Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has made significant changes for tonight's Capital One clash with Middlesbrough, and with Gerrard out for the evening, the club also has a new captain.
FULL TEAM: Mignolet, Manquillo, Sakho, Toure, Enrique, Lucas, Rossiter, Lallana, Markovic, Sterling, Lambert
SUBS: Jones, Skrtel, Moreno, Williams, Suso, Borini, Balotelli
Rickie Lambert captains the team in Gerrard's absence, an honour that caps a memorable few months for the England striker. Probable formation:
--------------- Mignolet
Manquillo --- Toure - Sakho ---- Enrique
---------------- Lucas
--------- Rossiter - Lallana
------- Sterling ----- Markovic
--------------- Lambert
There's also the possibility Rodgers may go with 4231:
--------------- Mignolet
Manquillo --- Toure - Sakho ---- Enrique
------------ Lucas -- Rossiter
Sterling ------- Lallana ----- Markovic
--------------- Lambert
I personally prefer this, as it means Lallana will play in a position more suited to his abilities. Suso still can't get a game, though, which is disappointing.

Its clear that SUSO has no future at our club... I am really disappointed thought he could our Silva
ReplyDeleteWhy is Sterling playing? There is absolutely no need to risk a player of his importance in a game like this. We could have played Suso but this is indeed the final nail in his coffin which will soon be packaged to Milan. Glad to see Rossiter play though..
ReplyDeleteI am quite happy with that lineup. Sure we will go 4-3-3.
ReplyDeleteBut, why Sterling. He is rested for the Villa game but started for this game. Seems very perplexing.
ReplyDeleteExactly my first thought, why Sterling? Seems very contradictory.
ReplyDeleteI am assuming Rodgers does want to win the match and Sterling is our most dangerous attacking player. If we can finish them off in the first half then the start of the second half Sterling can be subbed.
ReplyDeleteKnowing us, that is never going to happen. I very much fancy this game going to extra time and even penalties and then he will be burned out for the Derby. This game is not vital like the Everton one as even if we lose, we can still go for the FA Cup so taking a risk does not seem plausible.
ReplyDeleteThey ended the Soto game together last year at home. Will be interesting to see them start a game.
ReplyDeleteIs Ibe injured? Would have liked to see him in there somewhere, even the bench, and like most I would have liked to see Suso. Still a couple of interesting performances to watch out for, Rossiter/Markovic etc.
ReplyDeleteFor me though Lallana has to improve his game massively tonight. I know he has been injured, but really want to see him step up.
I've is on loan.
ReplyDeleterodgers is taking it seriously..but suso wud ve been a good choice instead of sterling..everton is more important than this one
ReplyDeleteIt is a no win situation for Rodgers. If we lose this match then the daggers will be out again.
ReplyDeletePress, Press, press and we will win. That is how we slaughtered teams last season. For this starting eleven i without a doubt would go 4-3-3.
Ibe is on loan.
ReplyDeletei made a prediction on the other article
ReplyDeletegot all right apart from serling for suso and borini for rossiter
nooooo and skrtel too ..i am watching you :P
ReplyDeleteashley williams?
ReplyDeletei think we signed him from swansea
sonny bill williams the rugby player
ReplyDeletea win is essential for confidence. momentum will help the next game.
ReplyDeleteMichael Williams joined the Reds at U14 level from Wrexham and is a regular member of the U21 squad.
ReplyDeletei hope we win his or the fa cup
ReplyDeletei have given up on the top 4
this is the only way we can save some face
and rodgers can prove himself as a manger by winning trophies as well
my only concern with these types of line up is a moral one.....say kolo and sako play superb together do they keep there spot...say lambert and rossiter have blinders do they keep there spot
ReplyDeleteJordan Williams is a Welshman. 17 years of age (I think). Plays in central midfield
ReplyDeleteibe is on loan lets make it a flush
ReplyDeleteNot at the end of the game old chum.
