Liverpool may be on the verge of sealing a deal for AC Milan star Mario Balotelli, but Monaco striker Radamel Falcao reportedly remains Brendan Rodgers' top target, and FSG have allegedly sanctioned a massive deal for the Colombian goalscorer.
According to French radio station RMC:
* FSG have approved a season-long loan deal worth £12m (€15m).
* The contract will include an automatic £40m (€50m) purchase clause.
This follows a report last week in The Mirror, which claimed:
"Rodgers is prepared to wait until the last few hours of the window, and offer a year long loan deal, which would allow Falcao to keep his options open".
The ramifications of this are mind-boggling: A strike-force of Sturridge, Falcao, Balotelli, and Lambert, is arguably one of the best in the world, and if the Reds can pull off these deals, expectation will legitimately go through the roof. There are some issues to consider, though:
* It's not possible for Falcao, Balotelli, and Sturridge to play in every game, and it'll take some prodigious man-management to keep all three happy.
* Sturridge will have a major battle on his hands to keep his place. Is he up for the challenge, or will he feel alienated?
* Additionally, given the fact Falcao and Balotelli play centrally, will Sturridge be shunted out wide to accommodate them?
* If Liverpool take up the alleged option to purchase Falcao next season, where does that leave Origi? He'll have very little chance of making a dent with Sturridge, Balotelli, and Falcao ahead of him.
That said, there is one way Sturridge, Balotelli, and Falcao can fit into the same team:
----------------- Mignolet
Manquillo -- Skrtel -- Lovren ---- Moreno
----------- Gerrard -- Henderson
--------------- Sterling
------------------------- Sturridge
--------- Balotelli -- Falcao
It's a possibility, but not a very likely one. Falcao reportedly has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid, but he needs to wake up an realise that's not going to happen. There's no room for him at the Bernabeau, and I doubt Madrid will take a gamble on a player who's just recovered from a serious long-term injury.
Falcao should see the move to Anfield as a one-year shop window, and if he plays well - and stays injury free - then the Colombian can pursue the Madrid move next summer. of course, the hope would be that Falcao loves the Anfield experience so much that he'd want to stay.

I wouldn't be surprised if Brendan sets up similar to the way he did before the diamond, where one of the front 3 ie sterling is the one to track back and give more of a free role from the left for balotelli, interchanging with Sturridge! Think it could work well if balotelli can work on his pressing
ReplyDeleteThis makes no sense
ReplyDeleteWhere does that leave Coutinho?
ReplyDeleteJamie Rodgers wouldn't need to play every striker every match and each striker would provide something very different, against Chelsea esque sides Lambert and Falcao will have the quality dismantle the bus and against Arsenal esque sides Sturridge and Balotelli have the pace and power to bully the high line
ReplyDeleteProviding we get Falcao, of course
I imagine that Falcao's people, and Monaco perhaps toom are going to be a little gutted to miss out on the promised pay-day from Liverpool, which was ridiculous for a player who'd just spent a year out injured. I didn't see anyone else battering down Monaco's door, either. Sounds like they have pretty much halved their price already! Bunch of greedy babies.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I'd like to see us sign Falcao I just can't see it happening. He's got his heart set on a move to Madrid apparently and with us getting Balotelli as well I just don't think theirs room. We can dream though.
ReplyDeleteThat formation will get us killed on a counter. By the way have y'all realized the amount of press LFC is getting just because of Super Mario?? I am down but what if we go for Di Maria instead? I still say Marco Reus!
ReplyDeleteWasn't this reported by RMC before the Balotelli bid was accepted Jamie? Are we guilty of trying to increase click rate?
ReplyDeleteCoutinho has to play, for me he's our best player.
ReplyDeleteHa, told you Jaimie ;)
ReplyDeleteBR has gone absolutely mental. I love it...
ReplyDeleteNow they have Balotelli forget the strikers and find someone to replace Lucas who i think will be sold.
ReplyDeleteThat's the whole fun of it.
ReplyDeleteThis will not happen
ReplyDeleteI can't see this happening..! Anyway Falcao is holding out for Madrid, therefore I wouldn't want a money merchant joining the club for a season..we need players that want to be at the club long term. I'm hoping Mario knows this is his last chance at a big club and proves his worth..!
