is always injured. Johnson can't get a game. Is it fair that Balotelli is on more than double what Raheem is on? And your timeliness is just nonsense.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's saying something...
