'El Guaro' to LFC? - BR pushing to sign exciting £20m Colombia maestro. Contact made already...?

Liverpool are reportedly considering a January move for 28-year old Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin.

According to The Mirror this week:

* Liverpool have been informed of Guarin's January availability.

* Brendan Rodgers is considering a loan move with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.

Some info about £20m-rated Guarin:

* Attacking mid who can play centrally/number 10/right midfield.

* Porto: 21 goals/17 assists in 116 apps (G/A every 3 games)
* Inter Milan: 16 goals/32 assists in 100 apps (G/A every 2 games)
* TOTALS: 37 goals/49 assists in 2016 apps (G/A every 2.5 games)
* 54 apps for the Colombia national team.

* Winner of 10 major trophies.
* Current deal expires in 2017.

After signing his new deal in March, Guarin - nicknamed 'El Guaro' in Colombia - tweeted:

"I’m really happy to be able to continue wearing this jersey. Forza Inter."

Over the summer, Guarin - hailed by former Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni as a 'terrific player' - was linked with moves to Manchester United and Juventus, but in September, his agent denied reports that the Colombian tried to engineer a move away. He told reporters:

"Fredy is happy at Inter, always has been and will continue to be. We are absolutely not thinking about the transfer market. Fredy has everything he wants at Inter and has no need to go elsewhere".

Guarin looks like an ideal upgrade on Joe Allen, and he'd also provide good competition for Jordan Henderson and Steven Gerrard. A loan deal makes sense, especially since it's unlikely that Liverpool will hand Rodgers more big money to waste in the january transfer position.

Is central midfield a priority position to fill, though? It's definitely an area of the team that needs upgrading, but for January, the goalkeeper, striker, and central defensive positions are arguably more pressing priorities.

  1. Yeah and as if FSG are going to spend another £60-£80m?

Plus Alex Song is on loan to West Ham so there is no way we can get him til the loan is up.

Ilori, Aspas, Alberto are also all on loan. We cannot sell them now. Johnson will not leave now, he will wait til the summer and then get a nice signing on fee from his next club.

I have said before, FSG are very unlikely to make any money available espicially if they are planning on getting rid of Rodgers. Would you trust BR or the committee after the amount of money that has been spent over the last two seasons? Why give them more money, to bring in more players to sit on the bench?

    Give Sterling a new contract
Sign Wilfreid Bony, Logan may argue about African cup of nations but we have nothing else to play for in the league so it is okay one month more.
Then hope this gets in mid table by end of season.
Gerrard goes MLS and we sign Alex Song a boyhood lfc fan to replace him
Good plan with Origi coming back, new signings like Can ,Markovic and Lallana finding their feet and Sturridge potentially being fit we might have a great atatck ready to compete for the league

  5. I would give money to spend if Rodgers is allowed to buy the players he wants, all very well to agree on player only for it to fall thru over wages negotiations, other teams just stumping up the cash.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Who is he going to buy though? He cannot attract any top players.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Should've signed him in the summer.

  8. Shame the U18' aren't all 5 years older, could do a straight swap for the first 11 and have a great team.

  9. I thought Guarin was a holding midfielder.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Shame BR is afraid to play them as they will make his signings look abysmal, on form they all get into our first team......................outstanding players!!!.

  11. Could of had him for £10m couple of seasons ago.

  12. Another tell tale sign he's panicking. You should compare his behaviour in tactics, towards the press, towards the players with the way Benitez and Houllier behaved in their final year. It's exactly the same. When under pressure, they all try to play it safe and avoid pressure by coming up with excuses. Not realizing that that is exactly what they should not be doing. If it was me, under pressure, with the world on my back and my players under-performing, I'd swing the ship around and try something completely different. Throw in a kid like Rossiter, throw in a kid like Sinclair and say hey, this is your chance to shine, take it. Sure it could be that they don't deliver but you'll never find that out unless you try it. It's how every "teenage sensation" steps up. By someone just taking a chance on him.

  13. I agree with the three positions that you suggest are priority to fill in January. What realistic targets would you like to see liverpool sign in each position JK? What about DM and your opinion of Alex Song?

  14. So what's the consensus: do we prioritise Europa League or the domestic league? Pros and cons to both arguments. If we prioritise Europa, we're able to concentrate most of our energy into a mere 4 separate ties to reach the final. The downside to this is that there are definitely no guarantees of even reaching the Europa League final. Compounded with this, to crash out of the Europa League would add insult to injury of a probable near mid-table placing.

