In February 2013, exciting young Liverpool striker Samed Yesil tore his cruciate ligament, and injury that kept him on the sidelines for over TEN MONTHS. Alas, just over a week after making his return to football, it appears that the German star has suffered the same injury again.
It appears that 19-year old Yesil has suffered another anterior cruciate ligament injury (ACL), which is a devastating blow for the youngster, who fought so hard to recover from the first injury.
If the rumour is true - and several reliable sources indicate that it is - Yesil faces another nine or ten months on the sidelines, and it will take considerable mental strength for Yesil to recover from another cruciate ligament injury.
In the past, several players have had to retired due to successive ligament injuries (Bayern Munich star Sebastian Deisler being a major example), but Yesil should take heart that a full recovery is possible.
For example, Michael Essien suffered two separate cruciate injuries in 2008 and 2011; he recovered both times, and is still playing at the top level for Chelsea. Additionally, Yesil has age on his side, and at nineteen, his chances of making an effective recovery are high.
Additionally, with the likes of Lucas, Sebastian Coates and Martin Kelly all experiencing the same injury at various tims, Yesil will also finds lots of moral support and understanding at Anfield.
According to reports in Turkey this week, Besiktas have 'opened talks with Liverpool' over a possible €3m deal for Yesil, but that is now almost certainly dead in the water.
Best of luck with your recovery, Samed!

In a strange way I'm glad he's injured so that the besikas deal is dead. I hope he recovers and works his way back into the team. I think he could be quality for lfc. Obviously I hope he recovers very quickly.
ReplyDeleteNo piece about today's game? Really?
ReplyDeletePerhaps I plan to write about it tomorrow. If that's okay with you, of course? I'll ask permission next time.
ReplyDeleteGood Boy
ReplyDeletelousy for the lad if true - great win today unexpected by me, if spurs dont panic they will finish top 4, vertongen ? makes them tick. keeping Suarez was the masterstroke.
ReplyDeleteDeisler didn't just retire because of injuries. He had mental problems and became disillusioned with football. I think with Deisler it was more a case of the injuries coupled with the pressure of being Germany's wunderkind.
ReplyDeleteRonaldo suffered this injury 3 times and recovered to play at European Cup level each time, so there is hope. I should think the mental battle will probably be tougher than the physical battle. A shame, because he did look a prospect, though we had only glimpses.
Correct ... Deisler retired physically healthy. Injuries had nothing to do it with it.
ReplyDeleteCome on jamie after today talkin about Yesil's all u have....of course it doesn't sell space when there's nothing to criticise. ...there's something to be said abiut effort an Henderson has plenty of that to heck with those that critise him....effort wins games and that showed today YNWA and to heck with those who find minute details to wine about
ReplyDeleteNow LFC should looking for another defensive midfielder such as Yann M'Villa, if can get another player like cautinho i think LFC is more powerful....get Alesix Sancez to strenghted theattacking...
ReplyDeleteArsenal City and Chelsea will almost certainly finish in the top 4 - they have the essential combination of a strong starting eleven and a lot of depth in every position. The same goes for Tottenham but they haven't clicked yet, Liverpool has a top 4 first 11 but we are lacking quality replacements. Not so sure what so say about manU but they are definitely in the hunt for a CL place... That's 6 teams for 4 places, (or 3 teams, us included for 1 place)... Lets just hope it turns out the right way - the Liverpool way
ReplyDeleteWhat, are Spurs going to finish ahead of us and have you actually seen Spurs play this whole season?
ReplyDeleteThey cannot even hit a bloody barnyard door but they will finish 4th. Oh, i forgot that you do not like Rodgers :-o
He might just be OK. It's a horrible injury because it takes well over a year before you feel your old self again and it's not uncommon to see this kind of recurrence. At 10 months you're still adjusting to your knee functioning quite differently to what it did before. It all adds up to be a potential horror story - but he's at the right place to get injured. At LFC he'll get the best surgeon, the best rehab program and a solid avenue to work his way back into the reserve team. It absolutely slows his progress and threatens his career but if he does have the mental strength to stay with it and gets the right support from coaching staff he can still come back. That talent doesn't go away and ultimately the kind of fitness work you do for an ACL rehab is very good for the rest of your body and the stability of both knees in the long term.
ReplyDeleteI include Everton in that on current form I'm reluctant to say....
ReplyDeleteAh that's a blow. He done so well to get back to fitness and this will definitely test his mental strength as the article suggests. All the best mate.
ReplyDeletePoor bugger. I bet he wishes he'd stayed in Germany now
ReplyDeleteI genuinely think Everton are in the mix and if i'm honest are playing better than Man utd, spurs so there's a dilemna here 7 in to 4 doesn't go so it wont just be man utd's ego that will be hurt this year some one else is in for a rude awakening possibly Chelsea?
ReplyDeletewe can always re-read the piece about Henderson to keep us going 'til then! he he he!
ReplyDeleteSad news. Happened to me. Really sucks, cant imagine what it must be like for someone who is trying to make a career from football.
ReplyDeletehad the idiot in charge not saked him they were certs for a top 4 finish, 6 new players need time. their best player vertogen is injured , they are right up in the mix for forth even now and have won all six european games.
ReplyDeleteHahaha. No amount of 'Critical Realism' can deflect from the fact that yesterdays performance was the most complete we've put in in years. The 4-0 win over Real Madrid is the last time we've properly and mercilessly blitzed a top-end team
ReplyDeleteTbh it wouldnt surprise me if arsenal dropped out
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible. I would cry if I was him. I wish him courage and a full recovery.
ReplyDeleteSoooooo......any update on this story? I've not seen a single source, credible or otherwise, saying anything at all about Yesil being injured. Not even the great Google machine came up with confirmation other than linking back to this piece.
