Photo Proof: Exciting £6m star in Liverpool to sign for LFC after rejecting Arsenal. Medical done

Spanish right-back Javier Manquillo is due to undergo a medical at Melwood today ahead of a two-year loan deal, and as the following photo seems to prove, the youngster is in Liverpool, which means the deal will surely be announced sooner rather than later.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo yesterday:

* Liverpool have agreed a 2-year loan deal for Manquillo.

* The deal includes an option to buy for €7.5m (£6m).

* The youngster said goodbye to his team-mates at 9am on Monday.

* Manquillo has allegedly rejected Arsenal to sign for LFC.

Well, this photo of Manquillo and an LFC fan seems to confirm the above:

Manquillo's basic stats for Atletico Madrid:

* Passing accuracy: 73%
* Headed duels: 83% success
* Tackle success: 59% (higher than Johnson and Flanagan)

This is based on just three La Liga appearances, though, so it's hardly persuasive. Still, at this stage, any new right back is preferable to Glen Johnson, so bring it on.

  1. I genuinely am not in a position to comment on this kid as I've never seen him play. He sounds like he ticks all the boxes and the fact we've got a try before you but deal is a good bit of business by the club IMO.
If Glen Johnson NEVER plays for us again it'll still be too soon. Utter liability defensively, but more than that what drives me nuts about him is what I perceive to be a complete lack of effort, mixed with what seems to me to be complete ambivalence about our results. Sooner he's gone the better

  2. GJ might have had a better tackle % but that would imply that he actually tracks back to make a defensive tackle. Any videos of him tracking back to play defense can be found next to the catalog of grainy Sasquatch videos.

  3. Any truth to the rumor in Tuttosport that we offered PSG 18M for Lavezzi?

Reports are stating that we are willing to offer Suso + 16M for Alberto Moreno... Madness. I'd rather lose Allen and Lucas but definitely not Suso.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Don't have a clue about him or ever seen him play, but I know he's better than Johnson.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I don't get this transfer..I just don't...

    ReplyDelete
  7. He looks good, attacking and dribbles well with good pace despite not playing many games. Haven't seen his defensive duties, but I can see why BR wants him

    ReplyDelete
  8. We're all better than Johnson.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Can your Nan play on the right as well?

    ReplyDelete
  10. B Rodgers is losing his mind i think, why would you want to lose the class, creativity Of Suso. Give the boy a chance, we have so many competitions this season. And he shows real class, promise and quality. Whereas Allen and Lucas always dissappoint, they are average football players who don't make us fans stand up as most of the things they do is basic. R Savage could do what they are doing week in week out and that's saying things.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Rodgers and the scouts are pretty average at finding fullbacks imo. When the season ends the first thing you do is look at what was your biggest weakness and fix it first. Fullbacks was obviously ours yet waited so long and let other clubs but the decent ones. Liverpool should've signed Debuchy before Arsenal or Serge Aurier before PSG. And at LB it's obvious Ricardo Rodriguez is the real deal but we never even tried to get him.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Its only on loan though we are not losing him.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I believe it is only a loan deal for Suso.

    ReplyDelete
  14. They have to have offers for a few right backs surely.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Since i lost me wooden leg i have really struggled but i do try hard.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Have to say after last nights shambles we still have a very long way to go and the two FB positions are absolute priorities. I liked Kelly but he is just awful now. Enrique is constantly injured and a liability defensively anyway. Flanno is just Flanno (solid but never going to be a top player). The less said about Johnson the better, I mean seriously I could play better in spirit.
Of course we need a top striker, I would go for Falcao now. I know he won't be cheap but he returned from injury and scored the winner against Arsenal last weekend so worth a shot.
Other than that Gerrard needs to be a sub and Lucas and Allen seriously need to just do one.
I feel my pre season positivity evaporating...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh yeah, my dear departed nan, she's pretty versatile. Might need a bit of mobility assistance getting up and down that wing mind, but still a significant upgrade on Johnson.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Probably because Suso is never going to get ahead of Stirling, Lallana, Markovic, Coutinho, Ibe.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anybody else think we should send Lambert back to Southampton? It's like having Carroll back after it took us so long to get rid of him the first time! We're not a crossing team and Lambert obviously has no pace, plus last night showed he's poor at shielding the ball and average at passing.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Let's not kid ourselves here. He only "rejected" Arsenal because they have too much competition in that position. Whereas at Liverpool he'll be a guaranteed starter over Johnson...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Spot on, he rejected Arsenal because they signed Debuchy while they were in talks with Manquillo and he knew he wasn't going to start in front of him. At Liverpool he is as good as nailed on to start.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I have criticised him before but I think his mobility has improved a bit from the previous games. I think he is struggling mentally but he also really needs to get fitter and quicker if that is possible but at least it was £4M not £35M :-/