  15. Hey guys, found this little gem in another forum that might shed some light on the current transfer committee set up.

James Pearce has given an insight into the club behind the scenes

The transfer committee is composed of:

    -Rodgers
    -Ian Ayre
    -Mike Gordon (FSG representative)
    -Dave Fellows (Head of recruitment)
    -Michael Edwards (number cruncher)

Rodgers insists he has the final word on transfers, however Rodgers
has been having to pick from 2 or 3 man short list which did not include
players he initially wanted (due to fee, availability etc)

    Rodgers really wanted:

    -Lovern
    -Lallana
    -Lambert
-Vorm (cost too much, club were not prepared to pay)
    -Bertrand
    -Bonny
    -Eriksen

    Transfer committee wanted:

    -Can
    -Markovic
    -Moreno
-Balotelli (Rodgers didn't want him 2 weeks before he was signed, as other
deals fell through he was left with a choice of Eto'o or Balotelli)

FSG wanted a director of football, but Rodgers opposed this. However FSG in essence got a DOF by committee.

Muddies waters who is held to account. FSG still fully behind
Rodgers, and still has credit in the bank despite poor start. But FSG
    expect a top 4 finish.

Rodgers wanted another keeper in the summer to push Mignolet
(Vorm). Mignolet is not sweeper keeper Rodgers talked about when he
    arrived.

Rodgers has said to Pearce its tactical why Borini has not played
(not performed in training). Reading between the lines he believes
Rodgers was frustrated at Borini for rejecting the moves, and generally
he has not impressed. The club are making it abundantly clear they want
    him gone.

Rodgers left out new signing as he felt he needed to go back to what
he knew. That's why we've seen Lucas and Toure return to team, and players like Can left out.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Nice one very interesting

    ReplyDelete
  17. if there is credit in the bank then we will be buying in jan

when we have brought in jan they have been good (counts ,strudge)

    ReplyDelete
  18. In essence, Rodgers got most of who he wanted. He wanted three Southampton players and three Swansea players. That is just not good enough. The committee actually made the better signings with Moreno and Can doing better than the rest. That still does not explain why Lallana is dropped constantly when Rodgers wanted him. If Borini's training is the reason, that must mean Johnson, Skrtel are beasts in training because I cannot see anything there. The only good players would have been Eriksen and maybe Bony from the bunch Rodgers wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  19. We are Liverpool. We should aim for both. Instead of the CL, take the EL to be the same and go at it with the same intensity. Is it not why Rodgers spent so much money. We need to get the required players in Jan, play the proper team and system and go after both. Otherwise, Rodgers should not be here.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Completely agree and it is something I have been saying for some time now. Rodgers gave Sterling a chance and look how that turned out. I want to see Harry Wilson and Ibe running down the wings instead of Hendo playing makeshift RB. These are players hungry to make it and we have to give them a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  21. IF we win Europa League, we can still qualify for ECL but it looks unlikely.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think we need to prioritise both, we need to treat it like the Champions League. There is no guarantee we will finish 4th and there is no guarantee we will win the Europa League so we need to prioritize both.

This season we may very well end up 7th or 8th league position...If we can get to the quarters of the Europa League we will have some belief that we could go on a win it. If we win the CL the blow or failing to impress in the league will be softened. Maybe FSG will still part ways with BR but at least the we will be in the CL.

The most likely outcome based on out current form is we fail in all fronts.

I can't see us beating Bournemouth to be honest, they are flying high in the Championship and have not lost a game in all competitions in the last 3 months. They have an excellent goal difference and have scored 44 times in 21 games I believe.

BR needs to play Can, Markovic, Manquillo in this fixture.

We have a very tough February and we need to go into it with confidence. If we lose VS Bournesmouth tomorrow and Arsenal at the weekend I feel BR will get sacked.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Absolutely cos what he's doing now sucks- give a couple of them 'kids' he raves so much about a chance

    ReplyDelete
  24. Bertrand?why? Is Rodgers being deliberately obstructive by constantly changing his team as if he's saying to the committee look this is what u wanted.if so very unprofessional- at the same time none of em are world beaters- tho Bony and Eriksen would've been ok signings-something stinks behind the scenes

    ReplyDelete
  25. This is standard practice. There will always be capital input from outside of the club ie directly by the owners when it comes to things like stadium developments because it would simply not be feasible with the club accounts. The FFP laws allow a certain amount over a certain period of time, I don't remember the exact figure but it's quite hefty. Remember too that the club is observing marketing opportunities in regards to naming rights for the new/improved stand, coupled with larger revenues, it will offset the cost of the initial investment. In theory, though it may take ages, FSG certainly get their money back on that.

