  1. Skrtel, Skrtel, Sktrtel...

  2. Could be to save Gerrards legs but why play Lucas further forward when clearly he is not attack minded.

  3. Two clear penalties for Stoke.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Glen Johnson worst player on the pitch in the first half closely followed by Henderson.

  5. OMG...we are gifted a 2 goal lead...though Suarez shows what dogged persistence can reveal...and Stoke still look the better side. Our attack seems to break down because we lose our aggression in the final third...Suarez must be beside himself...will somebody please just hammer the keeper. Coutinho's shots were great...just unlucky. Cissokho is scary on the ball. The MF is not doing a bad job but when we're on the attack they turn into wallflowers.

  6. Gerrards future is in defence he may as well get used to it.

  7. He was on the bench in todays game.

  8. Our passing game just is not working today. Cissokho and Lucas out please.

  9. up til 39mins i thought the defending showed a marked from set pieces. six corners against stoke from which they failed to get an attempt on target is definitely an improvement on what i have seen over the last few weeks. but then of course individual errors cost us.
toure should not have lost crouch, but in fairness it was a peach of a header. adams goal was a good strike (we should sign those two guys) but could have been avoided.
we benefited from lapse defending and pure luck so 2-2 is probably fair unfortunately. i dont know if there is much to change. if we can keep our concentration defensively for the entire second half, i think attacking we will be able to open them up and go on to win.
just hope he doesnt risk sturridge as i can see him limping off in a game like this.

  10. We need more thrust when going forward and Lucas will not give us that so either swop around Gerrard and Lucas or sub one of them.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Sturridge needs to play. Stoke can't handle Suarez and they surely wouldn't be able to handle SAS.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Because it gives us tactical flexibility.

    ReplyDelete
  13. What on earth was that? Heno is having a nightmare, Johnson is SUTILL giving the ball away an Cissokho , well the less you say the better. 2-0 up an they all start playing like the game's over
Rogers had better lay into them this half time.
    Coutinho missed another sitter....

  14. we should stick to this referee !

    ReplyDelete
  15. Nonsense, Shawcross was, closely followed by Pieters.

    ReplyDelete
  16. OH MY! we´re 3:2 up where on earth does it make sense to bring sturridge in? hes injury prone and should be rested! aspas scored the last game and moses could use some gametime too...

    ReplyDelete
  17. ... you just saw why ;)

    ReplyDelete
  18. disagree, stoke is a hard place to play, if sturridge is injured again its not worth a goal... the risk is too high IMO

  19. cissokho plays like a 16 year old making his debut........... in every game. He looks scared and nervous. The lad got a card because CHARLIE ADAM flew past him. CHARLIE ADAM!! the man who runs like he's under water.

    ReplyDelete
  20. looks like he is

    ReplyDelete
  21. well thought the same but hes up on his feet again fortunately. i dont even want to think about shawacross getting in a tackle with sturridge

    ReplyDelete
  22. He wouldn't be available if he was in danger of getting injured I don't think.

Making calls like that is what it's all about. The manager got it right, Daniel came on and won the game for us. Case closed.

    ReplyDelete
  23. as if it hasn´t happened before ... we rushed sturridge back in the team already 2 times, it never came to an good end

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah and I think he's played for them a couple of times this season, maybe more than a couple but the reason he's not become a great player is because his legs are made of pain.

    ReplyDelete
  25. why are we defending deep? they have no pace upfront. ONLY HEIGHT!! we are playing right into their hands.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sturridge is class!

    ReplyDelete
  27. what the hell was that!! GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAl

    ReplyDelete
  28. Don't need much pace to get in behind poor old Kolo!

    ReplyDelete
  29. To city and everton: That is how you beat stoke at home.

    ReplyDelete
  30. last year, we would never have won after them coming back to 2-2. Well in lads

    ReplyDelete
  31. What a match, first win at the Britannia and we are back in the top 4!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Daniel Sturridge...mag-FREAKIN-nificent. The difference in the game. Beautiful assist to Suarez#2 and what dogged persistence to stick with that ball and pump it into the net!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I have never seen a game with the ball up in the air so much...looked like popcorn popping. All to Stoke's advantage because they are way taller and we suck in the air.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Where did Hendo's brain go? Tentative passing and indecisiveness all day.

    ReplyDelete
  35. We seriously need Sakho back in our defence.

    ReplyDelete
  36. And should give Agger a chance to partner Sakho.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Guess it was just one of those days for him.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I am a Liverpool fannnnnnnnnnnnnn. Thanks for making me proud.

    ReplyDelete
  39. bye bye Glen thanks for the memories good luck with your future team.

