Liverpool are currently linked with an ludicrous summer move for perpetual sicknote Theo Walcott, and according to Reds legend Jamie Carragher, the Arsenal star is the ideal signing for LFC.
According to The Independent this week:
"Liverpool have made enquiries about his [Walcott's] availability. With Sterling stalling on a new deal...Rodgers has already begun to form a Plan B".
Reacting to the news, Carra confirmed that Liverpool have 'looked at' signing 'exceptional' Walcott in the past, and insisted that he'd be good signing for the Reds. He told Sky Sports:
“If he [Walcott] was available then I’m sure any Liverpool fan, player or manager would love to see him at the club"
Sorry, Carra, but you're wrong: I'm sure there are lots of Liverpool fans who have serious reservations about Walcott, mainly due to his absolutely horrific injury history, which is worth highlighting once again:
* 15 separate injuries since 2008
* 646 days on the sidelines as a result.
* 128 games missed as a result of injury. 128 games!
* An average of 21 missed-games a season for the last 6 years.
On a separate note, Liverpool's alleged interest doesn't make sense for another reason: Walcott - whose current deal is worth £21m over 3.5 years - is pulling a Sterling at Arsenal and trying to fleece the club for money he doesn't deserve. The Independent reports:
"Walcott [is] looking for a significant increase on his £90,000-a-week wages. [He] wants a wage packet worth considerably more than £100,000-a-week to put him in the region of the club’s highest earners".
Gah! This kind of presumptuous, arrogant entitlement is a defining characteristic of modern footballers, and it's supremely irritating. What gives Walcott the right to demand 'considerably more than £100K a week' when he misses close to 50% of every season through injury?
Arsenal should be paying him *less*, not more; or, at the very least, there should be clauses in his contract stipulating he gets paid only 50% of his contract value when he (inevitably) gets injured again.
Footballers are totally out of touch with the real world. If you or I missed 21 months of work over a 5-year period, we'd be laughed out of office for demanding a massive pay-rise (if we hadn't already been fired for endless absences).
It's ridiculous, and what's even more ludicrous is the idea that Liverpool will swap one mercenary for another. Talk about 'out of the frying pan and into the fire'.
Once again: avoid like the plague.

Walcott's better than lallana, borini, balotelli, lambert put together. Sell 'em all and sign him up!
ReplyDeleteAfter his knee injury there is a chance he will never be the same player therefore I wouldn't sign him
ReplyDeleteGo and take your medication.
ReplyDeleteYeah its one thing to be available and not play well. But always injured to add to Sturridge, I don't think so. Buy players who are always there. If they are injured they are as useful as me to the team. Plus a pay raise, really? Walcott hasn't gotten any better at Arsenal and how can he when he never plays. No way
ReplyDelete33% as of now voters actually want a player who gets paid obscene money to spend his time on the sick bed and not in the ball park. Get serious.
ReplyDeleteThis will just be a story to put the wind up Sterling's agent
ReplyDeleteIf Remy failed a Liverpool medical, how are all these sicknote , invalides going to make it ???
ReplyDeleteLets hope it works ,because Walcott demands are just as ridiculous
ReplyDeleteI think the point is 33% of Liverpool fans are getting sick of Sterling ongoing behaviour
ReplyDeleteI reckon it would not be a bad idea. My only concern is what will the price tag be? If Sterling does not want to sign a new deal then he must go as he is not a true scouser, as Shankly said it is a priverlidge to play for this football club. In my opinion Liverpool should sell Sterling(50m) , Borini(15m), Balotelli (15m) , Lucas(12m), Luis Alberto(5m) , Iago Aspas(5m), Coates(5m), llori (5m), lambert(3m) = 115m plus if we do qualify for Champions league the board will allocate atleast 50m = 165 m. Players in Theo Walcott (20m assuming) , James Milner(free) , Benzema(35m try make a swap Sterling+ 15m) , Micah Richards (8m) , Papadopelous (7m) , Charlie Austin (15m) , Konoplyanka or YarmoLenko(20m). Lars Bender(25m estimate), Jack Wilshere(20m), Handanovic (10m) = 160m. (All my players values are from different articles). ....Our squad will look something like Goalkeepers. ..............................,,,,,,,,,,,,Mignolet / Handanovic.................................................... .. .....................................................Defenders. .Richards/Manquillo...Can/Lovren...Skrtle/Papadopelous...Sakho...Moreno/Flanagan .....................................................Midfielders. ........................Hendo/Milner...Allen/Wilshere...Lars Bender........................................ .....................................................Forwards. Walcott/Ibe/Markovic..................................Coutinho/ Lallana/ Konoplyanka............... ...................................Benzema/Austin...Sturridge/Origi........................................ .Please could you fellow scouser tell me what you think of my Squad?
