Liverpool are allegedly considering a move for Marseille playmaker Mathieu Valbuena, who this week clearly indicated that is open to a transfer this summer.
According to The Mirror, 29-year old Valbuena is a transfer target for Liverpool boos Brendan Rodgers, and in an interview this week, the France international confirmed that a move abroad is an enticing prospect. He told Telefoot:
"A departure? We'll see. To discover something else next season could be interesting.
"I've never hidden that an experience abroad tempted me.
"My goal is to make a great second half of the season in the club and make a great World Cup. It's been eight years since I am here at Marseille. "
Valbuena's stats for Marseille over the last couple of years are quite impressive:
* 2012-13: 5 goals/14 assists in 49 apps.
* 2011-12: 9 goals/16 assists in 49 apps.
With only one goals and three assists so far this season, though, it appears that things are slowing down a bit on the creative front.
Over the weekend, Valbuena - nicknamed 'Le petit vélo' by Marseille's fans - made his return from injury after a month out with a dislocated shoulder.
He has an €18m buyout clause in his current contract (which expires in 2016), but given the fact he'll be 30 this year, a move to Liverpool seems very unlikely.

Highly doubt Valbuena is interesting for Liverpool. He's been poor this season.
ReplyDeleteMuch better, cheaper and younger options out there, whoever we buy we have to factor in playing CL next so they have to be of that ilk or else don't waste the money!
ReplyDeleteI really can't judge from that youtube clip, because I don't know the player that well... He seems capable, but I doubt we're going to get any signings done this transfer period. The market is just that bad now... Hopefully, we will be able to get the RIGHT signings during the final days, but again, I doubt it. I'll just silently hope and pray for a DM/AM and an attacking wing... Hopefully!
ReplyDeleteJust looked at the breakdown of the Ballon d'or, footballs equivalent of the European song contest, how can so many know so little and get paid for it. Agger included.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever heard of the term "the answer was in front of him all the time but he couldn't see it" open your eyes and put aside your illogical bias Brendon. who on the books can beat a man, can pass well, has vision, can score goals, make goals, tackle, and has courage ? yet cant even make the bench ahead of 16 year old kids with a tiny fraction of the talent.
ReplyDeleteLiverpool are allegedly, bla bla rread no further.
ReplyDeleteAfter this past summer rumors and talks and almost signing players and nothing did happened, I am not believing anything till someone signs on the dotted lines with pics telling me so.
ReplyDeleteI think this is either a misinformation story from the club or his agent is trying to drum something up or the journo has just gone mad. Nothing in it I reckon.
ReplyDeleteI can...French League defending is p!ss poor and there must be some unwritten French rule that says keeper's must run out too early so they can get out of position and make half-a$$es dives for dramatic...yet pointless...effect.
ReplyDeleteAren't both Lamela and Ravel Morrison available right now? What's wrong with either of them?
ReplyDeletesorry m8 get your last big pay cheque from someone else at 29 no form errrrrrrr no chance
ReplyDeletePlease tell?
ReplyDeleteDecent squad player but not for that kind of money. I'd still go for the strength and power of Cabaye.
ReplyDeleteMany other fish in the sea and not as old and more productive. Forget Valbueana. BTW, Is the Salah deal a replay of the summer HK rumor crap?
ReplyDeletethe more rumour articles I see, the more frustrated I get. We-need-to-buy-someone. Half the window has already bloody ticked by.
ReplyDeleteLamela doesn't appear to be very good at football. Morrison comes with baggage. Though I would be very excited to see him roll into town all the same, if only for the looks on the faces of the Mancs.
ReplyDeleteAdd him to the list of tranfer posabilities, that makes it what now 20 just guessing, does anyone really now for sure if we have any money for this window?
ReplyDeleteNot a chance. I think we can rule out anyone over the age of 26, unless Ronaldo fancies a change.