This season the club only spent 45m net, and that figure is easily covered by the TV deal every PL club has (arround 55m upwards, set to double with a new deal in the future). There is also PL prize money which can cover any mid-season holes in the budget. The club can temporarily enter the red because it will make money over the course of the season eg tickets, prize money, TV deal is paid in parts. So projected income reflects the transfer budget, I would imagine. Therefore the club accounts cover transfers.

What Logan has said is pretty interesting and I'd love a source too. The nature of the loan will tell us a lot. It sounds to me it's simply 'owners equity' or it could be a gift repayable on departure - which means LFC would owe FSG potentially hundreds of millions if they were to leave the club. It makes sense though because as I mentioned, massive investment for the stadium cannot be covered by the clubs books.

    ReplyDelete
  26. This list reeks of mediocrity! Eriksen's name is the only one that stands out for me. Bony's a good player, just not convinced he suits our style of play. Does this list refer to the summer's transfer targets? If so, the criminality of the situation is that if you had to blow all your transfer spending on one player, surely it would be a top class centre forward.

When you look at our current 'rotation policy' it is patently obvious, that we did not need to buy 9 players this summer. Four or five astute purchases would have sufficed.

I think the only reason Rodgers has currency in the bank is that it would be very difficult to get the 'right' manager now. What should be concerning for Rodgers' fans and detractors alike is his suggestion that all is not well within the dressing room. We are starting to hear reports that some of the players have lost faith in him. We all remember what happened when Hodgson lost the dressing room?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I read in some other website that there is a pro Rodgers and anti Rodgers camp in Liverpool. Players who speak out against him are benched whereas players that support him play. That might be the only plausible reason Mignolet is suddenly dropped. He must have spoken out against BR. This might also explain why Moreno is dropped because Rodgers wanted Bertrand.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Johnson as well saying he wasn't gonna beg etc then he gets regularly picked- Allen on the other hand- his nose couldn't be any more brown

    ReplyDelete
  29. It seems to be the case. Having Bony instead of Balo would have done us a world of good. If we had singed Ericksen then we probably would not have signed Alberto and Aspas.

We have been so poor and we don't have anyone to blame but ourselves (club).

We need to act like a big team. Buy potential and loan them up like Chelsea and make a tidy profit.

    ReplyDelete
  30. We need a goalkeeper, Defensive Mid and Striker.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I guarantee you that if Chelsea had Luis Alberto in their ranks, they would get more than 10 mil for him. We are just too weak in the market.

    ReplyDelete
  32. We definitely need an upgrade in central midfield. Much of the defensive problems are because our midefielders can neither track runners consistently nor keep the ball in the attacking third with our striker or wingers (if we play with any).

Guarin is a clear upgrade on Henderson, Allen (note that I'm a fan of Allen's) and Gerrard. I'd say it's a no-brainer to get him on loan. He'd also probably take some pressure off Coutinho and Lallana as he is quite good going forward, too, and not averse to creating chances.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Chelsea wouldn't buy Alberto at first place, definitely not at 7-8mn.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The Colombian Welsh Xavi?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I was also wondering if this is why Rodgers insists on playing Balotelli as a lone striker, knowing full well that he doesn't possess the skillset for such a role. Balotelli's woeful goal return is vindication for why Rodgers didn't want him at the club.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Vorm cost 3.5 milion. So we're expected to believe we were willing to pay 20 million for Markovic but not 3.5 million for Vorm? The way I see it, Rodgers' assumed list contains most of the players we ended up signing. But to be honest this just seems like a made up post. Why would Pearce choose an internet forum to publish information like this when he has a job at the Echo? He did write an article the other day about FSG's preferred approach to buying players and it being the reason why we didn't sign any proven talent. If that's the case and Rodgers actually did want to buy proven quality, I hope they have now learned their 200 million quid lesson and stump up the cash needed. As an aside, Arsenal whose approach we are trying to emulate, still managed to finish within the top four every season even with only young kids.