ReplyDeletewell he could if he had the talent
ReplyDeleteCome on liverpool, I have nerves in the belly about this one...
ReplyDeleteHow did Lambert get the armband? its gone cheap tonight. Lucas or toure alllllllll day for me, what a slap in the face.................errrrr good luck lads :)
ReplyDeletei got the lottery prediction right apart from 3 numbers
ReplyDeleteI think (hope) Toure will reign Sakho in tonight, the way Gary Neville Reigned Stam in during his teething period at the scum.
ReplyDeleteYep, Suso will suffer the same fate as Pacheco
ReplyDeletecan anyone win the ball without fouling
ReplyDeleteLucas and Rossiter found wanting?
ReplyDeletei seriously dont rate markovic got nothing but pace
ReplyDeleteRossiter you beauty!
ReplyDeleteget in
ReplyDelete20 yard megs :)
ReplyDeleteRossiter should be playing further up the pitch.
ReplyDeleterositer 1 - 0 boro
ReplyDeleterossiter started well hope his not new jay spearing
ReplyDeletemarkovic do something
ReplyDeleterunning around liek a headless chicken is useless
Lallana looking really good.
ReplyDeleteAyala looking really good. He could have been a player for us
ReplyDeletemarkovic
ReplyDeleteaweful
his match vs villa i senced he would be a bad signing and so far he is looking worse gives it a way every time
Can we afford to rest Sterling?
ReplyDeleteGive the guy a break.
ReplyDeleteGive the boy a chance to adjust to a new league/country etc etc
ReplyDeletesterling put him in he passes it to ayala
ReplyDeletewhen he gets the ball passes it back to midfielders all the time
tadic his fellow serb
ReplyDeletedis not need time
Rossiter looks like he has been playing 1st team football for ages.
ReplyDeletedont say anything yet
ReplyDeletemanquillo looked like cafu vs dourtmount
but looke like konchesky vs west ham
Yet against City he looked good
ReplyDeleteTadic is 5 years older and quite honestly has not done anything spectacular.
ReplyDeletefor 5 mins
ReplyDeleteplease serbian lfc fans said markovic is too weak and tadic is better
ReplyDeletePlaying for saints is totally different to playing for LFC, then there's the age difference! Give him more time, besides being from the same country isn't as important if you consider personality/character etc people are different!
ReplyDeleteSo you agree
ReplyDeleteit may seem like i am picking on him
ReplyDeletebut i am not markovic needs to improve
you need to dribble as a 20m winger take on your man get to the byline
worry the defenders not keep coming infield
For Lambert's sake hope we get some crosses in!
ReplyDeleteHe's not playing out wide, Rodgers is playing the same formation Liverpool used to beat Norwich 3-2
ReplyDeletealso what a ridiculous decision to give lambert the captaincy
ReplyDeletelucas 7 years , even mignolet or toure could have done it
lambert on his debaut proves rodgers is losing it
Cheers Lads
ReplyDeleteIbe is on loan.
ReplyDeleteWe have not really threatened Boro's goal. Really do not know why we are playing two holding midfielders. There has been no need for it. I would switch to 4-3-3 with Lallana and Rossiter ahead of Lucas.
ReplyDeleteAverage, very average.
ReplyDeleteToo many long balls from us
ReplyDeleteCan you explain the need for two holding midfielders in this match?
ReplyDeletemarkovic finally does something
ReplyDeleteapplause !
if we did not ahve two tomlin would ahve destroyed us
ReplyDeleteFrom my point of view its a 4-3-2-1 with Sterling and Markovic interchanging behind Lambert
ReplyDeleteI don't Logan, baffles me. Marko looks average as well. Why not play Suso from the get go?
ReplyDeleteRubbish. explain where and how.
ReplyDeletewhats wrong with two holding mids
ReplyDeleteyou make it seem like a bad thing
This not Chelsea
ReplyDeletemarko looks so average its unbelevable
ReplyDeleteTo compensate for the lack of pace?
