What is the biggest transfer mistake of 2014? The predictable answer is Mario Balotelli, but according to Liverpool legend Steve Nicol, one of LFC's current transfer targets is the worst transfer of the year.
When asked the question this week, Nicol dismissed the idea that Balotelli is 2014's biggest transfer dud, and made a surprise choice for his flop of the year. He told on ESPN:
"Worst transfer of 2014? I'd go for Yohann Cabaye at Paris St. Germain. He cost £26m with add-ons, and he doesn't get a game".
Cabaye has 1 goal/0 assists in 17 appearances for PSG this season, which is pretty poor, but unlike Balotelli, he hasn't had a run of games, so it's obviously difficuly for him to build up a rhythm and rapport with his team-mates.
Despite Cabaye's under-performance at PSG, Reds legend Jan Molby insists he'd be a great signing for Liverpool, and in November, he urged Brendan Rodgers to sign the ex-Newcastle midfielder:
"If Yohan Cabaye is available, then Liverpool must seriously consider signing him. The club needs to think about a long lasting solution [to Gerrard]"
Cabaye - hailed as 'World class' by Newcastle boss Alan Pardew - seems to be open to a move. Indeed, in a recent interview with L'Equipe, he revealed his frustration with life at PSG:
"To be honest, I am unhappy. This [being on the bench] is new ground for me and the only thing for me to do is to show what I can do. I'm 28; I'm not just starting out. I will not change my style of play now"
In November, I conducted a poll on the site asking if Liverpool should sign Cabaye:
* 9730 people (approx) participated in the polls (which is still ongoing)
* 79% of participants voted YES to signing Cabaye.
If Liverpool really pushed, the deal could probably be sealed, but is Cabaye the answer? He's already admitted that he's unhappy, and things seem to be going from bad to worse at PSG.
Cabaye is 29 in a couple of months, though, and it seems to me like Liverpool may have missed the boat on this particular signing. How many great years will the club get out of him, and if the fee is over €20m (which it's probably likely to be) is it really worth it?
As for the worst signing of 2014: When it comes to negligible value for money, Luke Shaw for £28m has got to be up there. So far, he's made only seven starts for Man Utd, and he's currently on his second injury of the season.
At least Balotelli only cost £16m.

Good player, but is he really what we need in our current position? He can pick a pass, but in my opinion doesn't have the athleticism or physicality that our midfield needs. I'd rather cope with the midfield we have until the perfect Gerrard replacement surfaces and buy a striker and goalkeeper in January.
ReplyDeletewe definitely need this to replace gerrard if rodgers had the guts to drop his landlord.... gerrard is the problem he ruins the balance of the team should only be used as impact player we should try Lucas and Can in midfield role

Rodgers latest comments on Emre Can
ReplyDeleteSpeaking to journalists at Melwood, the manager said: "He played centre-half in one of the games I took in last year when I went to see him. He played there in a 4-2-3-1.
"His favoured position is more of a defensive player, even though I've played him in an attacking role because I think that's something he can do more of. But if you asked him his profile, he likes to be in that sitting role where he can play and dictate the game as well as be physical in the challenge and duels.
Proof that Rodgers would have had to take time to go and watch the players that were signed this season. I have been saying for a while now that Can should be played as our deepest midfielder. He is built like a tank, has an eye for a pass and has more than enough pace to avoid being run over unlike Gerrard and Lucas.
I agree that he doesnt fill our first need in midfield but he would improve it. He'd be an upgrade on Lucas and Allen. So for me he would defintely be a summer target but we may be too late by then. That said, he's not that special.
ReplyDeleteAnd he can carry the ball further forward the field if he has the space (not to mention his technical ability which could help us play at a faster pace from behind)
ReplyDeletei think my teams better
ReplyDeleteCan is my favourite signing of the season. Reckon he will have a long career at Anfield.
ReplyDeleteCoutinho does not fit the number 10 profile and Balotelli is useless as a lone striker as has been shown on every occasion he has played there for us.
ReplyDeleteI thought I saw somewhere (probably here) that he preferred to play more forward
ReplyDeleteHis very first LFC interview he stated he prefers central midfield and I fully agree that is where he should be played.
ReplyDeleteI would much rather spend the money on someone like Lars Bender.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the elephant in the room is that the TWO holding Midfielders should be Can and Lucas.