ReplyDeleteApparently his love for Madrid is not being requited so he might have to make do with Monaco for another 6 months unless LFC or some last minute shoppers come in for him
ReplyDeletehaha
ReplyDeleteJaimie,
ReplyDeleteIf this happens I'll take back everything I everything I ever said about you. ;-)
Seriously , this would be hard to manage with the egos involved.
It would mean Brendan has a serious balancing act and the strike force would have our rivals, when I say rivals I'm talking about Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona & Bayern Munich taking note.
I do not if we get that strike force, include Arsenal to be a rival as for United they don't count anymore.
I would imagine that at the point where we had these guys available, we'd have a rotation system.
We would have two players for each starting position.
I get the impression that Brenden is holding back on something else.
Personally I'd like us to go and get Khedira instead of Falcao or Di Maria.
Just think People we were after Mikytarian Salah and Willian and I like many of you on here were fuming we didn't get them.
NOW LOOK!
My cynicism tells me this wont happen and we'll end up with Eto not Falcao.
However it it happens and we have Sturridge Balotelli Falcao as a strike option we have NO excuses in not having a serious title challenge
thats why the deal is win win...forgot all that gumf about bad publicity sponsors love there name in the news regardless if Liverpool market balo right the deal will pay for itself the kid has massive appeal
ReplyDeleteagreed some people are talking up Lallana for Coutinho the only reason is that lallana is English.
ReplyDeletethe falco ship has sailed as far as im concerned and ill be surprised if any more strikers turn up ...i think the squad is on its limits of manageability and could do with losing a few faces if im honest ...if we are splashing out we need another goalie
ReplyDeleteYep, good stuff :-)
ReplyDeletevery well said
ReplyDeletePlay Coutinho in behind the main striker or tip of the diamond, anywhere central really and I honestly believe he'll be one of the best around in the next year or two.
ReplyDeleterogers will be under massive pressure to play llana after paying so much for him imo the system rogers will play when all are fit is
ReplyDeletehendo gerrard and llana with balo danny and sterling up front the defense picks itself....the two spanish fullbacks and skirtal and lovren in the middle
the bench will include can sako, tino, lazer.lambert allen etc for the first time in a long time we will actually have players who can alter a game on the bench
Can we have the title please?
ReplyDeleteSince you said please YES.
ReplyDeleteFalcao, sturridge and balotelli.....am i in dreamland? This is even better than the man city strike force.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Madrid won't come calling and we will be able to snap him up then. I was reading this morning though that once Di Maria is sold they'll move for Falcoa, I suppose it's all paper talk at this point.
ReplyDeleteyour name makes no sense...and you spelt it wrong...its pikee
ReplyDeleteA few rumours floating about Eto'o hope there is nothing in them he is finished as for Falcao dont need him another keeper and a decent defensive mid would round it off.
ReplyDeleteit leaves him in bed with your mama
ReplyDeletewhy don't you alter your stupidity...lambert change a game..that fool can barely change his own socks
ReplyDeleteTrue! No such thing as bad publicity
ReplyDeletenot as much as I love you mama
ReplyDeleteThis RMC radio station report is three days old. As such, the story arguably bears zero credibility after the latest Balotelli developments.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, goal.com simply made up a lie and reported that Eto'o underwent a medical and received tons of attention for it.
Seems like Jaimie has learned the lesson. First the "Major blow, LFC unable to complete Balotelli deal ...." headline, which was grossly misleading and now this piece.
I will quite this website for good and will only read the Echo from now on. Bye.
except when its you mama
ReplyDeleteThis was a story 3 days ago (see the date on the RMC article). Won't happen, end of story.
ReplyDeleteon record a company may moan off record they see dollar signs ching
ReplyDeletethats what your mama said to me right before I pile drove her into obilivion
ReplyDeletewhy don't you sail to the edge of the world and when you get there don't stop
ReplyDeleteIn other news, Joao Carlos Teixeira has scored his second goal in as many starts. Sami seems to be doing well with him. We will regret it if we let him go. Wisdom has also looked solid against our nemesis Tadic.
ReplyDeleteHow old are you? Twelve?