    ReplyDelete
  23. Can't see him ever getting quicker if I'm honest. Think perhaps he might do OK against the likes of Leicester, QPR, Burnley etc but there is no way in a million years he is going to have an impact in the CL or big PL matches.

    ReplyDelete
  24. he s a hard worker but hardly scored for PSG and at 29 there s not a lot of chances he ll drastically improve, rather look at someone else.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I assume so because he hasn't played in either of the last 2 matches. You know your in dire straights when Enrique is the best FB at the club.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't quite understand the obsession this site has with trying to promulgate the myth that every signing Liverpool make is on the back of the player rejecting Arsenal. Quite clearly, Arsenal were never in for him- they've signed Debuchy and Chambers and - on the back of those signings - have loaned Jenkinson. Sanchez chose Arsenal over Liverpool. Get over it and move on.

    ReplyDelete
  27. if hes here we should go with him and give him a good run off games otherwise its pointless rogers signing him .....what i dint want is for him to have a good game and then be dropped as we normally do with young players

    ReplyDelete
  28. He's a superstar in the making. What a signing coup for Rodgers, this is the one all Liverpool fans have been waiting for. Absolutely brilliant, he'll walk into the starting 11 and instantly make us a better team. I'm massively excited, any lingering doubts about Rodgers in the transfer market are totally abolished in my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Suso should be ahead of Ibe, except pace he hasnt shown a lot (suso got a couple goal without playing a lot). Ibe just run, try to take on the entire team then loose the ball. looks like the pressure of having a better end product has gotten to his head and he doesnt pass the ball anymore. he should still be around the squad and get cup games though.

    ReplyDelete
  30. This is probably the second time Arsenal have been mentioned on here. Maybe three times, there would have been at least one article on that 5-1 thrashing from last season. Yeah, we're obsessed with Arsenal.

Love those BT ads on telly, they're brilliant aren't they?

    ReplyDelete
  31. i see what you're doing, and i love it. well done.

    ReplyDelete
  32. i hope not as hes vastly overrated

    ReplyDelete
  33. apparently wenger wouldn't give him game time assurance and rogers has.Im not sure how that works to be honest sure give him a run of games but if hes crap hes out

    ReplyDelete
  34. Let's be honest ANYTHING is better than Johnson. I cannot believe that he is still here AND being selected. I really must be missing something with this guy. The only thing I can hope is that the guy coming to cover him is , in reality, to replace him and if we can't prise Johnson's fingers off the gate he will be the new guy's cover.

    ReplyDelete
  35. ill be honest we dont have a good history with loan signings look at sahin and cissoko and they had more experience than this kid but i hope it works out as im sick of our plodding sicknote fullbacks

    ReplyDelete
  36. Agree with you about Aurier but not about Debuchy. I think he is just average and just becuase Arsenal fans are in a dream world with Sanchez do they think that Debuchy is world class.

    ReplyDelete
  37. He is supposed to come on the pitch in the last 30ish minutes and wait for those crosses which will be inevitable when someone parks a bus, and many will.

    ReplyDelete
  38. You also have to take into account that Ibe is only 17 where as Suso is 20.

I cant wait to see what Ibe will be like in another 3 years

    ReplyDelete
  39. But, we have never had a loan like this. It is the same contract as the one KT has and we can buy him permanently as well. He is basically ours.

    ReplyDelete
  40. lets cut to the chase your saying sissoko was no good

    ReplyDelete
  41. Am I missing something here, who is KT?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Suso will be worth 25 in a year or two- hope that isn't true.