ReplyDeleteWhich is means that Gerrard should be in the BENCH.
However, because we've been playing so poorly and because Rogers has weakened his position and authority he can't drop Gerrard.
When a player FEELS that he's bigger than the Manager you have a recipe for disaster.
dont bank on it with the rodgers running the show we will probably loan him out
ReplyDeleteI believe we had more than good enuf (top 4th) squad ! It just we yet to find a formula to gel them up ! Half of season gone and our mgr still adjusting the formation is BAD ! This should do while pre-season frendly ! So i really wonder if we give $ to buy again, does our mgr n co know what their want?
ReplyDeleteThink it will be Lucas who goes in January more than any of our other midfielders.
ReplyDeletethats more or less the set id like logan ..as you could bring balo or lamabert on for one of the front two to mix it up i also think lovren/skirtal would look a lot better with can sat in front of them as he could sit back in a 3 which would allow the fullbacks to get forward ....but its all mash potatoes if your manger just draws straws and is an advocate of the non tackling non running quarter back role
ReplyDeleteWho are we going to attract with being
ReplyDelete1. Mid table
and
2. Brendan Rodgers as manager
We will just be signing bench warmers. FSG are not going to be making any more money available this season.
if Lucas goes that should be enough rodgers needs to asap
ReplyDeletewe have had our chance and blew it,we had a war chest and the offer of cl football and a feel good factor all them variables have gone
ReplyDeleteToure IMO should be starting ahead of Skrtel. He still has loads of pace and does not panic/have brain farts most of the time. Toure and Sakho will get along as a CB pair just fine.
ReplyDeleteLucas to Inter on loan is being reported just about every day now and Lucas has made it clear that he will have no issue with leaving.
ReplyDeletethis has been brewing for a while , i started to get uncomfortable when it was mooted that carra and Gerard along with rodgers where sitting down and saying who was or was not good enough in the Liverpool squad ,im not sure of the validity of this but if true would mean that gerrad is in fact picking the squad or at the very least having a massive influence and is unlikely to cast a vote against his close friends or allies over players he may not quite get on with .
ReplyDeleteBloody hell man you are on an absolute Brendan Rodgers witch-hunt.
ReplyDeleteanyone who suggest that rodgers has no input in signings is living in gaga land in what reality does a buisness spend millions on stock that the store or manager has no use for
ReplyDeleteLucas has a different role so how do you compare
ReplyDeletea witchunt is when an innocent person is castigated ..we are now 3 seasons in, 200m spent and struggling against clubs like qpr and stoke
ReplyDeleteHe has to acept them signings when the club reject his ideas , basically choose from a bad bunch
ReplyDeleteIs it Rodgers fault Suarez went to Barcaloena or Sturridge suffered thigh injuries ?
ReplyDeleteBut what if some of those innocent women actually were witches ;)
ReplyDeleteIf Arsenal lost Sanchez and Ramsey they would struggle
ReplyDeleteIf man utd lost Rooney and Van Persie
If Chelsea lost Costa and Hazard
if City lost Augero and Yaya
do you mean like 99% of the other mangers do ,do you think big sam or koeman just get any player they want ...its called having a contingency plan
ReplyDeleteThen why not play him as the deepest midfield player, in front of the centre backs, whether it's a back three or four ? We are crying out for this type of player to provide defensive solidity, we signed him, he's fit, he's in most match-day squads and still he doesn't get a run of games ! By now he should be a fixture in the team. He would allow the rest of the defence to gain some cohesion and work as a back six. They need relationships developed and confidence shown in them, not criticism.
ReplyDeleteMignolet
Flanagan, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno
Can
Then get on with finding a keeper (Cech) and a striker (Bony or Benteke).
utd have a boat load of players out and arsenal have had there fair share on injuries ..we have one first team player injured in sturridge your argument is a massive fail m8
ReplyDeleteLallana on the left Coutinho A.M Hendo on the right Balotelli up front instead of Markovic.
ReplyDeletewell if they where they could just fly off on there broom or turn there assailants into frogs
ReplyDeletei think the main point is greg is that we have the players to mix it up if needed or if a player is injured
ReplyDeleteFair enough.