ReplyDeleteno.. twenty one and you have a little brother or sister on the way as well....I'll be you new daddy
ReplyDeletewho deleted my comment???????????????????? god damn censorship
ReplyDeletei'm going to go outside and pratice keepy uppy with my neighbours kitten
ReplyDeleteThats sexual harassment.
ReplyDeleteshut up trolling around. wayne rooney's secret admirer...hah...
ReplyDeletei'll be as gentle as I can be
ReplyDeleteI just can't see Falcao happening if we get Balotelli. That's 3 top quality strikers and with Lambert and Borini we would have 5 strikers who would be expecting at least some game time. I also worry about the effect on Sturridge. Think he's really excited about being the leading man this season since Luis left and bringing in Falcao along with Balotelli isn't exactly the biggest vote of confidence.
ReplyDeleteAnd so has Fanny :-)
ReplyDeleteYou could remove Henderson and add coutinho to play alongside sterling in an even more attacking formation.
ReplyDeleteA defensive midfielder is a must considering how dangerously potent are all other teams in the EPL. I dont see Lucas providing cover, he seems to have lost it and just cannot keep up with the pace. Out of the other 4 Emre Can, Allen, Henderson and Gerrard, only Can is made up for that role. Look at chelsea and city piling on the DM's on the picth once they have the lead to close out the game and get the result. I tell you this league is dangerous and Pool are living dangerously without Suarez.
ReplyDeleteBrad Jones is zilch and another keeper like Romero is a must.
In the attack Balotelli, Sturridge and Lambert should be fine. But looking at the temperament of Mario and the fatigue of Daniel and the amount of games to be played this season, Lambert alone is not the solution. So Eto'o (although i dont want him) for a season.
no we wont he will get more games
ReplyDeleteand a higher transfer fee
He scored the Winner,
ReplyDeleteRubbish, this won't happen, some of these hacks just write anything.
ReplyDeleteSome italian rumours that Napoli will loan Lucas for 2m and then 10m to buy next summer. If that's true then new DMF is must. Song?
ReplyDeleteReally happy for Teixeira and Sami! I'm from Finland so really warms me to see them starting to win games.
I agree Lallana will play more often than not but I don't see it being at the expense of Coutinho. Both Lallana and Coutinho can play wide so I think one will play wide, the other central. Just my opinion...
ReplyDeleteWe should send Suso on loan to Leicester or Burnley. Those teams are so lacking in creativity that they would take him in a heartbeat. Illori might be handy to them as well.
ReplyDeletethis would be the dumbest move ever
ReplyDeletesanchez enjoy losing , haha!
ReplyDeleteliverpool will win the title
Now I get why Alexis did not join Liverpool. He is a wise man. He knew he would never show up at Liverpool.
ReplyDeletewould have been perfect for us
ReplyDeleteaccording to the echo his wife said she will only leave spain for london
so i can't blame him the missus comes first
but what annoyed me was the arsenal fans love in and how they quickly forgot the 5-1 loss and said they were bigger then us
Would love it if Balo outshines him...
ReplyDeletetino for all his tricks wastes more balls than a vasectomy surgeon
ReplyDeleteWould prefer Reus at this point.
ReplyDeleteWe have our strikers. And Falcao will simply cost too much in my opinion, especially since he has his heart set on Madrid. A one year stop gap for a player recovering from a knee injury.
If we didn't have Balotelli, my opinion would be different on Falcao.
i agree he is after about 8 others
ReplyDeletethe one thing that balo also offers is he is excellent in the air
ReplyDeletehe is joining arsenal apparently
ReplyDeletethis is annoying that is why i am getting so much joy from everton stuffing them
not sure about balotelli anymore
ReplyDeletebony was impressive vs burnley
The way they have behaved and the way they present themselves makes every other team's fans hate them with a passion. They used to be a team with good values but that has gone totally out of the window.
ReplyDeleteLest we not forget, his penalty taking skills are second to none.
ReplyDeletewell if he looks good against burnly that seals the deal
ReplyDeletedislike them more then man utd i am not lying
ReplyDeletei dont really care for everton maybe if i lived in liverpool i would have
but arsenal is the club i can't stand
when i look at balotelli my eyes hurt
ReplyDeleteit will be hard to watch the whole match with him there
Same here. There is something about them that I just do not like. I used to hate Man Utd under RedNose but now that they have slipped back, they are bearable.