    ReplyDelete
  43. he look good on youtube ;-)
in all seriousness he'll be fine. the only question is will he get enough game time to prove himself - i'm guessing not

    ReplyDelete
  44. thats my concern i remember wisdom and suso having a run playing as well as anyone and then being dropped for no real reason

    ReplyDelete
  45. haha i couldnt work it out either i was gonna say kathy tibbens the tea lady

    ReplyDelete
  46. To go and get some constant playing time.

    ReplyDelete
  47. In an ideal world, Flanno and Manquillo will be the RB's and Moreno and Enrique will be the LB's. But, sadly, we do not live in an ideal world.

    ReplyDelete
  48. but at the time orme they where playing well enough to keep there spot i think wisdom had one bad game

    ReplyDelete
  49. But given his age it was expected he could just vanish and we started to feel as title contenders and that was job for someone more experienced(if not better)- someone as Johnson.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hope you will post a link to this comment in ten months adding- No,it was not irony...

    ReplyDelete
  51. thats my conern orme its like circular argument as Johnson is still here and stll being paid big wages will rogers succumb to the old school click

    ReplyDelete
  52. As I said before- I only hope BR is buying all these fullbacks knowing that GJ won't be here for Southampton game,,

    ReplyDelete
  53. We have what 25-30 players, and there was no way I could figure out who the hell is KT...

    ReplyDelete
  54. The only team that legitimately wants Johnson is QPR. Let's hope Harry follows through.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Johnson is on massive wages in comparison to his ability i hope im wrong but like reina i cant see it happening unless there is a world class idiot with a big cheque book

    ReplyDelete
  56. hell follow through in his pants when he see what wages hes on at anfield

    ReplyDelete
  57. There was a similar headline about Origi last week. Arsenal were ever in for him. No doubt there will be another one when Liverpool re-sign Peter Crouch.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I agree, debuchy is massively over rated. Pretty sure I remember Coutinho utterly tormenting him when we tonked Newcastle 6-1

    ReplyDelete
  59. Like Sid says- hope for QPR..

    ReplyDelete
  60. It's not this site but newspaper reports that link Arsenal with Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I don't like the abuse he is taking - YNWA doesn't always apply as much as it should. I'm definitely not directing this at you, but if soneone is playing badly then to say so is fine, but some of the twitter abuse he received disgusts me.

    ReplyDelete
  62. im not sure who are we talking about

    ReplyDelete
  63. Nicolas Chamberlain4:31 pm, August 05, 2014

That's good news, but only if they won't have an option to buy and that Suso will sign a new contract.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I agree with you, Lambert's biggest problem is in his head at the moment. Really hope he can get it together soon or his dream move will soon become a nightmare.
He's not the quickest but we've got bags of pace in our team. Lambert will be utilised when all our pace isn't working and a change of tactics is required

    ReplyDelete
  65. They are excellent. The first one they released is probably my all time favourite ad

    ReplyDelete
  66. That explains why I couldn't think of him...in my mind he doesn't exist...

    ReplyDelete
  67. i dont follow twiiter or facebook so i dont know but this is a football forum so if you think a player is rubbish its fair comment its nothing personall i base every comment on someone football ability thats all im bothered about

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yeah. As a Liverpool fan, I try to defend all our players as much as I can. Players like kelly,Aspas and Alberto are players who I still try to make a case for. But, Johnson is one of the highest earners in our team and while others are busting their gut, he is not doing anything. This is not personal but on a Liverpool basis. He represents the club which myself and millions of others love with all their heart and he just does not care about us.

    ReplyDelete
  69. i woke up this morning and read a sample of the twitter abuse of glen johnson. he's a good lad who is playing crap. i would say this is when we back him.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Amen. I don't follow any of that rubbish either

    ReplyDelete
  71. Go to the Arsenal site then and leave us in peace.

    ReplyDelete
  72. ill be honest phil i dont aim personeell abuse at anyone thats not my style but Gj is on 100g a week and just trots about, thats kind off insulting to fans who pay out to watch him who are on minimum wage circa around £5/6 an hour

    ReplyDelete
  73. he has the occasional (and costly) concentration issues, and to comment on that is fine, but a lot of what i read this morning really disappointed me. loads of players are overpaid, but i think this guy has tried his best. plus we're talking about a pre-season game. none of us know how tired these guys are form training...

