Slap in the Face? BR names massively disappointing Roma line-up, with £45m worth of new talent ignored

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has named a hugely uninspiring line-up for the club's prestige pre-season friendly with Roma.

FULL TEAM: Jones, Kelly, Skrtel, Coates, Enrique, Lucas, Allen, Coutinho, Borini, Lambert, Ibe.

SUBS: Ward, Agger, Henderson, Can, Suso, Coady, Phillips, Robinson, Peterson.

I really don't get the thinking here.

* Lucas and Allen together again? What is the point?! There is nothing new to learn from that partnership.

* Why not play Jordan Rossiter, or Conor Coady? Give these youngsters some worthwhile experience, damn it! After all, it's only a friendly, and the chances of those players getting game time in the upcoming season is extremely slim.

* Lallana and Markovic both missing from the match-day squad? Why? LFC fans are desperate to see these players in action, and I don't believe that they're so unfit that they're unable to make subs bench.

* Markovic has been training with the first team, and he's 20 (!), so he'll be full of energy, and probably desperate to play. Jordan Henderson played significantly *more* than Lallana in Brazil (and in theory, needs more recovery time), yet he still manages to make the subs bench.

* Why not play Agger instead of Coates? Are we to believe that Rodgers genuinely sees the Uruguayan as a regular first-team option next season? If that was the case, he wouldn't be trying to sign Dejan Lovren.

I'm sure Liverpool's US-based fans were looking forward seeing Lallana and Markovic in action, but they'll have to make do with scintillating players like Allen, and Martin Kelly.

It's good to see Jordon Ibe in the first XI, but he and Coutinho aside, the team is pretty uninspiring. The fans don't even get the consolation of seeing the likes of Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, or Raheem Sterling in action.

As a comparison, consider Man United's first pre-season game of their US tour, which is taking place at the same time.

* Rooney, Mata, Shaw, Welbeck, Jones, Smalling (all at the World Cup) and Herrera (new signing) are all starting the game.

* Other United first-teamers (including Kagawa and Nani) are on the bench.

* The LA Galaxy game is United's *first* of their pre-season; Liverpool had already played two going into the Roma match.

Why is it that Rooney, Herrera et al can play, but Lallana, Sterling, and Markovic can't?

Overall, it's a bit of a slap in the face for LFC's overseas fans, and the millions who'll be watching worldwide.

  1. When I seen that line up I just sighed, really disappointing. I'm sure we'll see a much more exciting line-up against Olympiacos

  10. This is precisely what I'm talking about. There will be fans coming from all over to watch these games, and for some, it will be the only time they'll ever get to see LFC play live. As such, Rodgers and the club should (IMO) be playing the best players wherever possible.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Anyone know if Henderson went back early like Lambert to start training? Other than him the entire squad is made up of players who've been around since the start of preseason. Rodgers isn't here to placate us with his lineups he's here to get his team ready to challenge on four fronts...all the players we wish were on the lineup have had less than a week of training since their holidays except Markovic. There's a difference between being fit and being match fit...I wish they were in there too, but the decision is perfectly logical and doesn't warrant any histrionics.

  12. We should not get too excited about the team selection. I'm sure the manager will give our offshore supporters a sight of our big players on the pitch and allow them pre & post match contact. We don't want any of them to suffer serious injury before our season even starts due to being improperly prepared to compete. We have heard of others getting broken feet after 20 minutes and Emre Can also being injured at Preston NE!

  13. A slap in the face ,? its the first game of a what 4 whats the big deal , maybe he is playing Coates to see if it still worth having him as part of his long term plans , If he played Agger he gets injured people would complain why play Agger in in a friendly ,and we all know Agger has been struggling with injuries over the last few seasons, Im sure if the world cup hadn't disrupted Rogers pre season then im sure you might see the likes of sterling , sturridge etc , we have a long season ahead why rush everything now just to make the fans happy , Pretty sure Rogers has his reasons so we should support them reasons

  14. There are still three games in the space of less than a week, thinks its just a case of working on formations in a few extra training sessions with the others before he bloods them. Plus a few youngsters on bench to show their worth as well as a few that are in the shop window.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Being match-fit? It's a friendly! That's precisely what these games are for: getting match-fitness, so your comment doesn't even make sense. After the last game, Rodgers, and several other players publicly stated 'it's all about fitness' at this stage.