ReplyDeleteI would not be surprised if LFC get Falcao now that we Balotelli
ReplyDeletegood for arsenal i say ...im not bothered who they sign to be honest im all for the best players coming to the prem
ReplyDeletei genuinely dont want another striker i think balo sterling, danny and lambert is adequate with the system we play as you can always move llana tino and lazer up there i would sooner keep ibe and give him a run
ReplyDeletei would rather the league be at the level of dutch and porrugeese if it meant us winning every year like ajax and benfica
ReplyDeletei think a player lfc should monitor is juan itrubbe
ReplyDeleteif he does well in roma
also kevin volland
for next season
dont forget origi is at anfield next year as well
ReplyDeleteand jordon ibe if does well on loan
ReplyDeleteIt would be a 2 striker attack each player sitting out a certain amount of games each season, this will make ds step his already brilliant game up to another level, if he can't he will be dropped like any other member of the team. The team is not about ds or mb or rf , it's about winning and if the best combination turns out to be mb and rf then that's the way it has to be
ReplyDeleteoh no!
ReplyDeleteWould be a bit real madrid-esque. Makes no sense but we would have a totally amazing attacking force. The EPL championship and at least CL semi final would be close with this signing! Even a thought of it makes me laugh.
ReplyDeleteThis initially made no sense but on second thoughts, if we do get Falcao, this is how I see the squad shaping up....
ReplyDelete2 strong strikers - Falcao / Lambert
2 pacy strikers - Sturridge / Balotelli
2 creative midfielders - Coutinho / Lallana
2 pacy midfielders- Sterling / Markovic
2 centre midfielders with insane stamina - Henderson / ?
3 holding midfielders - Gerrard / Allen / Emre Can
2 left backs - Moreno / Enrique
3 right backs - Manquillo / Flanagan / Johnson
2 left centre backs - Lovren / Sakho
2 right centre backs - Skrtel / Toure
3 keepers - Mignolet / ? / Jones
Players leaving - Agger, Lucas, Assaidi, Borini
I am really worried that if Hendo get's injured, the team will fall apart. We need a backup for him. Somebody that can run for days. Names that come to mind are Vidal, Moutinho, Candreva, Milner
i would not write his career off
ReplyDeletei remember ramsey went on loan to cardiff
after his major injury
i believe trexeiras back injury has stunted his development a lot
Doesn't Falcoa have a worse injury record than Sturridge? If so there may be ways of keeping them happy but it would take rotation and like Jaimie said dome excellent man management. Phhhh it will take that just to get Balotelli sorted.
ReplyDeleteDay dream over, this won't happen.
I think real madrid will buy falcao after they sell di maria ,they will have the money
ReplyDeleteUpdate: Luis Alberto is currently La Liga's top scorer - as if he was loaned out!
ReplyDeleteHis price has just gone up ;-)
ReplyDeletehas he scored 3 own goals
ReplyDeleteEmre Can can run for days and Allen also has a very good engine.
ReplyDeleteLallana can also play in the two ahead of Gerrard as well as Coutinho. We have many options. If Lucas leaves then maybe we will chase another CM before the window shuts but then there is also the option of giving young Rossiter a chance.
...that worked didn't it.
ReplyDeleteReports out of Italy saying Lucas is going on loan to Napoli with an option to buy.
ReplyDeleteAlso, news has it that Di Maria is off to UTD for a fee in the region of £55m. Talk about overpaying :-o
the premier league has 5 teams that would win the league in every other league bar the spanish and german
ReplyDelete55m! Overpaying's an understatement. Great player but come on! I read the same about Lucas to be fair once Can arrived I couldn't see where Lucas would fit in. Allen's improving also...
ReplyDeletewe should sign schniderlin in january or summer
ReplyDeletedi maria does nothing for me and is 20m tops
ReplyDeletewatched arsenal today
ReplyDeletesanchez looked like aspas
while ozil looked nothing like he did for germany
sterling better
ReplyDeleteGutted to know that our rivals who aren't in any European competition can still attrack the best players. Liverpool definitely should've bought Di Maria instead of Lallana and Markovic (£45 million).