    ReplyDelete
  37. If it's true that there is unrest in the Liverpool camp, I think it's best not to subject these youngsters to that. Indeed, they weren't needed last season, but the air in the camp back then would have been more positive and thus more beneficial for their development.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Exactly after all BR didn't want him- he could've played Borini or even Lambert up front with him after Sturridge injury but chose to leave him isolated to prove his point- maybe showing the owners that in fact he knows what he's doing and the committee don't - can this really be happening? Maybe the lot of them need to move on

    ReplyDelete
  39. There is a conflict of interests going on it would appear - we are being pulled in two different directions and something has to give- it seems the SAS goals last season papered over more than just defensive cracks

    ReplyDelete
  40. The buck stops with the chair of any committee, and the chair of Liverpool's transfer committee is Ian Ayre, who is also the CEO.

Rodgers is still the public face of the club because it appears that we don't have a DoF, but as you say, the committee acts as a DoF, just less flexible as it's more difficult to convince a committee than an individual.

Being the face of the club, Rodgers of course is going to publicly talk up new signings. Saying to the BBC that "I didn't want Markovic" while the young Serb is happily posing for pictures in his new red shirt would cause an implosion, not to mention a media storm. It would also, if you'd pardon the sexism, be emasculating for Rodgers to admit that in a world of Wengers and Mourinhos he doesn't hold nearly as much power in his club as they do, particularly when it comes to transfers. So of course he's going to say "all signings must be okayed by me".

I disagree with a lot of Rodgers' selections and tactics this season, but the transfer issue puts a whole different spin on it. He needs time and importantly freedom to build the club the way he feels he needs to. Why employ him as the manager otherwise?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Just what sort of style of play do you think we currently have? Right now Bony is scoring goals. We aren't. So I guess you're right he doesn't suit our current style...which is why we need him.

    ReplyDelete
  42. 'Can this really be happening?' - such an interesting question, because it would suggest that Rodgers is happy to put his interests above that of the club. If he is, whilst throwing away the owners' money, then he needs to go.

Apparently, Henry will be conducting a review of our transfer activity, so may be the committee will be dissolved. FSG need to consider their actions also. When they choose the next manager, hopefully it will be someone with experience of achieving at the highest level. They then need to put some faith in him to bring in the players that fit his system. Unfortunately, their fingers were burned by Dalglish/Comolligate.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't think FSG are behind Rodgers at all. I'm confident that FSG fully well know of the extraordinary achievement it would take from here to qualify for the top 4, and are now just waiting until the Summer to replace Rodgers.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It would be interesting to know if the loans have strings attached such as time limited and/or being secured against the value of the stadium. They may be interest free but there is no such thing as a free lunch in business.

    ReplyDelete
  45. You're being (a little) too hard on yourself

    ReplyDelete
  46. LFC ideally wanted a true replacement for Suarez - mobility, trickery, intensity, flexibility and work ethic. Bony is a fantastic goal scorer, with attributes that Suarez lacked (aerial ability) and is far better than any options we presently have available to us, but is not necessarily the ideal fit based on the above.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Unless your owner is a russian billionaire, in which case all bets are off

  48. Glen Johnson tore his groin v United will miss entire festive schedule..lfc echo twitter

  49. apparently Napoli and Benitez are looking to part ways if we lose to Bournemouth sack rodgers give benitez till end of season and say "if you get us in the champions league by finishing in the top 4 or winning the europa league the job is yours"........ rafa rafa benitez

    ReplyDelete
  50. Interesting, but I do not believe this for a second. I doubt James Pearce has this kind of access. Who is giving him this info? Rodgers? Ayre? With only 5 people on the committee, any leaks like this would cause major friction, and the list of suspects is small.

I agree with Eric too - how can Vorm be too expensive?

This list is suspiciously similar to the list posted by alleged ex-FSG employee Mike Bernard. Looks to me like Pearce (if it was really him posting), adopted that list for himself.

I'll take Rodgers/Ayre's comments on the subject over Pearce.

    ReplyDelete
  51. All sounds about right.

