'We'll see' - €8m outcast who 'loves' LFC hints at January transfer. Sign him...?

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho continues to ignore certain players in his squad, and after ignoring Juan Mata for much of the season so far, it seems that Blues attacker Kevin De Bruyne - who has barely featured for Chelsea this season - is also on the Portuguese manager's hit-list. Last month, De Bryne's dad suggested that the 22-year old attacker could quit the club in January if things didn't change, and now, the player himself has hinted a January move is a definite possibility. Could this be a great opportunity for Liverpool...?

When asked on Friday if a January transfer is on the cards, De Bruyne told reporters:

"We will see what is going to happen. It's always difficult for players when they are next to the team, but Chelsea is my club. Jose is my boss and he will decide what is going to happen."

Last month, Mourinho forced De Bruyne train with the youth team whilst the first-team squad jetted off for a Champions League clash with Steaua Bucharest, and when asked about his apparent marginalisation of player, a clearly irritated Mourinho barked:

"With Kevin, I didn't like the match he played against Swindon and I didn't like the way he was training. But you only ask about the guys who were not selected. Thank you."

Mourinho then stormed out of the press conference.

According to a source close to the De Bruyne, he was 'deeply upset' by his treatment and complained of being "treated like a child".

De Bruyne's dad, Herwig de Bruyne, then suggested that the 22-year old could quit Stamford Bridge in January. He told reporters:

"If this situation continues, we'll have to look for a solution in January."

Could that solution be Liverpool?

The Reds need more right-sided attacking midfielders/wingers, and with the club's recent history of signing/loaning Chelsea players, plus Rodgers' great relationship with Mourinho, perhaps a loan/permanent move for De Bruyne would be a good idea? One thing in the Reds' favour is that the Belgian is a Liverpool fan. After he signed for Chelsea, he said:

"When I was young, in my family we loved Liverpool"

De Bruyne - who cost Chelsea €8m - is a regular starter for the exciting Belgium national team, but he's made only seven appearances for Chelsea since signing for the club in January 2012. Clearly, the Blues - and Mourinho - don't rate De Bruyne, and with the World Cup approaching fast, he'll need to play regularly to assure his place in the squad.

In his final six months at Werder Bremen, De Bruyne grabbed 19 goals/assists in 33 appearances, so he clearly has the ability to score/create regularly. All he needs, perhaps, is a manager to show some faith in him. Additionally, if Raheem Sterling - as expected - goes out on loan, De Bruyne would be a great replacement.

PROS:

* Fits the FSG transfer profile.
* Attacking midfielder, which is one area LFC need to improve.
* Can play as a number 10, or on either wing.
* Would bring even more attacking depth to the squad.
* Electric pace, which the club also lacks in attacking areas.
* Would be desperate to play well with the WC coming up.

CONS:

* Given the fact Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho will probably always start when fit, it's possible that De Bruyne would struggle for regular game time.

* Victor Moses is also a wide-player, but he's struggling to play every game at the moment, so the same could happen with De Bruyne.

Worth pursuing in January...?

  1. Liverpool can't take any other Chelsea player on loan this season, as they already have Victor Moses. Premier League rules don't allow any club to have two players on loan from the same Premier League club.

  2. How about a 40m bid for both Mata and De Bruyne..?

  3. A permanent transfer could also be a possibility.

  6. Bias? What are you talking about?

  8. Forced to train with youths when he wasn't included in squad for a game in Bucharest? Just like the ones that don't travel to international games is forced to train with youths?

Both de Bruyne and his agent said it was nonsense that it was some sort of punishment, mourning I also didn't loan him in the beginning of the season but would be all for sellin him now? After 3 months?

It's wc coming up, of course he wants to play. But from there to whatever this article is? Far fetched

  10. No Mata is worth 40 alone and we are not selling him .As to KDB i think we have done you enough favors ,your coach , Glen Johnson ,Sturridge ,Borini ,and what did we get ? A crocked Torres .
KDB is one of the brightest up and coming talents so no chance we will sell him ,a loan to a German club probably .

  11. u's(Chelsea) rejected Johnson so u did not do LFC any favours as he came to us from Portsmouth.

  12. Pretty sure we got borini from roma?

  13. I don't think he's really shown that much to indicate that he'd be an improvement on what we already have.. I can't particularly seeing him displacing Hendo.. Other options for the right include the pacier option of Moses, or the creative Alberto or Aspas, who would provide an inverted option.

  14. What are you on about biased article? it's a transfer article no bias in it and if you're referring to that the article is in favour of signing him for Liverpool not any other club then look at the name of the website.

  15. Sign him if he's under 10 mil pounds. That would be an exceptional value worth for a regular Belgian international capable of playing either as an attacking midfielder or winger. I'm sure he'll be capable of getting some minutes at LFC making himself happy, provided he's not being forced to play as some holding midfielder, wing-back or something.

  16. I would love for us to sign him come Jan and a senior AM in the mold of Pastore or Mata as well, we need to stock up and charge for the title if we're in top 3 when the transfer window opens.

  17. Oh that would be a dream come true :D

  18. You high much?

Just an article stating if a player could be signed from Team X to Team Y!!!

  19. Haha I lol'd hard at the latter part of your comment!!! :D

  20. De Bruyne is quality and he would be an excellent signing for us. A permanent deal in January would be a decent move but I would still prefer a more proven goal scoring midfielders and a box to box CDM as well. If we can't get a more experienced proven midfielder than KDB would be a very very good option.

  21. Better than menez? Better than el Shaarawy? No.
Would be a good signing, but great signings are what I want.

  22. I wonder what Mourinho means by "he didn't like the way De Bruyne was training." Mourinho, being a man manager, should be able to get the best out of young players (don't quote me on that). If he can't do it, can BR??? I don't know...just possible warning bells ringing in the case of De Bruyne. I'd try him out on a loan deal first. Mata purchase would be first choice.

  23. As for Debruyne I can't see Mourinho doing us a favour. By January we would be there or thereabouts with them. why would he make a fool of himself if the player becomes a big hit here? He already expressed his annoyance at Sturridge transfer. Loaning him out to Bundesliga would be far more rational option. There would not a shortage of takers for player of his calibre.

  24. I think he can play Stevie's role and Henderson's as well. I think he can be a long term replacement for Gerrard in football terms.

YES. I really really hope we bid for him.

  25. By the way- You should be 3 points behind us not 2. So at least you got the money and referees with you don't ya?

  26. I'd love him to come, but would Chelski sell him to LFC when we're competing with them for top four & maybe title?

  27. Flavour of the month players the lot of them.

    ReplyDelete
  28. He's real good young talent to watch. Wins matches for me in FIFA 14 too ;)

  29. If he starts for the Belgian team, how bad can he be? I would think Mata is more of a priority if we could get him. If DeBrune is better than Sterling and or Aspas, Borini and Flanagan, trade them off to make roster and financial room!

  30. Apparently we've signed will Hughes from derby for 12m.

  31. I'm not sure he's quite good enough for the kind of player we need. We need real quality, someone who is unquestionably going to add something in the final third at a level we need to mount a serious title challenge. He aint bad, but he's perhaps not quite the brilliant player we want. I think at this point small incremental upgrades are not what we want. Our front line needs one additional top class player, a guaranteed starter who can have an impact alongside Suarez and Sturridge. I don't think De Bruyne is that player.