ReplyDeleteWatching Chelsea game and seeing how they have world class players all across the pitch worries me. Would be surprised if they or City don't win PL. Still not ruling out Liverpool or Arsenal and maybe even Manu.
i heard from a few sources that Sanchez isnt all hes cracked up to be ..if he was why was he sold
ReplyDeleteway better for me....i think rogers may well be boosting his squad with the hind site that big bids will come in for sterling next year
ReplyDeleteStill early days for him but yeah I think the pace and physicality doesn't work for Sanchez.
ReplyDeletebarcaloena fans hated him the year before
ReplyDeletecould not stand him
like us with allen
basically
I hope not. If they have to sell then no less than 60 million
ReplyDeleteoverpaying by 35 m isnt being attractive its called being fleeced
ReplyDeleteFor that kind of money the mancs can have Di Maria. The transition for players from La Liga to EPL has proven to be a mountain to climb on many occasions. They are playing with fire.
ReplyDeleteluckily barca are ourt of it
ReplyDeleteand if we make top 4
i cant see any of chelsea or city bullying us
if he is so good why would real sell him
ReplyDeletelogic!
logan i really will have to stop agreeing with you its happening far to often
ReplyDeleteNever rule our Madrid. They would definitely look at Sterling as a replacement for Ronaldo. And they buy who they want.
ReplyDeletereal will not be able to believe there luck if they get 55m for this guy ....he just wont hack it in england
ReplyDeleteobviously i would not rule them out
ReplyDeletebut i see ronaldo there for a few more years
like us with borini
ReplyDeletellana is a proven english prem player who when fit will fit right in and lazer is a player who gives us another option which we have nether had
ReplyDeleteI really think Di Maria will hack it. Blistering pace and stamina. He's played well for Madrid all last season and in the world cup.
ReplyDeletei thought he was awful i the world cup
ReplyDeleteCan't see there being any truth in this. It makes no financial sense whatsoever. I think we'll add a back up keeper and we'll be done.
ReplyDeleteWe will have some proper players to come off the bench next season if a game needs changing. When was the last rind we had that?
wow man you are really down in the dumps
ReplyDeletei hope liverpool win at the etihad just to cheer you up
He got 35 goals/assists last season with Madrid
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm stuck here with crap all over me. Hopefully I can get out in time to watch city vs Liverpool match :)
ReplyDeleteBut really no, I guess I'm just worried that Liverpool are too inexperienced and will find it hard to hack it this season with European football. Reds all the way though Y.N.W.A
Never mind how Origi, Sturridge, Balotelli, Falcao and Lambert will all fit in. The best teams in the world do have such problems. Often you compliant of us not signing the best players then when we are linked with them you are crying over the exact opposite. We should try our level best to sign top players including Falcao until deadline day even if we get Balotelli. To make omelettes you need to crack egg's, stop moaning all the time.
ReplyDeleteOzil had 34 goal assists the season before he joined Arsenal.
ReplyDeleteDidn't think the Arse looked that good - Toffees the better team the most part but got sloppy and blew it after being two goals up . Think they will do well this season - as long as they finish below us ......
ReplyDeleteIf Madrid sell di Maria, they buy Falcao ...
ReplyDeleteTrue. Hopefully you guys are right about Di Maria. Don't want Manure in top 6 :)
ReplyDeleteIndeed. Definitely worth 30 million now :-$
ReplyDeleteHealthy Bony may be a better bet than a recovering Falcao and should be less expensive and is younger.....
ReplyDeleteIf Di Maria signs for United for €65m where will he play, he is wasted as a wingback and Mata RVP and Rooney have the ST/CAM spots secured?
ReplyDeleteBut if United go ahead with this than Madrid will probably get Falcao
Coutinho isn't consistent, yet. Lallana is older and you know what you're getting when his on the pitch, with Coutinho you don't know. Against Southampton Coutinho was average.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing Mario join Liverpool and Madrid not bothered about him, Falcao might change his mind about joining Liverpool. The loan part is definitely smart with that serious injury he had.