If Lallana et al need match-fitness, then they should be playing.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hey guys this only pre season!!! Brendan know what he's doin. some of the players are just going back from holiday. Dont want to risk them with injuries just like emre can last week. Relax guys, this is not champions league. This is just friendly. Cheer up!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yes, we should 'support' every decision the manager ever makes. Don't question anything; just nod our heads like sheep.

Thanks, but I'd rather have a mind of my own than just approve of every decision simply because that's what fans are supposed to do.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Injuries? This is such a poor excuse. Why play any players ever, then? Every time they stop on the field they're at risk from injury.

    ReplyDelete
  19. If they're not properly fit they could pull a hamstring or get some other type of injury - this isn't like the Preston game. I'm sure LFC's physios know what they're doing...can you think of any other reason they'd be left out of the squad? Do you think BR left them out just to disappoint us? If that doesn't make sense go ahead and suggest an alternative reason they were left out.

Shut it you fat ugly cunt.

    ReplyDelete
  23. How can they not be properly fit? If they're not fit, why are they training? The training is harder than the actual pre-season games (according to Rodgers), so they shouldn't be doing that if they're susceptible to injury.

    ReplyDelete
  24. lol ( ye barred )

    ReplyDelete
  25. I know right! lets just travel with the most expensive 11 players we have and play them for every single game including pre season friendlies, charity games and even kick abouts in the park.
Shut down the academy, sell all squad players and the bench.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Cheer up Can is on now...Borini off with a niggle

    ReplyDelete
  27. The only really odd choice for me is Borini. He really should be encouraged to sign for Sunderland. He is simply not going to cut it at Liverpool. 14m is a great deal for the club and for him. He should really not be given the wrong idea by being played, it's simply not fair on the guy. And it's wasting playing time for someone who has the potential to participate this season.

    ReplyDelete
  28. If you are watching the game Borini is off injured now...Can is on

    ReplyDelete
  29. Have you ever actually played this sport, or any sport? The pre-season training will be grueling physically, running etc, but it's not full contact, and if any portions of it are in Liverpool's case no one is going to risk hurting each other. They came back a few days ago, if they're not perfectly sharp yet the wrong tackle is far more likely to sideline them than it would be during the season. Did you see Emre Can at Preston? That's what BR is worried about. Michael Carrick is out for 3 months after 1 day of preseason, do you think they weren't fit? There are levels.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh, bravo. You managed to make Mark look like a total moron after he made a perfectly reasonable comment.

    ReplyDelete
  31. BORINI!!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Why on earth would you play your main players so early on in pre season? And what do we know of how the coaching team are thinking? As I said before the fringe players seem to be the ones he's testing out which at this stage makes complete sense. Yes it's disappointing not to see the top names but in away the fringe players could be spurred on to perform by the manager's trust in them, and in the coming season we will need our squad players as much as first teamers.

    ReplyDelete
  33. JK,
Completely agree with the article especially regarding Coates, and EITHER Allen or Lucas but not both! I can only assume playing these three serves only as an updated advertisement for prospective buyers and that's it. I am glad Kelly is starting. BR HAS to find out if Kelly has it or not. I like Kelly but his dreadful injury past requires complete inspection so we can fish or cut bait with real knowledge. I hope he and Flannagan are on the starting team rosters during the season and the likes of Allen, Lucas, and Borini have Coates, have been replaced by 4 big boy players or 3 big boys and 1 additional academy star like Texeira.
BTW, anything new on the Vidal (far fetched) rumors? Any idea if we are chasing swiss defender Rodriguez?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks for the update mate, not able to watch the match. All the more reason not to play someone the club is wanting to sell. Stupid. It's like agreeing to sell your car and then driving it the next day before getting the money and then crashing it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. You're just making 'toe the party line' excuses. Plus, your point here is negated by the fact that Lambert has started the last two games, a player who appeared at the World Cup, and is much older than both Lallana, and Markovic.

Again: if Henderson can make the bench, why can't Lallana and Markovic?