    ReplyDelete
  52. As for fees that has to be agreed by consensus and if they don't fancy Vorm they decide the fee is too high. The info Pearce gives is basically what other journos have said in one way or another. I've listed the names before butvtha include Tony Barrette and others

    ReplyDelete
  53. But Ballotelli is none of those things and expecting to find a player with Suarez skill set is daft.

    ReplyDelete
  54. But where does the list come from? Like I said, I can believe Rodgers cannot just buy whoever he likes but I doubt that he was forced to work with players he really didn't want. That's always the excuse. It was with Rafa and Keane and it is now with Rodgers and Balotelli

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ouch. Had that before. It hurts.

    ReplyDelete
  56. And what about Sakho and Ilori? What about Allen and Borini? All forced on him as well? Mignolet? Alberto? Aspas? Sturridge and Coutinho of course were all Rodgers'decision no doubt.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Everything 'stinks' when we're losing man....

Especially behind the scenes - cos that's where we look - at the unknown.........

    ReplyDelete
  58. But, why would Migno speak out against Brendan when Brendan's kept him in goal and always defended him....?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Just read few articles about Rafa getting sacked........If he is available we should get him

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hence the profound disappointment in Balotelli's performances. It's not just about the lack of goals, but also the relative lack of application.

There are players that have similar qualities to Luis Suarez, just not at the same level. Alexis Sanchez and Ezequiel Lavezzi are but 2 examples. We were extensively linked to them in the summer because of this.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Very rarely works out when an ex manager rejoins. Mourinho excluded tough to think of many who have done well.

    ReplyDelete
  62. When clubs have transfers committees, finding out who's directly responsible for a bad player becomes a game of speculation and random finger pointing.FSG include Rodgers in the transfer process. In other leagues, some managers have no say. They just coach.
One of the best quotes from a manager.Rafa Benitez when he was at Valencia: "I was hoping for a sofa/defender and they've brought me a lamp"
KK wasted millions on trash. Then the first window Brendan Rodgers had, he bought Fabio Borini, Assaidi and Joe Allen. That's the reason FSG wanted a panel for recruitment. The players Liverpool have signed by committee wouldn't have always been top of Rodgers' wishlist. But i doubt the panel would completely ignore BR if he put his foot down and was adamant he didn't want a player other committee members had targeted.
The transfer committee was supposed to stop Liverpool wasting money.Collectively they've flushed just as much down the toilet. There should be posters put up of Rodgers, Michael Edwards, Ayre, Gordon and Dave Fellows western style.Wanted de4d or alive:-)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Does it bother you he was in chelsea?

    ReplyDelete
  64. If Mourinho can do it so can Rafa and I doubt any top manager will be available in the summer may be Frank De Boer

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yes, but now is the time to get very very excited, for according to various media outlets (all trustworthy, I'm sure) we are being linked to Jaime Baez, the Next Suarez. This lad is One For The Future...something which the club are severely lacking. Pop the corks, gents. Things are looking up.

    ReplyDelete
  66. yes naveed at least some of us on the same page

    ReplyDelete
  67. Me neither the guy won us the most Prestigious Trophy of all time for any club

    ReplyDelete
  68. It seems these days that ever other young player is the 'next Messi' or 'next Neymar', it's becoming ridiculous. Nevertheless, we've apparently made an offer for Baez. If we get him, I hope he is the real deal, but there will be work permit issues.

We're also being linked with Alexander Lacezette again. I like the look of him, but apparently we need to sell Borini to raise funds.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Another story circulating is we have 'signed' Ochoa from Malaga for 3m who will join us in Jan. This guy isn't their first choice keeper either and maybe Migs isn't too happy about it- if true

    ReplyDelete
  70. For all that Rafa was in his 1st stint he is no Mourinho. To say if Mourinho can do then so can Rafa is plainly highly optimistic. Name another manager who has returned to a former club and done well?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Totally agree. I said months ago that Balo among others weren't Rodgers choices and I felt he was intent on playing him upfront on his own, just to show the committee that they were wrong to choose him. We are f***** if this continues, because a manager has to be able to chose the players he wants. Had enough anyway - Rodgers cannot organise a balanced team where all facets are as strong as each other. Was happy to see Rodgers join us but now I want FSG to be ruthless, get rid and bring in a proven winner.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Liverpool agree to sign Mexico World Cup keeper Guillermo Ochoa for £3m from Malaga, according to multiple reports

    ReplyDelete
  73. I think it's precisely the case.