ReplyDeleteWhile Falcao would, in terms of talent and ability, be a great option, I just hope, to use the phrase, that it isn't a case of too many cooks. The 'soup' right now seems to be perfectly fine, but there is a need for strength in depth, given our aspirations. Players need to be aware that they will not play every game, and it is to their benefit that they don't in my opinion. Would they rather play sequential games in a row and risk injury or burnout or be fit for the duration of the season? Competition should produce what is best for the team, but will some players see that?
ReplyDeleteMario would be the ninth signing if am not mistaken... I think we have recruited enough, no need to go overboard... We just have to ship the likes of lucas, assaidi etc. Unfortunately Johnson won't be leaving, now that kelly is gone...
ReplyDeleteWhat strikes me about that kind of move is that it's a signal of intent. I agree that it's hard to come up with a line-up where all three players can be on the pitch at once, so having Falcao also in the team is almost like the club showing strength in the transfer market, or showing that we're just as good as Chelsea and City in terms of players on the bench. There were plenty of times last season where Dzecko wasn't first choice for City, something that is kind of nuts when you think about it. Adding Falcao to the Liverpool line up would be a bit like that. Just seeing a team sheet with one of Balotelli, Falcao or Sturridge on the bench is impressive, it's the sign of a big big club with talent to burn. It puts us up there with the top tier of Europe, not just a team with a smart manager capable of punching above their weight.
ReplyDeleteAs for the formation ... I think a simple 4-3-3 would do it. I wouldn't have Sterling in midfield, probably Lallana or Coutinho. Sturridge is a right sided player and is very effective there. Balotelli is quite capable on the left, he has pace to put the ball behind defenders and chase it down. I have no idea about Falcao, but he's clearly going to be a skilled player and South American strikers are rarely just goal scorers. The general idea is that no player in the attacking trio has a fixed position or role, they can all change position in an instant. That's what really hurts the defenders.
I recon Bàlotelli will be our last first team signing for the summer
ReplyDeletepersonally i think having sturridge, falcao and balotelli would create more problems than solutions. i read that we were linked with aleksandar mitrovic of anderlecht who i think would be a really good option (who could be eased in in the first season and then replace lambert as a first team option next year when he will surely leave?). in addition we should sign another midfielder to replace lucas when he leaves (and to push allen further down the pecking order hopefully) and a backup gk (romero?) and i'd be more than happy. ship johnson out asap and that will feel like a new signing in itself.
ReplyDeleteB Rodgers should forget Falcao(28) as now Manchester United are signing Di Maria(26) for £48-£53M, that will give Real Madrid the clout to buy Falcao(28) Of Monaco
ReplyDeleteAs he has been waiting for Real Madrid all along, B Rodgers needs to bring in M Reus(25) Of B Dortmund for £23-£28M
And then our attack for now and the future will be sorted
And we could have M Reus(25) and M Balotelli(24) for a combined total of £44M Still £4-£9M cheaper than one Di Maria(26) is costing Man United.
And B Rodgers will need to more positions to fill before the transfer window closes:
1:A Class quality GK to challenge and compete with S Mignolet(25) and keep him on his toes week in week out:
A Mccarthy(24) Of Reading or Romero(27) Of Sampdoria for £4-£7M
2: An Athletic mobile class quality defensive enforcer/midfielder to protect the back four a player in the mould of Mascherano(30) and Momo Sissoko(30)
E Capoue(26) Of Tottenham Or C Tiote(28) Of Newcastle for £6-£9M
Those two players need to be brought to the club along with M Balotelli(24) and M Reus(25) and then our club and B Rodgers will be set for Now and Future
Whilst B Rodgers needs to still ship out these 7 players this summer:
B Jones (32) GK S Coates(24) CB K Toure(34) CB
G Johnson(29) RB L Leiva(27) DM O Assaidi(25) RW / RWF
F Borini(23) FD
I agree. Now continho is a great talent.
ReplyDeleteBut he's physically very small and Rodgers must know he can be bulled out of some games. Which is why he can be great some games, and seemingly not there on some occasions
He isn't like sterling, small and strong.
Lallana gives an option in games continho won't work in
germany had 5 teams which won the title since last 11 or so years.. in england it was onli 4..
ReplyDeletethis would be fantasy football.