ReplyDeleteits down to basic lack of quality in defense and midfield which is panicking rogers into a safety first strategy if we had two decent cb and a commanding goalie coupled with a decent Dm i dare say we would play one....
ReplyDeletewhat do you mean
ReplyDeletealonso and mascherano used to play under rafa
we used to be fantastic attacibly
Boro have troubled us once or twice. If we do not take the game to them then they will find an equaliser.
ReplyDeleteBoro have not troubled us. We are waiting for them to score.
ReplyDeletelook two holding mids are essential when your defense is that bad but one of them should be able to get by the pitch
ReplyDeleteergo lies the problem do we have the players to do that .....no danny no suarez =lazer and lambert and a world of differance
ReplyDeleteIf we had a Fernandinho type DM we wouldn't have to have 2 DMs.
ReplyDeletemarkovic ruining every attack with his negative play
ReplyDeletethats because we dont have the quality to build from the back kolo just whacks it anywhere and we dont have the right movement up front on in midfield no one runs the channels
ReplyDeleteI really like Lallana's style! Elegant on the ball and makes things happen.
ReplyDeleteDoes Markovic owe you money?
ReplyDeletewe have balo
ReplyDeleteon the bench and settling in...and if im honest he is adapting his play so it will take time for him to get his niche
ReplyDeleteThat is literally an amazing thing to say. He is pure quality.
ReplyDeleteYou are ignorant.
ReplyDeleteWhat lies? We would be much better off having two midfielders pushing forward than two sitting back. Boro are waiting for the opportune moment. We could have finished off this game long time ago.
ReplyDeleteMarkovic is only 20 and this is his second game on first eleven.
ReplyDeleteHe need time and support. He has the attributes to succeed but he hasn't used them yet which is a bit odd.
he needs to put his head up
ReplyDelete" think can i get my team up the pitch "
that is what he should be thinking , but just passes it side wards and back
no way is he worth 20m he looks so weak almost aspas like no way can he ever adapt to the pl
A whole back there were rumours about football players where they really, really shouldn't (too close to home). I can only presume that Suso was one of those.
ReplyDeleteno he is like aspas and aqualani
ReplyDeleteway too weak
serbian red fans on TIA warned us about this
he will join milan
ReplyDeleteand will be a good player
but we dont need him with sterling, coutinho and lallana all better then him
We are playing with two holding midfielders.
ReplyDeleteI can guarantee that if we switch to a 1-2 midfield with Lucas holding, Lallana and Rossiter ahead of him we will throttle Boro.
What have they done to trouble us?
What have Boro done to trouble us?
ReplyDeletetomlin getting in between sakho and toure
ReplyDeletelallana is furthest forward and lucas will implode if he shoots..as for rossiter im not sure what his natural game is if hes a defensive midfielder its a big ask for him to play out of style on his debut but he has scored
ReplyDeleteSee you still cannot give a straight answer.
ReplyDeleteisnt that a song
ReplyDeletePlay out of style? I freaking give up!
ReplyDeletewell phil thompson says they have so nar nar nar nar nar
ReplyDeleteSuso is obviously finished at Anfield.
ReplyDeleteVery surprised to see Sterling in the lineup with the derby at the weekend
sakho has been so clumpy as well
ReplyDeletemade a pass from enrique a boro break away
toure doing well though
So was Sterling. So easy to take down. And look at him now.
ReplyDeleteJust saying. Give him so time. He will deliver.
rossiter is 17 i think give the kid a break
ReplyDeletetoure has been awful
ReplyDeletebut what is his role ?
ReplyDeleteall i see is a guy that gun run fast
with no footballing brain there is a reason why he only got 0 assist last year
Have to play Sterling - REST POOR
ReplyDeleteAre you arguing with yourself?