    ReplyDelete
  74. Back him? Are you mad? He deserves no backing whatsoever IMO, in fact the only backing I would give him is straight out of the club.
The idiots on twitter are just morons but in reality the guy is useless and this is compounded by the fact he never looks like he is giving a shite. If he gave 110% every game I could accept that. Trouble is he doesn't and he's worse than my nan.

    ReplyDelete
  75. i know you don't. i repsonded to you for that reason :-) He itches off, but i think he cares 100 k a week or not

    ReplyDelete
  76. its not nice phil and i dont agree with it but they are paid well and it comes with the turf ...i work in sales phil and get face to face abuse for reasons beyond my control and get paid a lot less for the privalage

    ReplyDelete
  77. I earn 1 euro per hour and I pay two euros per beer to watch the game in a bar, so...

    ReplyDelete
  78. fair enough - but does your firm live by the YNWA motto? it's what makes us special. Sure if a player abuses that then fair enough they can have a go, but otherwise we should keep it dignified :-)

    ReplyDelete
  79. See, if somebody is spouting personal abuse and threatening his family, then that is not right. I am not a huge fan of twitter, facebook or whatever social media junk there is. I only go there for the views of James Pearce, Tony Barrett and Ben Smith. Personal abuse is not right. But, he deserves to be criticised for his football because he was the only dark spot in our amazing season last year. He was underwhelming for the enitre of last season.

    ReplyDelete
  80. you should expect effort or at least the personna of effort from players on a lottery win every week which the fans going through the turnstiles, buying the shirts, subscribing to the channels are funding

    ReplyDelete
  81. Manquillo was in a neck brace last season for a month after this fall. Seems like a tough young lad.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I hope he likes football more than GJ. When I see GJ play, I see a person who has lost interest in playing for the club.

    ReplyDelete
  83. He allegedly has some Jonjo style with couple of reds and penalties...

    ReplyDelete
  84. i get your point phil and im not condoning any abuse either on line or in person, but football evokes emotion and we live in a media age a lot of footballers use the media as a means to an end to try and get a move to try and pressure the manager ( like agger ) or get more wages ...so you cant have your cake and eat it its a lot easy to walk alone when your a multi millionare in fact you can fly alone usually in a private jet

    ReplyDelete
  85. Couldn't agree more he just doesn't every seem to enjoy it anymore. I would swap anything to be in his position and for that I cannot forgive him. Maybe he is too distracted by his maths degree.

    ReplyDelete
  86. AT TIMES LAT YEAR HE WAS LIKE AN ILLUSION ON THE PITCH

    ReplyDelete
  87. With people like Ashley Young and Wayne Rooney lurking around, I am worried if this is a characteristic of his play. Did you see Rooney's dive today?

    ReplyDelete
  88. I remember seeing this. OUCH!

    ReplyDelete
  89. he need a maths degree to work out his astronomical wages although the idiots who handed them out are the ones who are truly culpable

    ReplyDelete
  90. point taken, but i don't think johnson has ever given us reason to think he's a bell end. he's just not playing well

    ReplyDelete
  91. he looks like a good player to me - lets hope he gets a fair crack at playing for us

    ReplyDelete
  92. if im honest phil thats all im bothered about i have no favorites on the playing front if they play well i say so if they play crap i say so

    ReplyDelete
  93. i agree. i like your posts for that reason. the donald duck washing cars was a recent favourite!!!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I was about to say something I no doubt would regret...