    ReplyDelete
  36. unlucky Borini (again)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Think with Borini it was a case of playing him against his former club to get more interest from the serie a clubs. Not sure he fancies sunderland and if he says he wants to stay then br was giving him match time before the newboys/established 1st teamers come into the next three games.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Not sure Lambert got much game time at world cup...just a holiday ;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Does anybody else think Lambert is wearing bricks on his feet?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Its a friendly lol ,Yeah well he is the manager of the club there's a reason why he is , he has the experience in his way of thinking you don't , its the first game of a hefty schedule who cares if we don't field our strongest team , i could understand your way of thinking if it was the first game of the season or a champions league but it isn't , Can i ask how many years of playing and coaching do you have

    ReplyDelete
  41. Does look like he's running through treacle a little....pace not his strong point

    ReplyDelete
  42. Lambert came back to preseason early, so he's ready...pretty much follows the formula. Henderson I have no idea, that's why I asked before if he went back early too. And dude, there is no party line, or excuses...there's simple facts. There are different degrees of fitness, you have to work to get to the point where you're ready for the next level up, whether that's a friendly or an EPL game, whatever. Every player is different as well, so it's hard to compare Henderson and the others. We can also assume that the Pool coaching and medical staff are taking all the factors into account and making a decision based on that. I don't agree blindly with everything BR does, I hate seeing Lucas play with Allen - I don't like seeing Lucas play period lately. But in this instance, I agree, based on logic. I'm having trouble following your logic though, still not sure why you think BR left out Lazar and Lallana.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Maybe he's played the guys who have been training the best. That's the standard method for picking a team and if some players haven't been with the team long enough or are not fully up to speed then they won't get picked. I think he's treated this like a competitive game and picked the team as he normally would. The list of players would indicate this - these are the guys who have been in pre-season from day 1 and would be most in tune with what the manager is trying to do.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Save Borini because he is already bid upon. Why screw around with him while using up precious time that could be allocated to someone we want to evaluate for the real EPL season?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Coates...that guy in white...you're supposed to stay near him.

    ReplyDelete
  46. If you're having trouble following my 'logic', then I submit that the issue is with you, not me. My point is unambiguously clear.

Your argument does not make sense. You insist that players are not match-fit enough to play, but that is precisely what pre-season is for! To get match-fit.

I see no reason why Lallana and Markovic couldn't be included on the bench. If they're injured, fair enough, but how could they be, and what are the odds that two of LFC's biggest signings get injured in training?

As far as I can see, there is no reason whatsoever that Lallana and Markovic couldn't be included on the bench, and get 10-15 mins each to build up their fitness.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Well not a separation, but I'm betting on rotator cuff.

    ReplyDelete
  48. well after this first half its clear he does not have it

    ReplyDelete
  49. Very uninspiring match so far. Everyone looks very sloppy and I guess it is pre season but I was expecting a bit more. Shouldn't have played Borini as now he's injured, not what we need. The sooner we have our first team back (next game) I predict brighter things.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The line up indicates that BR is trying to ascertain who he needs to get rid off before the start of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  51. George Hardaker1:30 am, July 24, 2014

I've been waiting all day hoping to see more of the new signings and BR said pre match that it was all aimed at the first game of the season, then i saw the line up my heart sank to my boots, the first half was so boring, nothing happened! apart from Kelly doing ok, and even Coates doing ok, other than that, no inspiration, let's hope it improves, couldn't get much worse!

    ReplyDelete
  52. On this showing that will be all of them:-)

    ReplyDelete
  53. yep that's it , i have coached for the last 8 years and my experiences have shown me its not always the case to play your best players from the get go in friendlies , its about giving other players a chance to show them selves , in case you do get injuries to your established players , i have had parents winging to me why dont you play your best players in friendlies you give your reasons but no , these monkeys with no experience think they know better ,so the next week i played my main striker who had been training hard but i still didnt think was ready to start a game , i send him out there and 10 minutes later he does his ankle and i lost him for 6 weeks , ive been at a team where i trained hard but never got a go , pre season friendlies always the best players were played , so i left to a local rival got my chance and ended up knocking my old team out of the cup with a man of the match display , when asked by my old coach gee what happened to you i said nothing always been good enough you just never gave me a go this is the reason why i disagree with this article