ReplyDeletewell compared to sakho he has been decent
ReplyDeletehe plays like a mad man
goal was a fluke BUt who cares - Laser is real bright spot
ReplyDeletegood first halfs for lallana rossiter sterling ...jose has looked good also considering hes been out
ReplyDeleteare you serious?
ReplyDeleteare you deliberately trying to wind me up ?
the worst player on the pitch :
loses the ball when no ones there
passes the ball back at every opportunity
plays no part in link up play
always gets shrugged off the ball
his start reminds me of another serb jovanovic all they ahve is pace
but jovanovic was a free markovic is a 20m flop
Sorry, the name for both of you was "Nevergonnacrackthecode" momentarily.
ReplyDeleteGood God man, you jump the gun so much it's actually comical.
ReplyDeleteAnd again. You could say this same thing about Sterling. He looked exactly like player who can run fast and nothing else.
ReplyDeleteYou are way too short sighted in many things. Give some time!
Come on up the pace!!!
ReplyDeleteBugger all is happening upfront.
ReplyDeletelallana lookunng promising
ReplyDeleteI think Brendons given Lambert the armband to give him a boost to kick start his career with us.
ReplyDeleteHes got a touch like a f***ing bin man though
Lol lol! Problem is that Lambert needs to play consistently to find his rhythm. The odd 20mins won't help!
ReplyDeleteSO poor
ReplyDeleteWhat did I tell you. We were waiting for Boro to score.
ReplyDeletereally getting fed up with our boring football this season.
This team is so poor. Lambert absolutely useless tonight
ReplyDeleteWhat did I tell you. We were waiting for Boro to score.
ReplyDeleteGetting tired of our boring football this season.
as cila black would almost say ......no surprise surprise
ReplyDeleteI genuinely think it's impossible to build a solid defense with Sakho inside it, no matter who are the other defenders.
ReplyDeleteWe were waiting for Boro to score. Getting tired of our cautious football this season.
ReplyDeleteSo blame Sakho??!!!!
ReplyDeletehe used to be a bin man but he got sacked for missing the cart
ReplyDeleteSterling is the only player trying to score...a 19yo.
ReplyDeleteTake Lambert & Marko off, doing absolutely nothing!
he handballs it
ReplyDeletehe always does something clumsy
that indirectly leads to a goal
you can blame sakho for gerrard slipping as well he is always in teh thick of it
He gave the ball away needlessly then commited a hand ball, who other's fault is it ?
ReplyDeleteChange the f****** formation.
ReplyDeletePOOL 1 BORO 1 - only one winner now and its not us - as predicted - B R might have to GO - cant defend dead ball after spending 75 million on defenders -SHANKS would be disgusted -REALLY NO MORE EXCUSES
ReplyDeleteWhy is Sterling still on the pitch - get him off you idiot
ReplyDeleteyou can cahnge the formation a million times
ReplyDeletebut the truth is rodgers has wasted 200m
sakho and markovic are 38m down the drain lovren following that path and we have mignolet 8m down the drain
balotelli is opposite of how we play
only lallana, allen, sturridge, coutinho, and moreno look decent
sack the ,manager ancelotti will be available this summer
That ball to hand, he had his hands by his side. It wasn't his fault the ref got that one wrong!
ReplyDeleteSterling and lallana looking good, borini and balo in for marko and lambert hopefully soon
ReplyDeletei really wanted it to work for lambert like i did carroll but the reality is they dont suit our style
ReplyDeleteHe gave the freaking ball away to start with !!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh come on ...
ReplyDeleteits extreme but there are elements of truth in there rogers has spent big on whats turning out to be average players
ReplyDeleteOur biggest problem and it's so obvious
ReplyDeleteMarkovic bottle that shot!
ReplyDeletehow does the format work is it extra time or a replay
ReplyDeleteLast thing wee need is sterling playing extra time with the derby on saturday
ReplyDeletethat answers my question
ReplyDeletewow the go brigade have started already. "YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE"? yeah right...........