ReplyDeleteYeah that's why I said not our priority
ReplyDeleteBecause Cabaye actually has an impact on games. Just because we play Lucas as a DM it doesnt mean he is one. They're both central midfielders.
ReplyDeleteOver £200m spent in 3 seasons and we are mid table this season. Rodgers can count himself lucky he still has a job.
ReplyDeleteFabian Delph would be a great addition to the midfield. He has good athleticism, fast and powerful.
ReplyDeleteDefo liking the rumours with the club being linked with him this morning
Forget midfielders we need to spend what money we have (which imo won't be a lot) on a decent keeper which can give our flapping defence a bit of confidence
ReplyDeleteI am going all pace and mobility. Markovic and Sterling up top will cause loads of problems for defenders and Markovic links up well with players around him. The one thing you get from Lallana is he is very quick on the turn and his control is also very good. Coutinho's decision making at times is woeful but is a very good dribbler. Lallana bit more adept in the decision making department so the reason why I would have him at no 10..
ReplyDeleteu rite and if i were owner i wont splash $ ! BR has to sell b4 u buy
ReplyDeleteI am a big believer Coutinhos only spot is number 10 he doesnt defend well and Lallana tends to think he is more suited to a deeper role.
ReplyDeleteNot sure Markovic is suited up front but it doesnt hurt to try.
But what is going to sell before buying make any difference. The players we buy will have to be better than those we sell and with us being mid table and have Rodgers as manager we are on a road to nowhere when it comes to attracting top players.
ReplyDeleteIt does make a difference shifting deadwood for others to come in who may make a difference.
ReplyDeleteI wont speculate on who we will or wont get but there is a lot of players who could make a difference right now.
What selling Balotelli at a loss and signing who exactly for the money we get from his sale? Nobody is going to pay us anywhere near £16m. So let say we get £8m who are we going to buy with that?
ReplyDeleteFSG most definitely will not be interested in making a loss and then having to add more cash on top of that to sign another bench warmer.
I think with Logan's team you have Coutinho with a touch more prtection in Manquillo as he doesn't get forward as much as Moreno. Also with Can's greater pace and energy he could be putting out fires. Having Coutinho being able to brake defenses with passes from deep with the two runners at the top is one of the things that made us so good last year and the end of 12/13.
ReplyDeleteBorini could be sold gets bugger all game time does nothing could look to sell some loanees whether now or seasons end.
ReplyDeleteI would put Allen and Lovren on the market and Mignolet therefore getting a new mid and a keeper maybe a forward too depending on what is spent.
I am of the opinion that it is far more complicated than we know. The players signed indicate that. And supermarkets get stock they have to try to sell all the time. They will get a shipment and and email. I worked in a supermarket during my uni days.
ReplyDeleteLovren will also go at a loss. Nobody is going to pay £20m for him. That is why I say, FSG ain't going to make more available as our current bench warmers will just make way for new bench warmers and hemorrhage the wage bill even further.
ReplyDeleteWell not really no Lallana prefers c.m role but am happy to have him on the left i think Balotelli needs a run with 2 up front lets see what he can really do.
ReplyDeleteSay a report saying a swap for Borini with Onazi could be done. But then we are like linked with around 30 potential signings and likely to end up with none
ReplyDeleteKoaman worked with Pelle beforehand and Tadic was top assists in the dutch league and it would be no surprise if he was also his choice. They are his Allen and Borini. I can see why he would have more choice and Rodgers less.
ReplyDeleteTheres a point Gene.
ReplyDeleteIt's an assumption that we will have to sell before we buy. There is nothing concrete in it at all.
ReplyDeleteThing is Logan is Lovren gunna turn it around big time or do we cut our losses on wages and put him on the market for say 12 mill.
ReplyDeleteThere is no point in keeping players who are always going to be trash.
I am not assuming anything. We shall see if FSG make more money available this season :-)
ReplyDeleteLovrren may just need another partner other than Skrtel. I would rather still see if he can perform beside someone else than make a loss on him so soon.
ReplyDeleteI dont care if he plays alongside Silva or the like too many individual errors for my liking.
ReplyDeleteIs certainly not the defensive leader we were looking for and Sakho is way better.