ReplyDeleteNo walcot on big wages mite aswell give sterlin wat he wants then no lets sign veito and jaun cazeres
ReplyDeleteBenzima is only player id have in your line up austin not good enuf walcot sik note not a good squad there
ReplyDeleteFelipe Anderson of lazio looks real deal to me.
ReplyDeleteWe are never going to sign Walcott that's for sure.
BAD NEWS, for all the Felipe Anderson fans , he has just signed a new deal with Lazio
ReplyDeleteRodgers believes in the players resting so might be worth a bash. (Less injuries may occur). Arsenal suffers the most injuries in the premier league year in year out, it's gotta tell you something.Still Bearing in mind when they first came onto the scene Walcott and Wilshere were tipped by Lots of tabloids to be Future England greats.I mean Walcotts only 26 and Wilshere 23. If they come to liverpool and they still injury prone, they will still have resale value because of their age and they are English. Charlie Austin has scored 15 goals this season and has 3 assists in a team the seems destined for relegation.that is very rare. I reckon it could be a total bargain as he is English and only 25. If Qpr get relegated we might get him for 10m. Charlie Austin has scored more goals in the premier league than all the players bought by Liverpool over the summer combined. I just read now Konoplyanka's contract ends in the summer so we will get him for free. That is a no brainer he is valued at 20m and is young and plays very similar to Coutinho. Nothing wrong with getting a Coutinho for free and has low wages. I watched a Florientina game couple weeks back and watch Micah Richards . He is a very good RWB and will suit Roders formation when playing with wing backs. Same concept for 8m because it f his age if he does not impress we will recoup nearly all our money back.
ReplyDeleteBy giving Sterling his wage demands we are saying certain players are bigger than the club. By trading Sterling to Real Madrid we might end up getting Benzema. Konoplyanka in the summer is a free agent so we could get a world class striker and a talented young winger for Sterling. Might need not be the worst idea.
ReplyDeleteAnother RB that I reckon could suit I style of play is Kyle Walker.
ReplyDeleteWhat iam sayn is if lfc goin to buy walcott for 20 to,25 ad muted an he is demandn increas in his gunners contract how much wages wud lfc have to pay a player that is most of tme injured dont mke sence and he is 27 so no sell on value thats how come i said mite as well giv sterlin what he wants put a huge buy out clause in contract
ReplyDeleteKonoplyanko dont think his good enuff even on a free id rather he try one of our under 21PLAYERS harry willson we have ibe we have sinclair we cud use dem wages pay for veito. Or firmino players tht can play along the front 3
ReplyDeleteWhat behaviour would that be?
ReplyDeleteShow me an example of his bad behaviour please.
There was a time when I would get excited to hear us being linked to Walcott. But time has passed and since the additions of the new and potential youth players that we have available such as Sterling, Ibe Wilson and Sinclair my interest in Walcott has waned. Not going to even mention his injury record. Ok I just did.
ReplyDeleteYea I'm scrambling to thing of such behaviour also. Unfortunately some get really emotional about pointless news articles.
ReplyDeleteHe good but not that good fella
ReplyDeleteEveryone seems to be in a hurry to sell Sterling, ask yourself if you want him in the team today?
ReplyDeleteHis CONTRACT
ReplyDeleteEven if liverpool won the premier leauge wich they never will players like benzema still woudnt even come to your club sorry lads just keep yalkin about the past ok lol
ReplyDeleteWell technically, if you had a player with balotelli's footballing ability, borini's pressing and stamina, lamberts passion and lallanas hunger to succeed, then I'm sure that is better than Walcott(!)
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell's wrong with carra suggesting to sign Walcott and James mc Carthy, James had his couple of chance to sign but he choose not to and Walcott is no better than Sturridge, anyway both won't take Liverpool go another level
ReplyDeleteKonoplyanka this season 5 goals 2 assists in 12 games and he is not good enough. Plus he already is a favorite with lfc fans as his performance knocked Everton out the Europa cup.
ReplyDeleteSterling is making a statement by not signing an extension , showing that he wants to move on. No point in having a player who does not want to be there and in 2yrs lose him on a free transfer.
ReplyDelete5 goals 2 assists in wa leaugue no his not good enuf and wer is everton in the pl. He is not good enuf we have players can play there if u goin to buy a wide man he has to be better than wat u have alredy he aint no more of dem players we hav a few alredy
ReplyDeleteI think he's waiting to see if we do or don't qualify for the CL as that would be another get out of the club argument for him. He's off to Man City, I've no doubt, the deals probably already done. They need to rebuild their aging squad and need homegrown players, we need to pay for a stadium development and Ibe is coming through. Think of the money he's lost this year by not signing the extension?
ReplyDeleteOther teams will need players too, so any deals to get top talent will require swift negotiation. Chelsea will need to be looking at replacing defenders and need a striker as backup to Costa, so if the likes of Benzema becomes available, we will be competing with them and maybe Arsenal (if Wenger can use the french connection). Other teams can buy the finished article while it seems we are in bargain/ potential market.