ReplyDeleteforget the derby
ReplyDeletethis games is more important
we need a trophy
Terrifying more like.
ReplyDeletemaybe we should ahve kept roy hodgson in the job in 2011 and be playing championship football and never sacked him because we sign ynwa
ReplyDeleteit is just a song we will always support the players if tehy ahve problems like brad jones did
but if tehy are bad players they will be ousted out
rodgesr cant justify losing 3 out of 5 games
shocking approach play
ReplyDeleteUse your left foot Mario!
ReplyDelete...
ReplyDeletetell them MK DONS
ReplyDeleteSo poor. No energy, no penetration, no pace! Average!
ReplyDeleteI know BR will turn in around but man.... poor performance so far.
that still leaves sterling ( our best player ) lallana ( 26m) lazer ( 20m) sako (17m) lambert ( 4m) balo ( 16m )
ReplyDeletecant believe suso did not come in for williams
ReplyDeleterodgesr is clearly basing his desicions on emotion
selling agger ,reina etc
Granted... BR cannot pick a center back, in the same way Ferguson couldnt pick a keeper. However I'm hoping like you that this is just a blip in form.
ReplyDeletelazaer is a flop you heard it hear first has no quality he will leave for 3m
ReplyDeletesakho is a flop lambert was uneeded
balo and lallana will come good
Liverpool could not open up a bag of crisps at the minute
ReplyDeleteI have to be honest I never understood the Markovic sigining. Even his highlights on youtube were lowlights
ReplyDeletewhy the f**k is everyone slipping and falling on their butts ???
ReplyDeletei was hoping you would say he would come good and tell me i am wrong
ReplyDeletesakho at it agqin
ReplyDeleteKolo has been pretty good tonight
ReplyDeleteSaying that it looks like someone has in the centre circle
ReplyDeletenope :)
ReplyDeleteFor flip sake Markovic SHOOOOTTT!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteShaquiri was our first choice and he's hardworking, strong and skillfull enough. Markovic was 2nd or 3rd choice as far as I could tell. His signing hurt me almost as much as the Andy Carroll deal. BUT I hope he proves me wrong
ReplyDeleteAverage from Marko...Suso should have started.
ReplyDeleteI'd stick Lallana up front alongside Sturridge and tell him to do a 'Suarez' he's a very elegant footballer in full flow.
ReplyDeleteif you add it up we have about 100m worth of talent out there
ReplyDeleteWish we kept Ibe & saved the Markovic money!
ReplyDeleteLallana needs to release the ball after all that fancy work!
ReplyDeleteIt'll come :) he's looked good tonight... he WILL be our new talisman
ReplyDeletei hope this dross doesn't run into ray donovan
ReplyDeleteI think so too
ReplyDeleteThink Pens.....
ReplyDeleteshudder to think of the derby now.
ReplyDeleteI dont get it either. Ibe would have turned the flanks to flames.
ReplyDeletewell everton are just as bad as us
ReplyDeletemissing barkley a lot
its the lack of quality tonight thats worried me ...especially in the final third
ReplyDeleteatleast they will be fresher having gone home earlier tonight.
ReplyDeletewe are at home
ReplyDeleteso they will have to travel : )
At last
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteSUSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletesuso 2 - 1 boro
ReplyDeleteno doubt rogers will say that was his plan with suso
ReplyDeleteHow are you so quick!!
ReplyDeleteSUUUUUUUUUUUSOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNot convinced. I think he is class. I have real concerns about lallana and wish we had stuck with Suso and spent 25 mill up front, personally. Hope I'm wrong.
ReplyDelete4.03 am here n still want to watch the team m8
ReplyDeleteam i the only one who is not jumping for joy at that goal ?
ReplyDeletei kinda wanted a penalty shoot up
ReplyDeletebut id take the win