Mate, I think it is time Skrtel gets the boot along with Gerrard. Already we are seeing a difference without Johnson involved in defence, take out Skrtel and I can guarantee we will start conceding less and keep more clean sheets.
ReplyDeleteI agree i dislike Skrtel too and i hope he is gone seasons end also we need a less error prone defender who will lead and attack the ball not just the player at set pieces.
ReplyDeleteNo your team has the weakest midfield, definitely no. Sorry if I missed any sarcasm but no way. We would never keep the ball. Right now looking at the players we have I really don't know who is the best team, but Gerard regardless of age will still get in ahead of the others. Loganlfc has the better team
ReplyDeleteIf your not assuming you are going off someone else's assumption.
ReplyDeleteBig fish in a small pond. Joe Allen V2
ReplyDeleteSpot on.
ReplyDeleteIndeed but which store manager asks for stock he doesn't want?
ReplyDeleteAlso if the stock is imposed on him, who is doing the imposing?
All this leads back to my point which is the transfer committee needs to be changed.
We don't need 2 holding mids fir most games - Real/Bayern etc away yes, not Burnley. We need 1 quality holding mid and a box to box with ability to run the game and dictate proceedings like Fabregas/Pogba.
ReplyDeleteOnly Anchelotti gets the players he wants but even then, he has others sold whom he wants to keep
ReplyDeleteCorrect, until Rafa blunted his attacking instincts, Lucas was (is?) Brazil's youngest Bola de Ouro (Golden Ball) winner, an accolade awarded based on his attack-minded game. Now, he's a shadow of the player he might have become.
ReplyDeleteNot often we agree on everything Jaimie but can't really argue with any of that
ReplyDeleteExactly. They are top end players so he can't really argue but when the players are not your choice and are "affordable" well thats not so good.
ReplyDeleteYeah i would have to agree with Jaimie on this too. I feel dirty now,
ReplyDeleteI agree. He has the potential to be a Patrick Viera type player I reckon
ReplyDeleteIt's not about players out more important players being out. Your goal scorers being out blunts your attack.
ReplyDeleteHaha that made me laugh
ReplyDeleteBony's physio released pic of him in cryochamber- he looks like he's being cooked. Hope Sakho can do the business for us again
ReplyDeletei think sako stacks up well against bony who isnt the most mobile of players...................just hope this doesnt come back to haunt me
ReplyDeletei agree greg if they are not up to it lets ship em out
ReplyDeletethe problem lovren has is he can apparently only play one side like sako ....so its straight choice between lovren and sako ,reading between the lines its suggested lovren and gerrard had a spat so with the power stevie wields its adios lovren which to be honest im glad about because i think sako is the better defender
ReplyDeletetrust me jay jay when you are working to tight margins the last thing you want to do is write off stock......anyway enough of the supermarket analogies i prefer the female ones
ReplyDeleteTotenham and manu did it for us, and I think West Ham won't lose today either.. A must win tomorrow ..
ReplyDeleteWe should ahve signed Mane and Tadic ,Alderweild , Betrand
ReplyDeletewhy do our scouts not find these players
and Wanyama the year before
bring in Southampton scouts
I was having a similar thought. Hard to say who is just
ReplyDeletea flash in the pan or not (we've seen plenty of them over the years) but they do on this evidence seem to have bagged some bargains. We had been linked with Alderweild before he went to Madrid. We were also linked with Wanyama at some point too. Both have certainly been watched by Liverpool many times.
A must win anyway as you say but like your alluding to their will be plenty of twists and turns. Have you seen the fixtures coming up for those we could consider top four rivals? We have an easier (on paper) run before Sturridge will be back.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think they are legitimate top 4 contenders
ReplyDeleteA good solid goalkeeper
two pacey solid fullbacks Clyne and Betrand
Disciplined holding mids Wanyama Scniederlin
Creative attackers Mane Tadic
they just lack a top striker but that is not holding them back so far
its no use owning a gun if you cant load it ......the problem we have is it seems we cant get the players we buy to perform ,who is to blame rodgers ,the backroom staff i dont know, The reality is that we could of signed all these players and there is a good chance they would flop at anfield
ReplyDeleteNo and that striker has bagged a few this season. Started quite well. Mane is looking good just as Pelle started to wain.
ReplyDeleteYeah they have a decent spine to the team.