    ReplyDelete
  54. You make several contradictory arguments and seem to forget that this is primarily about getting players fit. Coates has been out for so long it makes sense for Brendan have a look at him. He knows what Agger can do, and apparently isn't very impressed, likewise Kelly needs to show what he can do before decisions are made.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Your opinion (valued as the next LFC fan) can be a bit negative or unrealistic at times Jamie..
mate pre-season is also about players fighting for their Liverpool futures ie Coates - and tactics ie Allen/Lucas - even more important than showcasing new talent... this is the type of line up that will determine whether or not we see Allen/Lucas on the park at the same time in the premier league, and whether Coates has a future with Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Cmon man give our beloved manager a break.
Are you blind or zero in your head?
He is actually given 5 to 6 players a last chance
to perform whether they are fit to be in this team.

    ReplyDelete
  57. After two years of working with Lucas and Allen, do you seriously believe that Rodgers needs this per-season to decide whether they can play together? Come on. If he doesn't know by now, then he's doing something wrong.

With the personnel in the squad, it is obvious that Lucas and Allen will not play together in most games, as that would mean either Gerrard or Henderson making way, and as last season proved, that just isn't happening.

    ReplyDelete
  58. looks like a goer, wink wink nudge nudge saynomore saynomore

    ReplyDelete
  59. PC is looking pretty solid too...just should have taken more time to line that rebound up.

    ReplyDelete
  60. None of this explains why Lallana and Markovic couldn't be on the bench, and get 10 minutes of pitch time. Like everyone else, you're just making excuses.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I am giving a hypothetical, you're ignoring the fact that they've had less preseason than the rest of the squad, so I'm trying to find out how much you think is enough.

I understand that YOU think it's illogical, but he did it...so why did he do it? A lot of other posters here seem to have an opinion on his reasoning, you're the writer I'd like to hear yours.

    ReplyDelete
  62. What are you going on about? I've said that, for me, there's no valid reason to leave them out. What's hard to understand about that? Whatever Rodgers' reasoning is, I don't believe it's valid.

The fact that Henderson is a sub shows there's no reason why Markovic and Lallana couldn't also be on the subs bench. He played every game at the World Cup; had the same amount of time off, so why is he okay to be on the bench, but the other two aren't?

    Especially Markovic; he's 20, and well-rested.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I don't see anything wrong with the selection. Lambert and Markovich only recently started training. It seems like a sensible selection to me.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Think I'll just leave pre-season squad management to the manager. I think slap in the face is a bit of an exaggeration. If Markovic or Lallana had started and got injured. I envisage there may well have been an article criticising their involvement if they weren't ready. Not that I presume to know what you will choose to write about, just it's feasible.
Anyway like I say, I'm comfortable that our manager, coaches, physios, medical team etc, know what's best in preparing our players for the start of the season because that's ultimately what counts.
The club might be saying things like this trip is about reaching out to our far flung fans but lets get real. It's about money. A necessary revenue trip that both the Manchester teams amongst others are making, perfectly timed to receive the increased interest after the World Cup.
Brendan will say all the right things and I'm sure we'll see the big guns out for the city game but Brendan's fate as manager will not rest on how we do in this string of games in the US. It will depend on the league and champions league by which point this trip will be nothing more than a montage on the official website.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Pre-season friendlies are "shop windows" most of the time. Coates, Lucas, Borini, Suso, etc. are all window display. Don't worry too much about it. The thrills will come hopefully when the sesson kicks off. I'm sure we all want to see our best players on the pitch Jamie.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Every players different, we don't know what condition any of them are in presently. We can guess, but in reality we don't know, BR might just want them to get a little extra rest with 4 trophies to play for next season.

The hard thing to understand is that you're not answering the question I'm asking you. I'm asking you what you think BR is thinking, you're telling me what you think, period, not what you think he thinks. If you don't want to answer it or something that's cool, but you are clearly ignoring the question and answering a different one. I assume you're doing this because the only possible reason Rodgers would leave then out is fitness concerns / resting them a little longer, and you don't want to say this because it supports what I'm saying.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Young master Phillips showing some teeth.

    ReplyDelete
  68. No striking power the entire match...none.

    ReplyDelete
  69. What's the point in speculating about what Rodgers' thinks? it doesn't interest me. There's no reason he can come up with (bar injury) that (IMO) justifies not having at least one of Markovic and Lallana on the bench.