    ReplyDelete
  95. i actually like Kt but i cant resist it

    ReplyDelete
  96. FFS. I need a neck brace for just viewing that pic. Sending you the doctor bill, Logan.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Maybe he should put his maths degree to better use and work out the following = crap at football plus don't give a shit = get out of LFC

    ReplyDelete
  98. Watch the actual video clip :-o

    ReplyDelete
  99. there seems to be something fundamentally wrong with the club where we have to offer crazy wages to make then resign. In the papers today we are offering tino a 25% rise fron the 50 g he is on ...hes had a good preseason but has he improved so much.we are putting the entire future of the club at risk, i look at the team and if llana 25m lazer 20m sterling sturridge hendo gerrad can allen are all fit will tino actually get in the team and if so at whose expense lazers or llana who we have splashed 50m on crazy business

    ReplyDelete
  100. Does anyone think that BR played GJ on the wrong side deliberately to highlight the teams need in strengthening the position to the board? It seemed it was the same as last season. Oh, and when will Mignolet actually make a save? He looks worse and worse each performance I see.It seems like open season on our goal, we have to expect that there will be periods of the game when the other team will have the ball and there seems to be no plan in place but panic and let them score. I can't see its a personel thing its got to come from the coaching staff.

    ReplyDelete
  101. And another thing all these young players in the squad, seems to me these faces are going to be around a while while the clubs money gets used to build the stadium.

    ReplyDelete
  102. It's not losing that is so worrying but out toothlessness up front. With moreno an manquillo wee may be good at full back but skrtel made his usual errors in the back leading to rooney goal n lambert cant do the job alone. Danny will be injured multiple times a season an top 4 will be a big ask this year without another striker an the hopeful pairing of lovren n sahko at the back. Skrtel can't a trophy winning team

    ReplyDelete
  103. Well said but there are other players who need to be shown the door: D Agger, O Assaidi, F Borini, B Jones and P Reina.

B Rodgers needs to bring a GD Gk to compete with S Mignolet(25) as apart from being great shot stopper, he is poor at everything else and no point implementing passing at back to front when if S Mignolet(25) is pressured he is more likely to kick it out of touch or back to opposition

    ReplyDelete
  104. The point about Suarez is that when he was in the team other players used the the opositions fear to make space an made us more a threat. You just sit on Lambert our Danny an they're done. Or take the ball of Danny when he tied to do alone. Point is Suarez added the fear factor an other players intensified it, like raheem. I am pessimistic because without a crazy high scoring front line our def mistakes will get its this year worse than losing title by a few points

    ReplyDelete
  105. That comment right there brightened my spirits thanks

    ReplyDelete
  106. What about Jesse, cavani, Bernar

    ReplyDelete
  107. Cant get excited about this guy - suspect the lad we got on a free from Spurs will be better -Seen clips of E Levessi -TOO OLD and I think he will struggle with Premier League - POOR POOR choice.. Come on B R you have had 15 months to find a Suarez replacement - this guy is no better than average.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Barcelona bid for Vermaelen

Cross him of the list :-)

    ReplyDelete
  109. I will once I reach the level of sousedness required to do so without shrieking like a schoolgirl at the show-and-tell portion of an arachnid enthusiasts convention.

    ReplyDelete
  110. tbh, he could be an utter flop but at least we haven't paid a fee as of yet. I like the try before you buy policy, especially because if he does turn out to be very talented we get at least two seasons for just his wages and maybe a set loan fee.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Peppy Ranyner has gone - good

    ReplyDelete
  112. Mignolet isn't better then Pepe even when he have a off day Pepe never let in 50 goals in for a season. Pepe still is at age 31 his the best kicker of the ball and I'll take him over Mignolet anytime. Roger is stupid manager and we won't see Europe next season

    ReplyDelete
  113. Can't see Abramovich signing him in all honesty:-)

    ReplyDelete
  114. Hey Hey Ash's Nan is after his spot but could your nan fill in at left back?

    ReplyDelete
  115. It's ok. You can have the young rb we will have Sanchez who rejected you ;)

    ReplyDelete
  116. no pressure on him anyone is better then glen johnson

    ReplyDelete
  117. why do we always keep aiming for the uninspiring.. sigh. we must be having the money to snag a big one here. if everton can drop close to 30 million on lukaku without batting an eyelid surely we can get a player that matches our club's level and ambitions.

    ReplyDelete
  118. i love watching suso play. shades of david silva there.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Not a BR type of player , sorry

    ReplyDelete
  120. lol, i hope he could count the number of times he lost possession and misplace passes and caught out of position and not tracking back and the wage he is drawing weekly and the number of months left in his contract

    ReplyDelete