    ReplyDelete
  74. My running theory is that the transfer committee target players according to whether or not they have awesome hair. Looks like I've yet to be proven wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yeah. Blanc has never really fully convinced and has been falling behind Bielsa's Marseille. Unless Blanc does very well in the Champions League, he's finished, I reckon.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Sanchez's level seems pretty good to me mate. And I bet he doesn't bite anyone either.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Maybe Jaimie should make a voting for hairstyle of the season since we can't vote for the best player...

    ReplyDelete
  78. No obviously. Allen and Borini were his. Him saying that Ilori may be good on a few years when signed and he had previously said he didn't want lots of young players so that suggest he wasn't all that keen. He didn't get a go and had been out since. Sakho too doesn't seem to be his. But that is more guesswork and engaging brain. Mignolet surely not a preference if you think about what he had said about what was important in a keeper and then said Reina would not be going anywhere. I had heard that we could have signed Sturridge the summer before we did bit he wasn't convinced so maybe he wasn't his first choice either. The others I am less sure about.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Forced? Not in the way that he said no and they said yes but given options that may not be his first choice. His choices may not even be on the list at all. In the case of Ballotelli I wouldn't be surprised if he was one of two options.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Regardless of which list you look at it still shows a lack of ambition oh and theres a glaring error in this nobody wanted Alexis Sanchez strange that.
I didnt see any way we were getting Erikson after shamefully overlooking him not so long ago i dont this report as being accurate at all.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Yes Gene, good point, and migs has only himself to blame...

I read a horrible stat earlier - our defense has made 21 errors leading to shots on goal of which Migs has let in 6 - worst in the league.

Man U have third worst in league with 15 errors - of which DeGea has let in a grand total of...1!!!!!

Hard evidence there - he can hardly complain.....

    ReplyDelete
  82. Why is that agony dude?

From what I saw at the world cup this guy was not afraid of the occasion, neither did he flinch at the responsibilities of taking on world class strikers, on top of which he was quite good..... unless I got the wrong bloke......

    ReplyDelete
  83. Honestly? Since 2008-9 Bony has made 209 appearances and scored 115 goals. His stats compare favorably with both players you mention...and he hasn't had the squad behind him that Higuain had at RM either. Martinez plays on one of the best two squads in a two horse race league. Impressive stats as they are...I think it is harder to score in the PL...especially on team that doesn't routinely challenge for the top 4. I wouldn't scoff at either Martinez or Higuain, but if Bony is average then those two are also average and that is just not the case.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Yeah, these days its really hard to find someone with wobbly legs between the posts.....

....so I'm afraid it's now outstanding, life-of-its-own, very off-putting hair.....

    ReplyDelete
  85. I was readin on another site disclosed by a former fsg employee that Rodgers had fees agreed with costa, 2 years ago and recently with Sanchez, named a lot more. Think Liverpool put in higher transfer but slow drawnout wages negotiations fucked things up as arsenal just met his wage demands and live in London too a plus.they wont pay big wages, biggest problem I think.gerrard nearly on highest wages and a passenger for most games now, a worldclass player when he scores a free kick once every 6 games.we win more games now when he is not playin.

£25M would be a relatively good fee in my opinion. I doubt there's be much risk .. Any signing is a risk in some capacity. Sell Borini for maybe £13M if Sunderland still want him. He will surely leave now. The manager ignored him and we went without a recognised striker in our last match. Use the fee toward bony. Throw Allen in plus £13M go and buy Moussa Sissoko to add a box to box athletic powerful midfielder who can defend and attack.

  87. . Bony is a good striker! I don't know why people can't see that lol the facts stats and performances don't lie!
I agree about Martinez . His fee will be high and wages as he is 27, his agent will be after a mega contract for him before he is 30. Higuain would cost £40M easy plus wages. Bony is the best package all round out of the 3.

  88. When BR took over, he stated he needed time to bring Liv back to main stage. Fortunately, that happened too early (thanks to Suarez). With Suarez, Liv will always be a one man team. Now, Rodgers needs the time he asked for when he took over LIv. He has made good calls, and bad calls, every manager does. Lets stick with BR and see him deliver his promise. He is working hard and he will find that recipe again. What he needs now is trust and backing of Liv fans. Not constant criticism from fuckers who just read about Liv progress and not watch every game.