And still you use the 'fitness' excuse? That makes no sense! Pre-season is all about fitness, and getting up to speed. If Henderson can play 15 minutes, so can Lallana and/or Markovic.

    ReplyDelete
  70. No, you are wrong. I would not have posted the article you suggest, so please don't try and second-guess me. I didn't post an article about Ilori or Can getting injured, so why would I do so with anyone else? Injury is part of the game.

  75. Mind numbing this negative take on Liverpool fan support... No matter who played or what the score, you will still have something dreary to say about it.... have an ice cream and sit in the sun for a while... you need some Vitiman D... spend too much time infront of a screen and not enjoying life... Cheer up..

    ReplyDelete
  76. Have a word... he loses games.. not the sort of GK we need.. then there's his snipe at Brendan in his ill advised departure letter, pretty much conceding his LFC days were over...

    ReplyDelete
  77. Yeah.. he looks like he's gonna be a bargain for less than 10 million quid..

    ReplyDelete
  78. I think you will find most of the players in the line up are playing for their future at LFC. Rogers puts attitude and commitment over anything else, so he's probably wanting to see who measures up and who's gonna be on the NOT Wanted list. With a possible 8 new players joining the squad it is only logical that some players will be moved on, this line up tells me they are all under consideration for the boot. I certainly wouldn't expect Rogers to use these games as good PR for the American fans.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Well, maybe there isn't a point, but it's exactly what fans do. Where's the fun in clinging grumpily to your own opinion and making no effort to thinking out the reasons the manager of your favorite team has for doing things? When Rodgers uses lots of different formations are you not interested in figuring out why he thinks they're the right way to go?

As for "the fitness excuse", if you don't understand the basic concepts of fitness and recovery time then I'll ask again if you've ever competed in athletics at a high level. When you work hard then break for a few weeks you need time to get back up to speed. At the highest, professional level, all of that is multiplied many times over. If we don't see those players involved on Sunday I'll be looking for a different reason, but at this point it's just obvious why they're not involved. And it doesn't matter that Henderson is on the bench, there are athletes who need very little recovery time and some who need extra, while most fall in the middle.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Just saw the match. I am so pissed off at Agger and Robinson. Robinson is not going to make it at LFC for sure

    ReplyDelete
  81. IMO: A lot of these players were in the shop window, one of the last few chances to show they can play. Lucas, Borini, Allen, etc, maybe a few more. Rodgers stated a few mins before KO, that Hendo is there because "he could play five games".

    ReplyDelete
  82. Well, he has to decide whether to sell or keep. 😊

    ReplyDelete
  83. Please drop the condescension. My sporting history is irrelevant to this discussion, so just stick to debating the issues.

And just because I stick to my view I'm grumpy. Get a grip. Most fans stick to their views, including you.

And no, I'm not interested in Rodgers' reasons for leaving Lallana and Markovic out of the squad. We're talking about highly developed footballers, not Sunday league players, and there's no reason (IMO), bar injury that one or the other couldn't have been in the squad.

What a consistently negative bore you are JK. Your animus against BR comes thtough strongly in every post. And any time anyone disagrees with you, your only response is "well, you don't have to visit my site"! ie. only visit here if you plan to throw yourself at Jamie's feet. Stand back and listen to yourself once in a while.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'm genuinely not trying to be condescending, I'm wondering if you have personal experience with this sort of thing, it's very relevant.

I'm not saying you're grumpy for sticking to your views, I'm saying it bc you're unwilling to discuss a legitimate question of BR's motivations, and well because you're a little grumpy about it...nothing wrong there we all get grumpy.

The fact that they're pros and not Sunday league players makes the fitness and recovery issue far more important - every little thing is magnified at the top level. Markovic played 49 games last season and he's 20, BR probably will want to protect him as he's done with Sterling. Lallana played a whole season right into a World Cup, and of course neither of them have had much time to adapt to the club. Maybe they're not mentally ready just yet, not quite comfortable. There are a ton of factors involved but the bottom line is this is a preseason friendly and BR's number 1 priority is competing on 4 fronts this season and he's doing what he needs to do to best prepare for that, with every individual player being handled according to their own unique circumstances. Like I said before, if we don't see them Sunday I'll have some questions, but tonight? No big deal it's early days.