Thats a good point but he did get the best out of most of them last year. It's hard to say what he is doing differently this year.
ReplyDeleteTadic and Mane
ReplyDeleteahve the right build , have the right stats to show they score goals or assists regularly
Markovic and Lallana
Markovic has no skill limited strength , whiel Lallanas pace is a real problem for him
One Tadic =Lallana + Markovic
One Mane = Lallana +Markovic
Tadic+mane = Two Lallana + Two Markovic
for 3om less as well
The signings are not good enough in the first place
ReplyDeletei was mulling over this and did he, if im honest imo sterling Suarez and sturridge where superb ......hendo played his best yet but was anyone else really that good
ReplyDeleteYes I did, just yesterday discussed it with Gene.. Swansea is actually one of the toughest opponents, but we are home... Our whole Jan is winnable, but some rotation will be needed with two cups.. First big match for us is Everton in Feb(day after my birthday, damn!) and if we are on a streak by than and Daniel starts hitting the net and stays injury free... We still have a very good squad if lined up and rotated properly. The title race is far but that might be a blessing in disguise for us to win some trophies that count..
ReplyDeleteCoutinho ,Flanagan ,Skrtel
ReplyDeleteMarkovic has lots of skill.
ReplyDeletetino was okay in patches but for me flanno and skirtal where nothing special
ReplyDeleteI just seen a lot of pace
ReplyDeleteif he has skill needs to show it better
i really hope Rodgesr moves him closer to goal
YES !
ReplyDeleteEden hazard scores
Sterling was brilliant second half of the season. Cout was Cout on and off. Flanno was brilliant, Gerard had his best season for a while. So like half the team.
ReplyDeleteMarkiovic will be one hell of a player.. Lallana is also very skillful and has more pace than even Hendo- just play them at their positions..
ReplyDeleteHope you are right
ReplyDeleteFlanno played at the highest level I can imagine Flanno playing. He is not a great player but played well more often than not.
ReplyDeleteGood points mate. Never say die!
ReplyDeleteFlanno is excatly what we need. All clubs have one full back that is good going forward and another that you can't get past. He loves the club and will burn in every match he plays, just hope he recovers soon. Do you know when is he coming back?
ReplyDeleteToday is a weird day
ReplyDeletei was cheering for utd to draw with spurs
cheering chelsea to beat southapton
arsenal to draw with west ham
and everton to beat newcastle
so when we win teh league will look liek this
4) Southmapyon 32
5) West ham 32
6) Arsenal 31
7) Spurs 31
8) Swansea 28
9) Liverpool 28
sow e will be 4 points off 4th with maybe Origi and Sturridge coming abck soon
Wondered why you celebrated that then remembered the table.
ReplyDeletemaybe i perceive things different our defence was woeful imo last year and flanno was part of it add to that he added nothing to the attack and its hard for me to get over enthusiastic , Gerrard as a Dm Was awful i dont want to sound negative but we won by out scoring teams thats never a good formula for long term success
ReplyDeleteStill no room for celebration...
ReplyDeleteThe players need something to fight for
ReplyDeleteBeing 4 points off 4th should motivate them to close the gap
Not sure. Not been able to find out.
ReplyDeleteIt is like he isn't our player, since the injury I haven't found one article about him...
ReplyDeletelisten i like flanno but like kelly he always seems injured and at such a young age you have to wonder
ReplyDeletekellys not been injured this yr
ReplyDeleteAnd with his background, you have to hope he'll overcome it...
ReplyDeleteYeah that is his problem but that doesn't change the fact that he had played well.
ReplyDeletewell then maybe the medical and backroom staff need changing or maybe we are asking players to perform in a way they cant
ReplyDeleteAre youevergonnafoff?
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I quite like Coutinho a little deeper. More of a no 8 so he can play those killer through balls. That all depends on who's playing up front tho
ReplyDeleteTell your mum to stop stalking em first then i will leave this page
ReplyDeleteim being honest jay i like him but i cant remeber one stand out moment as hard as i try and i watched eveygame in some format or another
ReplyDeleteYou replied to me. Just stop...
ReplyDeletespurs
ReplyDeleteAnd that volley?
ReplyDeletedo you mean the things cowboys wear
ReplyDeleteWell we differe there. Skrtel too. I think last season was as good as I have seen him play. Fraught with all his problems that never change but on the whole he was better than he had previously been for us.