    ReplyDelete
  40. it does look like that doesnt it

    ReplyDelete
  41. It was nerve racking at times but what a way to win after a long long
wait, that's why we love football ,our defending at times though was
atrocious .I'm just glad its over now......phew

  42. Lucas played a whale of a game I thought. Gerrard played well too but there were a couple of blatantly awful passes that caught my attention. I have to keep reminding myself how the rain was affecting the game...what a downpour.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love the ones you have to dig out,Sturridge finish unforgetable,Suarez and Gerrard class with some bad passes, defence wobbly,Coutinho needs to be told he's not Messi and MIgnolet in a 'normal' game would have cost us three points.IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  44. that was a great result tricky place for lfc

    ReplyDelete
  45. luis could get 40 league goals this season. He is one serious footballer. His level has raised to that of Messi and Ronaldo but he does it in an inferior side AND against better opposition. Remarkable

    ReplyDelete
  46. I thought he should have stopped Wolters shot...but the rain and wet pitch. But what a save on Gerrard's beautiful header...that was one for us.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I don't really watch football the same way as you do, in that case!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Really...except for 6 minutes at the end of the first half, the match was a wipe-out. We unnecessarily made it tough on ourselves I think by helping Stoke keep the ball in the air where their height made us look bad. We need better control in MF. We stay too spread out with nobody to pass to a lot of the time.

Right. Glad that's over, it was horrible to watch. Made up to get the 3 points, but can anyone please explain to me:
    1) Why we are unable to defend. At all. ?
    2) Why Gerrard (a midfielder) is the only player capable of doing a defensive header?
    3) Why Mignolet looks so POOR?
    4) Why we knock it about in the attacking 3rd, get a case of the jitters , go backwards to Skrtel and immediately gives it away?
    5) Why we BACK OFF EVERY FnCKING TIME???!!!
    6) Why we keep getting linked with attacking players when we need a cool head in defence and a destroyer in midfield?
    7) Why I love this club so much? I'm a grown man ffs........

  50. thought mark hughes said he was going to change the way stoke played *LIES* that said wonderful to see sturridge celebrating again sigh everythings finally right again with this world... my thoughts.... glen needs to go, skrtel like usual is a walking penalty, sterling has really grown into it to the point that now maybe coutinho might be kept out of the starting 11 (judging from the sub could of sworn sterling would have been substituted) suarez is utter class, gerrard seemed kinda loose today and what is up with former liverpool players coming and play us with a vengeance (shelvey, downing and now adam) should've played like that all the time before and maybe u wouldn't have been sold

I forgot to mention Coutinho in my rant.
    1) Why does he never look like he's going to score?
    2) Why does he get out-muscled in away games yet Sterling (my Xmas turkey was bigger) doesn't?
    3) Why does Mignolet try and punch everything?

    ReplyDelete
  52. I love it when people vote down without saying why they do not agree ;-o

I thought he played better today, and just when he was about to play the final killer ball he remembered he couldn't be arsed. :(

  54. Great game for the eyes. Not so great for the heart!
but thats why you love football.

    ReplyDelete
  55. AndWithSuchSimplicity6:33 pm, January 12, 2014

We need a minimum of 3 goals to win games at the minute. That is sh!t, really.

    ReplyDelete
  56. 1. Because we don't press the ball in the middle of the field to try to get it back...this is the problem...pure and simple. We set up the poor defense by letting EVERY team bring the match to our doorstep.
    2. Well...except for the one SM had to make a miraculous save on...but you're right...not only are they wafted way into the air, but they're never to anybody on our side.
    3. I disagree.
    4. I can't figure this one out either...no killer instincts I guess...except for SAS...if we only had Hazard to demonstrate what killer instinct at MF is..
    5. Driving me crazy too.
    6. Lucas played well I thought...but we need a better corps of MF who can retain position better.
    7. It's in your blood.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Watch out EPL, Suarez and Sturridge are going to clean up again :-)

    ReplyDelete
  58. AndWithSuchSimplicity6:35 pm, January 12, 2014

Maybe if they had played against our defence every week we would have kept them.......

    ReplyDelete
  59. a goal and assist (almost for suarez) each SAS IS BACK

    ReplyDelete
  60. He's slow and he waits too long to pass.

    ReplyDelete
  61. In game like this where your defence is up to sh***, all you need to do is make sure you score more goals than the opposition.

    ReplyDelete
  62. AndWithSuchSimplicity6:40 pm, January 12, 2014

I know, but when the goals dry up we're buggered. Do we really want to be another Newcastle (under Keegan) or Spurs (when they had 5 forwards but a sieve at the back)?
Just occasionally I'd settle for a couple of 2-nils.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Goals dry up with Suarez and Sturridge in your starting eleven?

    ReplyDelete
  64. seems to disappear when Gerrard plays. Last 6 except chelsea he ran the game and hit some stunning passes. Anonymous today though

    ReplyDelete
  65. Rodgers: Norwich City have been the only team to beat Stoke at the Brittania. This is going to be tough for us.

    Suarez only heard Norwich City.