ReplyDeletebut I think Liverpool did win the CL in Rafa's first season after we "lost" our top striker. To lose a top striker seems to be a bi-annual event at Anfield.
to respond by signing 3 International strikers (Colombian, English and Italian) is eye-watering enough, but BR will only pick 2 at a time.
the more important signings (I think) have been Lovren and Markovic - anyone supporting Liverpool before the 90's will understand why.
I think you are bang on.
ReplyDeletethe 7 to "ship out" are definitely the 2nd string and Lucas & Borini (fingers x'd) are imminent sales.
I'd give Coates one more chance (year), even if our top 4 CB's are: Agger, Lovren, Skrtel & Sakho - Coates OR Illori will replace Agger.
The 'MoneyBall' maneouvres at Anfield suggest Reus would be an eventual target and Falcao is paper talk (see Eto'o for evidence).
Liverpool may be going back to their old school of secret transfers you don't know until they sign them. Google: "Mathias Pinto"
Trevor,
ReplyDeleteS Coates(24) is not good enough at all for the club neither is K Toure(33), if they were B Rodgers would not have spent £47M on three centre backs since his reign at club: Llori(20), Lovren(24) and Sakho(24).
Four more players in and we are set: £60M
Attackers: Balotelli(24) and M Reus(25) for combined total £44M
Defensive players: A Mccarthy(24) and E Capoue(26) Of Tottenham for combined total of £16M
The 7 players i mentioned we should ship out should bring in £30-£35M when they are sold out right ( After some of their loan destinations)
Trevor, B Rodgers should not waste any more time on Falcao(28) , £12M for loan for player who has just come back from huge injury.
ReplyDeleteWill he be the same player? Will he adapt to the premiership?
B Rodgers and I Ayre should pull out all the stops to sign M Reus(25) Of B Dortmund in next 6 days for £23-£28M
And then we will be set :
We could have two very strong attacking line ups :
Attack 1:
Markovic Sturridge Sterling
Coutinho
Balotelli Lambert Reus
Lallana
Falcoa is the best striker in the world -fantastic - were 1 0 down half time - hope I am wrong but fear we will not score - thus we desperately need Falcoa
ReplyDeleteStats show likes of Falcao and Huntelaar are goals for game the best strikers playing top flight football. Yes, I fantasized about a Falcao frontline, but perhaps.....
ReplyDeleteI am rose-tinting an A. Madrid dynamo and not the Monaco stalwart. At £24m (wage+loan) it was a wrong'un.
Man U have to pull out all the stops to go 7th to 4th, while Liverpool are closing a 2 point gap (finishing place). Now dust has settled, the missed opportunities appear to be:
BOJAN KRKIC at £3m
(which we should have got wind of during Suarez deal)
DANNY WELBECK at £16m
(Man U-Liverpool transfers are rare, but he rarely got to play centre forward and does not disappoint on a Wing)
As I understood it, Liverpool had £50m for Rodgers before Suarez, so that was £125 + £15m (Coady, Kelly, Robinson, Reina and Agger). Rodgers spent: £115m.
Many Arsenal/Chelski led papers will contradict, but £140m received versus £115m spent is not bad. £25m on Falcao - funny how Man U outlaid that amount, eh?
With Borini (£12m), Lucas (£8.5m) and John Glenson (£10m) possible January sales and Valdes (Free) that could mean £25m + £30m (sales) to spend in 2015.
So there will be room for one marquee signing and a squad player OR four squad players. Even if no one gets sold there is £25m + ECL £ to buy a good'un.
Fabergas would have been perfect at £30m. I like the sound of Reus, as best deals come under the radar for Reds these days, but the money is definitely there for it.
I'd like to see a bid for Aaron Ramsey in 2015 though! It is ambitious, but someone special will need to come in for Gerrard. As I am not sure if Hendo is enough now.
Trevor, Falcao(28) Before his injury was banging in goals for fun and a beast.
ReplyDeleteBut will he ever be the same player again?
Who knows? And its huge gamble Van Gaal has taken? He has just come back from serious injury to commence battle in the quickest and most physical league in Europe.
B Rodgers only mistake this transfer window is the fact he did not bring in recognized specialist DM and he did not pull out all the stops to sign M Reus(25) Of B Dortmund.