ReplyDeleteat my age the memory isnt what it was
ReplyDeleteoh no west ham are beating arsenal
ReplyDeleteHaha..
ReplyDeleteJon Flanagan thumps in a powerful half volley for Liverpool!
Type that on you tube, it is easier that to give you the link, it would get stucked...
ive heard some dodgy rumours
ReplyDeleteGerrard was terrible in that regard but he was more creative than he has been for quite a while. Gerrard being there was one reason the defence was so bad but we played a certain way an that way got the best out of the majority of players.
ReplyDeleteVaan Gaal seems to think that outscoring the opposition is the best formula. Sh!te in defence playing three strikers plus Mata that is four oyt and out attackers plus wingers as wingbacks. Maybe not long term but certainly short term.
its the qpr game i cant get it out of my head how bad we where defensivly
ReplyDeleteThats a good thing mate. This early you could put money on it being a draw if not WH will definitely drop at some point.
ReplyDeleteNow if you were being facecious
but to his credit hes gone out on a limb and signed player like di maria etc ....coupled with the fact that they have rooney and van perie and mata so they can ...we have bought lambert and balo with mr glass making a cameo now and again
ReplyDelete0-0
ReplyDeleteAlex Song scored
ReplyDeleteno goal disallowed
ReplyDeleteYeah thats the real problem we haven't done the deals we needed to. We put all our eggs in the Sanchez basket and had nothing else to fall back on. As for Di Maria is getting a well known player for £50m and paying him obscene money going out on a limb? I would say it is a formula that City, Chelsea and United of old have used plenty of times and it has been known to work.
ReplyDeleteYou can't blame the youngest lad?
ReplyDeleteDid you see it, was it regular? I missed it by seconds...
ReplyDeleteNo he didn't
ReplyDeleteThanks i saw him score and all the players celebrate
ReplyDeletea i am trying to watch both chelsea and arsenal agmes same time
Thanks i saw him score and all the players celebrate
ReplyDeletea i am trying to watch both chelsea and arsenal agmes same time.
OOF Carroll looks a really good palyer
ReplyDeleteworth a 35m bid?
How many comments here about Cabaye?
ReplyDeleteDavid Silva scoring goals every week despite playing with no strikers
ReplyDeletePellegrini really showing up Rodgers
i cant keep blaming rodgers im sounding like a broke record
ReplyDeleteas opposed the 100grand a week there payed
ReplyDeleteDidn't Sterling score in the last game. What exactly is Pellegrini showing? That if you inherit great players play them?
ReplyDeletei just rememered its shekh
ReplyDeleteheh...
ReplyDeleteAnd I thank you for it. It can get a bit boring. I'm g
ReplyDeletelad Logan actually talked about football today.
dont be silly orme why play a fullback at fullback when you can play him cf
ReplyDeleteOnly Gerrard,Johnson and Sturridge earn in that reijon
ReplyDeleteokay
ReplyDeletedo not sign winston reid
i was being ironic
ReplyDeleteArsenal 2-0
ReplyDeleteWelbeck
Liverpool betetr not contemplate signing Winston Reid
Agreed. We'll probably end up with him and Sergio Romero at the end of Jan. Delph I like (plus Nainggolan ;-) ) but Romero I'm not so excited about. Sorry; I'm jacking your comment with talk of goalkeepers.
ReplyDeletemy frustration boils down to the fact that our main striker left and we had 120m to get a replacement and didnt ...forget about lovren and co we didnt need them but we needed a striker or strikers and messed up
ReplyDeleteRight you are, Gilstrap. But we all know Gerrard will start against Swansea or come on when he's not needed in the second half. Jeepers; it's as if Gerrard owns LFC these days. We need more big personalities with big trophies behind them in the dressing room. But they demand actual wages so heaven forbid we sign anyone like that.
ReplyDelete1-1 with 3 minutes left...
ReplyDeleteDid you see Mane's goal against Palace the other day? As good if not better than Sterling's against Burnley. But nobody is talking about giving him 100k a week, and rightly so.
ReplyDeleteSterling is younger
ReplyDeleteand is the future of english football way more marketable then Mane
i can see Mane join a top club soon a spurs or Arsenal maybe even us
Bravo Southampton!