    ReplyDelete
  87. You wrote an article about Can getting injured and not being played in his preferred position.

    ReplyDelete
  88. nah i aint making excuses im talking from experience some thing you might not have and thats why i think differently to you , Rogers is giving players a go see if they are going to progress into the first team this year . he already knows the quality he has at his disposal he wants to see what others he has too , specially that he wants to progress in all 4 competitions this year , so he is mixing experience with innocence and im sure slowly he will bring the likes of lallana and markovich in , its not about the now to keep the fans happy for one game its about the future for the club ,

    ReplyDelete
  89. Can't argue too strongly with you on that but I'm sure you'll agree it wasn't BR's smartest selection to include Borini in a 'show the colours' game after agreeing to sell him for £14m to Sunderland. - A very good transfer fee down the tubes (perhaps) for a player (apparently) not too keen on moving. - You will say that is his right and we will again agree.

    ReplyDelete
  90. So your point is just because you want to watch then regardless of their fitness level??? They get injured and you will write a spread about how BR bought an injury prone player.

  91. Please do not twist the facts. I wrote an article merely confirming that Can got injured; I did not post an article criticising Rodgers for playing him early in pre-season and/or attributing any kind of blame (as per Jock in the Kop's suggestion).

I simply relayed the fact that Can got injured, and then questioned Rodgers' decision to play him (as I see it) out of position.

  92. During the match, the commentator said Borini and Sunderland could not agree personal terms, but I still expect him to go, if he had a very a good game against Roma, maybe they might want him back also.

  93. Was he playing at left back?

  95. I'm going to be at the City game, screaming my head off turning yankee stadium into a psuedo-anfield. And let me just say that if this is the line-up that he announces I'll be pisssssssed!!!

  96. Thank goodness you do not spell words with a spacing in between every letter you typed just as you have done with every punctuation mark.

  97. Well this was a rather depressing read... Your argument that Liverpool should be playing Rossiter and Coady in this game because they will not be getting game time next season seems counter intuitive. Lucas and Allen are competitive mainstays in the side and thusly need to build up their personal fitness levels against a higher calibre of opposition. Coady and Rossiter are still getting their chances to impress but why make it at the expense of two first team players' fitness levels. Markovic missed a lot of training time whilst the transfer was going through and if Rodgers and the medical team think he is not ready then I would rather not risk his health and fitness; he is a £20million investment after all. As for your Henderson Llallana comparison; personal fitness regimes are very much catered for individual players today and some athletes have a quicker recovery period than others and other players are more at risk of fatigue related injuries than others. Also if Rodgers didn't give Coates a chance to prove himself, or put himself in the shop window, he could loose respect from some of the playing staff; he has very much built and image of himself where by he gives players a 'second-chance' and if he was to loose this image perhaps players on the periphery wouldn't be as inclined to maintain high levels of performance, Coates is also a very popular guy and why risk his good rapport with the playing staff.

  98. I understand your frustrations with not getting to watch your favourite players but I'd advise you to temper your views and realise that decisions made now are all built towards the greater cause of the Premier League and Champions league seasons.

  107. I agree. The club make a big deal of these games on the website and market it as Gerrard is coming to America, Sterling is coming to America. Nowhere does it say but you have to go to the training sessions to catch a glimpse of them. Or imagine if you're a Danish fan and you went to the Brondby match to see our reserves turn out? I understand why they cannot play but then we shouldn't deceive people by suggesting they will.

  108. Let's see how true a fan you'd be if you paid money to take your Liverpool crazy kid to finally see his heroes and they end up watching Lucas and Allen.

  109. Yeah he even manages to feck his transfer up for us

  110. I could say you believe being a fan = constantly looking for criticisms. No matter what Rodgers does you'll always look for a negative angle. So what? What relevance does that have to anything?

You consistently do this - deflect an argument by attacking the poster and making out you know why they believe the things they write on here. Why can't you just make an argument based on the relevant points without having to make judgements on the person?

  111. Pre season is not about the supporters - it's about getting the team prepared for the coming season. It was discussed prior to the game that most of the 1st team would feature on the weekend and not against Roma.

I actually thought some players stood out especially Coutinho again !!

  112. Uninspiring team uninspiring game and uninspiring transfer window that pretty much wraps it up.