ReplyDeleteOH NO the saints are pulling away
ReplyDeleteMane may well join a top club, but not for 100k a week anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd Sterling may well be the future of English football, but if the future is anything like the recent past that's not much to be shouting about. As for being younger, I'm against deciding a first-team player's wage based on his age. If Sterling was good enough for that kind of money right now then I'm all for it. I just think he's still too inconsistent. In time I'm sure he'll get to the level of a genuinely great player and then a genuinely stupid wage. But not yet, I think.
If Man utd , cehlsea ,Arsenal eevn everton
ReplyDeleteare paying their players with simmilar ability and age then lfc have to as well
West Ham are not up to their task... But who knows...
ReplyDeleteStill half an hour left, and one more WH goal would be alright... Holding my breath.
ReplyDeleteAt least Saints did okay.
to all you who criticize rodgers for his interviews , this si mourinhos after southampton
ReplyDelete"I can believe Southampton defended with everything they have - with organisation, spirit and solidarity of players and the effort they fought to get the point.
"My players tried to win, especially in the second half. I can't understand such a big penalty [when Cesc Fabregas fell under the challenge of Matt Targett]. Out of nothing West Ham manager Sam Allardyce starts speaking about Chelsea players diving, then another coach and another coach. The referee changes a penalty for a yellow card.
"Same happened with Diego Costa in the game against Burnley. That I can't understand. A point is a point against a difficult team. There are doubts and doubts - a penalty like that, I will leave with that. The reality is there are penalties and penalties - this one was a huge one. Match after match coaches are telling Chelsea players are diving. I will go to the referee and wish him a good year and tell him he will be ashamed."
What's wrong with that? Typicall mourinho nothing special
ReplyDeleteGuys, trying to be a realist here but we kept a clean sheet against a team now has scored 2 against city at Etihad, now that would I call positive!
ReplyDeleteWas gonna type that
ReplyDelete: ( beat me to it
He talks like Rodgers he praises other team too much like Rodgers too deflect attention
ReplyDeleteCheers Sheikh!
ReplyDeleteSorry to put a dampener on things but Man City had a bad day at the office & we have very little creativity. Swansea should provide a sterner test, would love to see how we cope with their threat!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't exactly play tiki taka against Burnly either. Besides, we are in a good run, not gonna grab a clean sheet, that's for sure, but still gonna win. Sterling and Couts both are in a good run and that bodes well for tomorrow.
ReplyDeletethe difference being jose has actually won things
ReplyDeletedid he i read his posts but couldnt find anything
ReplyDeleteif shelvy plays in midfield tomorrow he could well score as he often runs from deep
ReplyDeleteyep...
ReplyDeleteThe added confidence will be important, can't argue with that!
ReplyDeleteGuys what's happening to Everton...I know we supposed to hate them but its kind of sad
ReplyDeleteBen, nothing is sadder than 2 of your primary strikers haven't scored a single a damn SINGLE prem goal so far... and we are midway through the season...
ReplyDeleteSeriously?????
ReplyDeletedo you have doubts?
ReplyDeletelukaku
ReplyDeleteI'm talking about Liverpool son...;-)
ReplyDeleteahhh...I get it
ReplyDeleteeuropa league syndrome god knows how we will cope
ReplyDeleteNo problems bro ... It's football banter ;)
ReplyDeleteWe really need another 1st team keeper because Mignolet has lost confidence big time at this present moment.
I guess so. I suppose Cazorla gets that kind of money, and he is still way better than Sterling.
ReplyDeleteToday again the rumour is we might offer 23.5m pounds for Berahino... Odin help us.
ReplyDeleteIt's possible he could be Joe Allen V2 but i'd take him over some of the players the club has been linked with recently.
ReplyDeleteHe bossed the midfield against our beloved team when the teams have played recently.
Yup, which is exactly the kind of midfielder we've been crying out for... I don't know anymore. There must have been a good reason we sold Shelvey. Surely.
ReplyDeleteplease no...
ReplyDeleteCheers bro. Yeah we definitely need another one. I still like Migs but he needs serious competition. And maybe a new goalie's coach. When's Christmas again?
ReplyDeleteIt's Carroll all over again.
